Well, kind of. Â If it's in a headlock and she gets to mockingly hit on you.

So far, Cae's joined a theatre troupe (yay), fallen in love with a long time friend who will not ever love her back (the drama from this storyline is going to be sublime), kissed a certain C'kayah in the street to see if she could embarrass or scare him (didn't work so now they're kind of friends), and is cursed, along with a whole group of people, with nightmares that affect their waking life (injuries cause injuries in waking life, death causes actual death) which we do via IC dungeon runs as the "dreams". Â

She fought in Grindstone and got her shoulder broken from Xenedra.

And she's still going around collecting people's stories about their life pre and post Calamity to make a monologue play about it.

That's all the stuff she'd done since I started playing her. Â Her past is a whole different llama.

Yeah, and that kind of totally screwed up the berserker dude, who is now paranoid about going berserk again, but it also flipped him from straight up jerkass to a vague attempt at a nice guy.

Based on his behavior at the Grindstone this last Saturday he's FAILING MISERABLY.

In all seriousness, I typically avoid (though they sometimes find me!) traumatic events such as near-deaths, kidnappings, explosions, etc. etc. just because it happens to so many other people, and things can quickly become a soap opera.

That's not to say I won't ever plan out a traumatic event, or inadvertently stumble across one, but my RP tends to be a lot more 'slice of life' style.

Anyways, Edgar. Edgar has some trauma alright, but in his past.Â

Edgar is an orphan, and was adopted by two Hyur (Highlanders) by the name of Baldan, a Scholar, and Fyora, an Arcanist. Edgar was just a babe when he lost his folks, so it wasn't until the age of 7 when he finally found out about the incident: his parents had been murdered in cold blood.

This is traumatic enough, but then we get to Baldan and Fyora. Baldan was incredibly interested in Edgar's early Aetheric potential, and pushed him to become a Scholar like himself through private tutoring and eventually handing him over to the Arcanist's Guild when he reached the appropriate age. Fyora disapproved of all of this, believing that Edgar was being pushed far too hard, with Edgar returning from the Guild exhausted, if he hadn't worked himself into a coma, at which point he would have to be carried home. This disagreement lent itself to much fighting between the two Hyur, and eventually, they broke up when Edgar had reached adulthood.Â

Edgar took it the worst way: he believes himself to be the destroyer of their marriage, sabotaging his chances at having a family in spite of his parents' murders. Though he typically hides it well, the scars are there, however loathe he is to talk about it. When asked about his past, he will do his best not to bring up how these events have affected him. Ironically, Edgar's policies towards others have him pressing his friends to stop hiding their problems, and to talk to him about how events make them feel, acting as the ultimate emotional security blanket. Each "tender" moment, however, only adds a layer of guilt to Edgar's insecurity. After all one can barely help others if they cannot first help themselves...
