I like the idea of doing patrols and like likes. Interacting with other RPers, having a system set up where people can come report crimes, work with criminal FCs to make events or stuff like that.

On top of that what kinda race/character restrictions would there be? Obviously it'd probably be Samurai only but would you allow outsiders to join, be trained and work with them? I dunno if you'd have to open it up to more races just for the sake of inclusion in the RP community or not.

The Far East seems to be composed of the usual races. Hyur (midlander) and Raen is a given, a few lalafells (with eastern names) and a lot of roegadyn (also with eastern names) especially can be seen ingame.

I have yet to see miqo'te (maybe there are some!), but the simple fact that Fernehalves hinted at them being there too, I think race isn't really a problem judging by what I see right now.

Of course, you can never know when a contradictory lore snippet can come and tell you "actually, those samurai of Hingashi police are all midlanders" or whatever. It's sure that the game seems to mostly portray midlanders so far.

In any case, good luck if you try that road for roleplay. Playing the upper caste having the right of life and death (like the Edo era Samurai), also in a role of city police, is probably tricky.

Where are the Lalafells that you saw? I've only seen one Lalafell NPC in Kugane. Kikimo, which is a name that falls in line with Dunesfolk naming conventions, which, as best as I can tell, is what she is. Her employment with the East Aldenard Trading Company also points to her foreign status.

Prior to SB there were a few instances mentioned such as in the flavor text for the Dark Sleeper fish (Invasive species introduced by a Far Eastern Lalafell prince.) and in 1.0 Toadsquatter Femomo who may have been using something similar to the new Ninja ability. However since SB's release they appear mentioned in FATE events and very rarely elsewhere if at all. A disappointing inconsistency but not unprecedented; Ishgard does have a minority population before opening to the outside again of other races that are totally invisible in game. In 2.0 Square forgot non-Highlander Ala Mhigans existed.

If there are NPCs in Kuugane I never saw I'd love to know.

She was not Seikisegumi though.

The "Duskwight Debutante" is involved in a sidequest wherein you are to hand out missives to foreigners. The quest giver even explicitly asks that you hand out the quest items to "merchants visiting Kugane from abroad".

So does this settle the argument weather or not miqo/lalafell/elezen are native to the Far East? I've only seen foreigners of those races. (and it seems no matter what race besides the xaela, all the natives have the Far Eastern culture naming convention, unless I've overlooked something)

But on the topic, I'd like to see some Seksi- Sekesisk- Seku- Fuck it, Samurai Police, if they release their npc clothing.

The previous lore exists, so no. Not any more so than Ishgard not having any non Hyur or Elezen NPCs in it makes the lorebook not exist. If anything it only confuses the matter more, I'm afraid.

In order to maintain justice the police force in Kuugane needs free leave to cut down anyone, but if you played a corrupt cop, would perhaps a bribery focused approach work for PC conflict resolution?

Uh, that's usually why I'm often reluctant to lean on ingame examples to make generalities out of it, and it seems my own misinterpretation borked it even further... So the jury's out for lalas and elezens then.Â

I have seen several sidequests where elezens were involved other than the debutante and they were all foreigners.

As for miqo'te I have yet to see any portrayed in the Far East, and the quote I had in mind from Fernehalwes isn't as specific as to mention Othard (so it's an old quote and probably refers to Ilsabard actually).
