You're gonna need a bit more evidence than that to start throwing around words like "ample".

I'm personally not a fan of IC Fantasia, but let's not misrepresent facts here.

Let's not kid ourselves. One example is really all you need.
No, one example is all /You/ need.

Get it straight. You're not the arbiter of lore for everyone.

Okay, then allow me to rephrase: the fact that one exists opens the idea that others may possibly exist. Whether you choose to agree with that is on you, but it doesn't discount that it's there.
If that logic makes sense to you, it should not seem unreasonable to assume that the flavor text does point in the direction of possible vampire myths existing, just maybe not necessarily the creature itself.

I'm not necessarily saying it doesn't. However, until it is seen in game, I don't think people really have grounds to grab it and run and say it exists. It's like blindly groping with Allagan lore. Sooner or later it will either be confirmed kr denied, and then you'll have major retcons to face for the character.

Pack it up guys, toliets don't exist.
Wow, this thread kinda exploded. Smile

With regards to Fantasia, there's actually a bit of a conflict between that Tumblr post and what Fernehalwes (Michael Christopher Koji Fox, who you might recall in HW credits as one of two "World Lore Creators" for XIV) said at the London Fan Fest on the topic. (It's the last answer in the Q&As.)

Everyone does their business in the hot tubs.

I'm pretty sure they do OTHER business in the hot tubs.

How do we know there are normal tubs?

I only see hot tubs in game. Maybe there are no tubs, and the text isn't canon.

Not unreasonable, considering the history of sewage.

I saw a thread that stated that because two/four exceptions to the rule exist, it must be okay to say that Miqo'te dragoons exist. Much like how I say that because they've specifically said some things are not canon, others must not be.
Part of me hopes the OP is a sockpuppet and just laughing at his computer screen over this. Not that the conversation hasn't been mostly riveting, even if it got a bit far afield.

Lore's serious business because those of us trying to play by the rules in the game world NEED THOSE RULES.

That's what you should probably say then, rather than suggesting they're not possible at all. Some people like myself are willing to accept retcon possibilities if it allows them to play something plausible and still get what they want narratively.
Can we change the threat title to: Plausibility of Tubs in RP

Maybe, but I dunno. It's my thing to at least give one fair answer to every op even if i think they're trolling.

That is interesting. Even then, that leaves a discrepancy between flavor text and how such an item would work according to Fern's words (not to mention the whole "novelty items" deal). Plus it discredits how about 90% of IC fantasias go down anyway, but I figure it's best to leave the discussion at that since we've now got a definitive answer, and also because we've gone so far off topic at this point that the thread is less "derailed" and more "broken through the veil of spacetime into a land where the concept of a rail never fucking existed."

Would a tub accidentally made out of a still living Wulgaru drink blood and thus be a vampire tub? I can see a great threat of vampiric furniture if one can make one out of a Wulgaru. We should stake all our chairs just to be sure.

And where is this Wulgaru thing mentioned, Sounsyy? I don't think I've ever seen it. A rare spawn or something from a FATE?

No because if you unplug the hot tub, it cools down and turns into a normal tub.

Tubs confirmed.
