Howdy, folks! Around these parts I'm using the name Grinawaeba, but Grin or Grina will suit me just fine as well!Â
While I've been playing MMOs since 2001 I have never really played a Final Fantasy game before, so this is a completely new setting for me and I'm excited to learn about it. I've been watching my girlfriend (Hammer on the forums here) play for the last couple weeks, and I've finally decided to give the game a go on her and my brother's recommendations.Â
Usually roleplaying is a pretty big part of my gaming experience, and I've heard great things about this community already. It will probably take me a bit to get a character sorted out, but I have a vague idea for Grinawaeba already.Â
The biggest thing I've struggled with lately is finding folks that are on and roleplaying at the same time I am. Due to work I tend to be a very early riser, so I'm usually only online from 6pm - 9pm EST during the weekdays, and typically more in the mornings and early afternoons on weekends. If there's an early-birds RP group out there I would love to hang out!
In game I usually like playing tank or melee DPS classes, and for FFXIV I'm planning to start with the Marauder class. (Mmmm, axes.) I just can't resist classes with big chunky plate armor. I also like crafting quite a bit and Hammer has been pretty impressed so I'm excited to check that out, but I have no idea what my focus there will be just yet.
Outside of MMOs I enjoy reading (mostly webcomics and audiobooks these days), drawing silly things, practicing for my medieval martial arts group, hiking and camping, exploring new places, and making new friends. I love dogs, ice cream, norse mythology, Neil Gaiman books, and bluegrass music. I also like talking about most of these things, and I'm always on the look out for new recommendations to try out. Though I've always wanted to dabble in cosplaying I've never found the time (or money) to do so before now, but I may start inching that way next year now that I have a decent sewing machine on hand!
That's about it. I'm excited to learn more about FFXIV and to meet more of the community!
