Since killing Hydaelyn or themselves was kinda bad, they outlawed the use of black magic and etc, and limited white magic to the Padjali(and their trustees). As far as existing white/black mages though... Idk, maybe there's some in hiding, or people reduced their black mages to just being really good thaumaturges. I don't own a lore book or have too much in depth knowledge about their existence in Eorzea's present time, but Valic still studies culture and history that's happened in the past about it all.
