Ok, I finally clicked the link and looked at the original thread bit more. Â (because this day is already horrible and I can't give a f*ck with the RL things I meant to go to this morning >_< )

This seems to be the point of the event? Prizes? Lottery? Chance to get rich?

(Also, most people in RPC are in Balmung or Gilgamesh, so the big money prize wouldn't do us any good even if we made alt on that realm to take part of the event).

I'm a pretty guarded person online and rarely reveal detailed information about myself until I've known someone for quite some time. I don't have anything to hide and I'm a pretty social guy, I just like feeling safe and enjoy my privacy.

The thing is, even something as simple as revealing one's real gender can cause all sorts of issues. I won't beat around the bush: there's a notable portion of messed up individuals lurking in pretty much every online community. When I played WoW actively I had two different stalkers on separate occasions. One of them managed to piece together the information I'd given other people and found my Facebook account to begin harassing me there. The other sought to try and ruin the relationship between my partner and I so that she could have me to herself.

With that said, I don't think anyone should feel as though they need to avoid revealing stuff about themselves. They just need to be very careful and learn to recognise potential red flags. Perhaps this event really is simply one big misunderstanding, though it doesn't hurt to be cautious.

Luckily most people won't be in the situation that I and others have been in, though rarity doesn't mean it couldn't happen as unfortunate as that is.

Okay, I think this sums up most of the discussion/question generated via this topic so I'll start with this before heading to work.Â

As some have already stated, we reside on Sargatanas, which is not native to a mass community of RPs. Because we decided to open it up to the XIV community XIV community we decided to reveal the genders of our Maids & Mistresses so that for those who may not be veterans in role play or perhaps no role play background at all would not feel awkward knowing that they potentially could be RPing with a male and or female disguised as an opposite sex. Because of this we wanted to stay true to our Master's and Mistresses and decided to go ahead and give them the knowledge before hand. So while this is not a traditional thing done in RP, we wanted to make sure those who attended the event who may not have RP experience before had the choice of knowing if they so desired.Â

*Of course our Maids & Hosts have no preference when it comes to which sex they are paired with when it comes to affection.

While we have not finalized our Rules & Guidelines as of yet-- when we do please refer to this post we've already reserved. We will be taking extreme actions when it comes to ANY type of explicit sexual conduct. We're completely fine with flirtatious and innocent displays of affections. But we do not condone or support any sort of explicit cybering or player harassment.Â

We will be following FFXIVs ToS when it comes to harassment for not only our Maids & Hosts but also our Masters and Mistresses.

Also, while we do charge for our one-on-one maid time & food service, 100% of the proceeds go into our prize giveaway.

Of course as someone else stated it could always be a scam, I'll trust based off this thread and its activity on the Official Forums you can give me the benefit of the doubt that all money will 100% go to the prize giveaway. Anyone who uses our fee'd services will have their name taken given a number as well us us documenting it and at the end we'll use a random number generator to pull a number assigned to that name for all our prizes.

So it's more of a community event than an RP event.

It's a cute idea, I'll admit. However, I see the 'removal of the veil' so to speak, as more of an risk factor forÂ harassment than it is a courtesy for the comfort of the non-roleplay community. I also feel that the sort of player that would be uncomfortable Â homophobic (truth is, being uncomfortable is homophobic) is the sort of player that wouldn't bother with this sort of event to begin with.

So you are choosing to expose your participants to potential harassment in an effort to make other people feel comfotable?

Sorry, if people care about the RL Gender of the people they're RPing with, it's not RP. Â And if it's not RP, this basically amounts to an escort service.

Maybe it's deliberate, I don't know, but this is so incredibly creepy it's not even funny. Â People who would care about the RL gender of the people they're RPing with are the type of people who are into the player, not the RP. Â They're the type who stalk and harass players because they know what RL gender they are. Â It's a huge, huge danger that you are opening people up to for the sake of in-game gil.

I'd believe this except that you have structured your entire event around the RL genders of your Maids and Hosts. Â The only possible reason for you to be so focused on the genitals of the participants is if the event itself has a deeply sexual connotation. Â So sorry, I absolutely don't believe there will be no sexual aspect to this. Â If this was an RP event? Â Sure. Â But this isn't an RP event. Â This is an event where you're basically auctioning off time with actual people - not their characters, since the purchasers only care about the genitals their prospective "Maid or Host" happen to own.

Most of my thoughts are somewhere in line with Liadan's. This whole thing just gives me bad vibes.

Nice copy pasta there. But in all seriousness can you actually answer our questions? This is a few steps away from being a Second Life escourt club (I totally Googled it last night).

I applaud the effort you put into this event, anyone who puts an event together deserves respect, as I could never do it. But either you're being willfully ignorant or this was your plan all along. You're fooling yourself if you think that revealing the RL gender of hosts/maids wont encourage people to take it further then flirting. If all you wanted to do was a cutesy event why not do a date auction? Why choose a theme from fan-service anime?

I'm with Liadan, this gives me the creeps. There is 100% no reason to talk about RL genders. The idea that you would only RP with someone if you are sexually attracted to the person behind the keyboard is exactly the kind of toxic view that makes the whole community look bad.

Whatever you're doing with this event, I don't think it's RP.
