And I give up. That killed it for me.
They have learned nothing since FFXIII.

I'm going to wait for more details instead of making a snap judgement call months and months before the game is ready to come out. It could mean a lot of things: Chapter-based gameplay similar to Telltale series' or it could be a full-blown remake of the 7 universe, meaning FF7, 7:AC and the expanded world. The fact they're saying these will feel differently implies it won't just be "Disc One: 29.99 MSRP" or something.

The article in question even wonders what exactly it means.

By the look of things, the game's combat (while similar in some aspects to XV's system) is a hybrid. There is a meter that builds up for each character after each attack and you can switch between characters. So this bar that fills may be some kind of timed system... or it's a bar that fills to unleash a strong finisher/combo after a few slashes/magic spells.

People asked for a remake, this is exactly that; a work from the ground up. This system will get us more engaged in the combat than ever before. I loved the ATB system and felt it reached the pinnacle of perfection in FF X, but I'm up for fast paced combat. Also, the game's going to be split into 'episodes', like FF XV. That I do not like, but you know... this game is going to be huge. I'd imagine the trip on the world map after leaving Midgar is not going to be a sprite running to the next town... no... it's probably going to be open world adventuring like FF XV... which means a real long adventure in a world we kinda already know.

I'm so ready for this.

Still buying the collectors edition or something similar on release regardless and especially the ff7 themed ps4 if they design one and will enjoy all of it, whatever it may bring thoroughly

From an article I saw, they're remaking the full game--just pieces at a time because making it all at once and releasing it would be far too big for systems to handle as one complete thing rather than small increments. The article explains it a lot better in full detail: http://www.novacrystallis.com/2015/12/ki...rt-series/

Aside from the CG shown at the beginning of the trailer, everything is in real-time. You can alter the camera angle during the train scene.
Cloud’s appearance has to partially to do with the lighting and his pale skin. Nojima had said Cloud’s sickly appearance is brilliant.
Square Enix is working with CyberConnect 2 to develop the Final Fantasy VII Remake.
Cross-dressing scene will be included. Nomura has yet to work on the design, however.
Final Fantasy VII Remake is completely different from Crisis Core’s battle system. Not as action-y as Dissidia Arcade or KH but closer to that style.
The battle speed they’re aiming for is Dissidia Arcade’s. The battles we saw in the trailer are kind of like a standard to aim for.
Nomura can’t go into details about the battle system, but he said it’s important to note that the ATB gauge turns red. Something significant.

No raging, -yet- ;p

Long as it's not following the DLC crap that follows Assassin's Creed or CoD with their shitty access passes and stuff I'll still throw money at it.

Another recent report said each installment will be "the equivalent to a full game" and have its own story. So I imagine they're doing it in sections. Like.. having Midgar as one part and so on. My concern is not only that the continuity/pacing will be ruined, but if they're already saying "each will be a full game" then I'm almost expecting a 60 price tag per entry. It's the kind of shit SE does.

Here's to me having hope that it'll be a base price, going with industry standard for a game this size, $60 for the entire "season" of episodes. Similar to Telltale's games or Life is Strange (though in that, you can purchase each individual episode.)

I'm disappointed by their decision to split up the game, but it's not a deal breaker for me. I'll still get it probably. FF7's remake is something I've wanted for nearly 10 years now. If they really make it $60 per episode, that would be just plain ridiculous but not too surprising as they are already trying to say each episode will be its own complete game.

I would imagine that at least someone from SE's marketing/PR team has already seen the massive backlash this news has brought. Perhaps the SE overlords will take a break from writing their Lightning fanfics and take this all into account when preparing to price the game(s).

Splitting it up is really the only way they could do it without cutting out large chunks of the original story and content, as a single portion would never generate enough revenue to make up for that obscene cost that this game is likely to run up.

I would guess altogether it's going to dwarf XIII and XIV 1.0's cost. You just can't get that level of detail and fidelity and stay true to the source material without spending a shit-ton.

So, FFVII won't be running on XV's Luminous engine, but is, instead, running on UE4.

http://www.bluesnews.com/s/167406/final-...l-engine-4

Hoping it makes a PC port simpler Big Grin Was one of those fortunate/unfortunate few to experience FFVII on the PC instead of the PSX.  Still got the four discs (The PC got an extra disc for installation, woo!) and manual, in fact.

I'm not too fussed about how the game plays, mechanic-wise, as I've got enough faith left in SE to trust them to make it interesting/enjoyable enough to hold attention, however they decide to implement it.  Honestly, just psyched to get the chance to see the world and experience the journey in a new, pretty, light Big Grin It was a hells of a journey, after all :3

I'm not sure how not wanting to shell out possibly $60.00 (Just a guess on price, this may be cheaper.) multiple times to finish a single game makes one a purist fanboy...

I'd rather wait longer and get a complete game, than pay for installments to have it quicker.
This is likely what I'll do anyways wait til it's all done and get some sort of package deal if one ever exists.

Playing some character, maybe on Balmung, maybe not.

This is more or less where I stand. If they intend to give us three 'full games' and make it 50-60 hours of gameplay each and just expand on other stuff, I am down for that. If it's Telltale style as Warren points out, that can be cool too. Really we have to wait a bit to see what exactly their plan is before saying we won't get it because of something we may not understand. Well, at least that is what I think the most rational course of action is. As for the straying away from turn based, I personally would rather them take a risk and try something new with combat then just the same as before and cash in on that. But hey, to each their own!

Also when is the FFIX remake coming? Tongue
