When we initially started the game, the group we came here with shared initials with another group. Our leader was kinda annoyed by that, but also stumped as to what to change it to; within a couple of weeks, we decided to add -RP to the tag since we were an RP FC.
Frequently when I was standing around on Claire, I'd have people send me OOC tells actually thanking me for having the -RP right in the tag. A couple people actually said something about how they were glad it was more than just <<RP>>, because they'd run into two different FCs who were using it, and it was confusing - having the FC initials plus the -RP was less confusing but still made it easy to know it was an RP guild.
A point that was made a lot in these conversations was that these players were new to the game. Every single one of them had no idea the RPC even existed. They didn't use the official forums, so they didn't hear about this place that way, and none of them had tried Googling for an RP community site, or they'd found the one over on Enjin that's dead and gave up.
So when we ended up needing to make a new FC after the group we were with left the game and we departed the group, we decided to just stick with the -RP at the end of our tag. If we ever move to another game, we're probably going to stick with that, just because of how positive the response has been to it previously and how helpful it is to new RPers.
Overall, in some ways, it doesn't really matter what your FC tag is, as it is your FC and your $15 USD a month. However, the tag is the hook for your FC, so you have to consider that. While an amusing tag will draw attention, if it's incongruent to your FC, it may not keep their attention; if you can make the tag amusing and have it fit with your FC name, then it works. Otherwise, it may be a good idea to use something that matches or compliments your FC's name, and it may be beneficial to add the -RP tag to help out new RPers or non-RPCers to know you're a RP FC.
