Balmung is definitely the place to go if you want to do considerable amounts of RP.

Most people are friendly if you just talk to them and setting up RP using this site makes it that much easier to find a group of people to do it with you.

You will run into an A-Hole every now and then on the server, but if you've ever pugged a dungeon I am sure you are used to it.Â Â

I have been back and forth primarily between Balmung and Sargatanas andÂ can tell you from experience theÂ RP community on Balmung is very friendly and open to new people.

Balmung is the main place to go for RP. If RP is your main focus, Balmung has it in spades. THere are days where I'm so busy RPing, I make no progress with levels...

I have come to the conclusion that YES I will transfer over to Balmung. However, I am still new and feel I should at least complete enough of the game with my main first so that when I go over I CAN focus on RP and the higher level stuff everyone there will be doing.

Balmung was having some server issues just now, so you might be able to squeeze a character on. (Makes a character design, save it, spam the server trying to create)

Wait a moment! If you are home/have access to FFXIV right now, you MIGHT be able to make new characters on Balmung...

Er, assuming you don't want to just transfer your main over...

Either way, it's an option. The servers just borked, but last time they did this, when it came up, you could make new characters on the server briefly.

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned it yet, but, one thing that's often overlooked is that the server transfer cost includes up to 8 charactersÂ as long as your account type is one where you're paying for multiple character slots (they have a monthly fee that allows up to 8 per server, or, a monthly fee that only allows 1 per server, so if you're the former, then you're good to go). All characters to be transferred must come from the same origin server and must have existed for at least 3 real-world days and have nothing in their mail.Â

So if you like having an alt or two, it's worth it to go ahead and create them and transfer them as a batch even if you don't think you're ready to actually play them at all yet. That way they're already on Balmung and ready for you to use whenever you do feel like you want to get started on them.
