Who are you?(IC): "I'm merely a another mind on Hydaelyn on a quest to better myself through the power of knowledge. My studies have resided in conjury, thaumaturgy, and some of the more advanced forbidden arts of both white and black magic... W-without practicing them of course! My training in the Maelstrom has also given me some experience out in the field of duty, as well as some skills with a rapier, though for now I am currently retired and furthering my studies however I can. Aether comes in many shapes and forms, and I intend to learn about each and every one!... Oh... beg pardon... My name is Valic Sunblood. Yes I know... It's not a typical miqo'te name!"
Who are you?(OOC): I'm a newcomer to Balmung, transferred to Siren about a week-ish ago from now. 4-5 Months into FF14, originally trying out a failed RP persona as I had in a thread here once before, then moving onto a treasure hunter persona, now with my move to the unofficial RP server Balmung, I developed a more permanent persona that will develop better as stormblood is released. Ideally Valic is a red mage, but doesn't quite recognize it, he picked up a more unorthodox sword method while enlisted in the maelstrom in his youth after studying the works of aether/magic in several forms. After a few years he retired his sword, taking with him an elite coat as a gift to remember, and wants to better his knowledge/strength. I don't have a wiki page made for him yet but there's more about his parents, why he got into magic, and so on that I'm welcome to explain while IC in the game for conversation :p. Valic is an astute, polite, sexy "scholar" type, the type of male that is intelligent and so into his studies that he is completely oblivious to flirting and advances, as well as neglecting to even feed himself from staying so long in libraries... Which leads me to my next question.
What are you looking for?(OOC): Essentially as the title says. A retainer! Someone who can play the role of a character that helps me in whatever it is I need. Finding books while in my studies, getting me food every so often, bothering me, going out to fetch other RP'ers on subjects of interest(like magitek, arcanima users, other scholars, and etc things that are interesting enough to use aether in some way). Someone who will stay in contact via "linkpearl" (pm's) when out in the field hunting for something, fetching an item, or going about their business and etc. This would be long term RP and I would love to see something develop that stays canon. It also would fit Valic's personality as he's quiet and to himself, to have someone who is a bit outgoing to help Valic meet people of interest/intelligence to converse with. You would basically be Valic's "Tataru" only more active and involved in RP both with and without Valic. To be Valic's Wingman/woman and actively help, swoon(if applicable lol), and do battle with him in duties(possibly working on a duty RP thing to a degree too, something about contracts, will develop when stormblood comes).
What qualifies to be your retainer?(OOC): I'm pretty open minded to anything but below I've put some preferences and ideas so you can see what you could be looking forward to.
Race: Any (Preferably all but Roegydan, and male Miqo'te... the latter due to plot reasons in Valic's background/birth/etc).
Gender: Any (Depends on the romance area if applies)
Personality: I'm up in the air about this one, either between having the stereotype of someone who's trying their hardest just to have me notice them(yes senpai), or someone who's outright lazy and screws up their duties all the time for witty banter. However I'm completely open to anything here as far as personality goes.
Romance: I'ma leave this as optional, Valic is a straight male and is already very oblivious even when women are openly swooning/flirting with him in public. The only case where I could see romance develop would either be over a far stretch of time spent trying to impress him, or someone of the same caliber of knowledge-seeking as him. Someone who levels to his intelligence and is just as inspired by the inner workings of aether as he is. With that said, it's not a must, but it's welcome to a degree.
Age: Valic's about 28-29 years old I would say... 10 years growing up at an orphanage, 10 or so doing studies in areas of conjury/whitemagic/thaumaturgy/blackmagic, about 5-6 years of Maelstrom Military service and a couple years of retirement from it to continue his research. With that said, I would hope for someone of younger age that's open to learning or barely below his own age to be on the same depth of knowledge to a degree to share insight with.
Class/Job: Any so long as it's not OP primal nonsense or against lore.
Some pluses: Being an Au ra or seeking a master or to become an apprentice in studying magic is more than welcome. An excuse to go to the eastern lands more often and of course the enjoyment of teaching someone how to manipulate or use aether different ways is something I'd adore.
