It does better damage, has no crippling positional requirements, has better survivability, better party utility, and on top of that it flat out moves faster, so it's easier to dodge AOE. If it wasn't for the need to build limit break and the fact that MNK does the highest damage and provides good utility then NIN would invalidate it too.NIN's also getting nerfed via TP costs according to that letter. Might get a hit on damage, but I doubt it'll be sufficient enough to not make it king of utility. They pretty much seemed to have hit the nail on the head with the buffs too - less positional restrictions, more MagDef. |

Lets be honest, pulling high dps in Turn8 does matter because if you cant- you can't FCOB most likely.
That same parse by the way, the monk in our raid did 565 dps. So I lost by about 10% compared to him. Dragoons being behind monks by 10%? Why? No thanks. Turn8 is a parse fight - 510 on turn8 is to show the point that DRGs need more dps. I dont know how hard good ninjas parse, last time we had one for fun in there they did...520? Why should DRG be the worst melee and the weakest? Good buffs inbound boys please look forward to it. Lastly the magic buff to DRGs is for turn12/13. Turn 10/11 is more manageable though much more painful than is should be. Stacks in turn12 crush DRGs much earlier than the rest of the raid which was the real problem. All this salt thrown my way mmm. |

Not salt at all! After your latest post with your monk's dps added as well, it's clear we're on the same side of the fence .

Sooner or later the SMNs are going to need to get balanced with some type of aetherflow buff or so. Too many of them are going OoM from what I hear in FCOB that they're now switching back to BLM as other DRGs (before 2.45 buff announcements) were heading towards switching to MNK/NIN.

I think Yoshi-P really takes class balancing seriously and the reasons why people play them. People should switch jobs because they are fun not because X job underperforms in certain raid content or there other "similar" job is superior.
People shouldn't have had to switch from BLM to SMN because of the movement intensive problems in certain SCOB fights and they were noticed. DRG -are- good but so many people had part of the laughing stock syndrome that permeated from FFXI but was exacerbated by so many of them jumping and dying to the magic damage. Positionals are a problem but honestly the monk in my group was having more issues in T8 than anyone else because of Greased Lightning and others. (WHY YOU MAKE MY JOB HARDER. JUST MOVE TIGHTER OR ELSE I'M LETTING BALLISTICS KILL YOU :C) SMN shouldn't have to feel pressured to switch jobs in FCOB because of the -very- long sustained fight that after a certain time their mana pool is just too depleted that Ballad would need to be played in these stupid dps check fights. |

I'm glad they do make effort to balance out the classes. SMN definitely needs a bit of help so hopefully will be next.Â

What's the problem with SMN anyway? I'm not super familiar with it. Is it DPMP?

Quote:Q5: There is a lot of equipment for summoner and bard where stats such as spell speed and skill speed do not really match the concept of the job. These aren’t very advantageous, so will you be making adjustments to this in the future? It's quite simple really. Stop giving SMNs more and more useless spell speed and give us access to more critical chance+determination. In case you forgot, team, SMNs have a built-in system where, if we get a critical hit, we get an 8 second spell-speed buff. That, and critical DoTs do more damage than regular DoTs. SMNs are a class heavily reliant on critical hits, so can we have some more, please? Quote:Q15: As a fresh level 50 player, it’s difficult to obtain the previous Allagan tomestone of mythology gear (item level 90 gear) because they can only be obtained through the new dungeons. Are there any easier ways to obtain these pieces of gear? You don't say? I mean, you only did the same with Darklight in the same stroke as making it dyeable gear! Quote:However, we are actually adding a fake moustache for the Starlight Celebration… Quote:We will try to increase the amount of character options via glamour (i.e. using hair extensions introduced in the upcoming Starlight Celebration event, etc.). Quote:While there isn’t too much we can reveal at this time, just to give you a preview, we are currently discussing a new type of content where you will control your own unit for your grand company, add NPCs in your unit, and take them to dungeons to level them up. |

If I don't get that wedding dress I may actually kill someone.
The Coil news about being able to help friends but not rolling on loot? Best news in a LONG time. |
