I'm going to kindly ask an admin/mod to close this thread. I'm getting rude posters still ('he said she said'), snarky remarks, and insults directed toward me when I don't feel I've done any wrong in inquiring an innocent question of curiosity. My decision has been made now anyways! So if a staff member could close this, it'd be appreciated.

Can the arguing stop? My intent was never to make some sort of server war, I just wanted to know where to go without having to relevel to find out. Rudeness and insults to either party for any comment are not needed. Things were said that should have been worded better, but what's said is said, it'd be best to let it go. If you do not like a server, that's fine, explain why, but please don't fall to attacking the other, or insulting ME for starting a thread of innocent inquiry. Not a big fan of being called 'stupid' for wanting to know the activity of a server. If I must I will make a request to close this thread, your input is NOT needed if it's going to just be attacks to another person/server.

I feel as if you may have taken this thread a bit personally against Balmung's server as a whole, this wasn't my intent; I was hesitant to remain on it to begin with due to OOC reasons. I am not asking with intent to sabotage Balmung's RP, I am genuinely wondering which is more active because I play MMOS -FOR- RP. The gaming part is a side piece for me when no one's on/actively RPing. I understand for other's it's different, and for others, Balmung's level of activity is plenty, but for me it is not. If it is the fact that servers are still catching up with people leveling instead of Rping, then RP should flesh out more within the amount of time it takes for server transfers to open and I'll remain on Balmung.... but if not, I sadly will be seeking a new server. I have been looking for a LS for some time now and haven't been successful, so I am still looking for one. I apologize if anyone took this badly, that wasn't my intent of the thread. I don't know anyone on Gilgamesh so I figured this was the best location to ask.

Wow... I guess I have bad luck. I tele between cities and try to find RP every 20-30 mins and have even sat in Limsa's inn for hours without sight of RP. In fact I haven't seen anyone RPing since the beginning of P3 CBT. It's weird that others keep seeing it and yet I haven't.. I must be terribly unlucky. S:

Ah gosh, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one that felt that way. I think in the end I will def be moving to Gilgamesh.. )X
-
O ___ o; Really? Jeez.. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places or something. It wasn't anywhere when I looked last in Limsa or Uldah. I'll stick around tonight and see what happens. As for rerolling on Gilga - I would but then I'd have to level all over again! I have two chars above 30, so I'm waiting for SE's server transfers. (Ofc I'll roll a char tho just to peek at the city activity first, though)

I'm curious. I took a bit of a break from the game because I've been getting no RP and I know no one; but I come back, and the game seems utterly abandoned. I spotted maybe two RPers 'walking' through the city, but no actual RP. Has it all gone the way of 'private clique' RP? With my lack of desire for a forced plot guild/FC, I can't seem to find any RP, whatsoever, even despite approaching. I know a grand number of people who hit 50 and took their leisure time doing so, so I don't imagine the mass populace is still 'leveling'... So, my question here is, is Gilgamesh more active with OPEN, PUBLIC RP than Balmung is? I'm trying to find a server I can call home, but atm the game's RP activity is making me question even staying....

I think then the terms were confusing with how it was explained. The way it was explained was that if you at any point quit a game, or played another game at the same time, you were 'hopping' from games. It sounded like: Because I'd played WoW, Tera, (and GW2 for a very short while), that I'd be excluded from a vast majority of RP development. S: Again, I apologize if it came off poorly, it's simply how it was worded I think that was taken badly. /:

I never name called- I used the term rude because it sounds rude, but it wasn't name calling in any way. Rude is a way of disrespect to an individual, something that is uncalled for and unfair, it's not in any way an insult. I apologize if you feel I was being aggressive or attacking in any way, but that wasn't my intention. My intention was to state that such an act as outright shunning people (something I stated was a primary cause of avoidance of MMO RP to begin with), is unfair and, for now lack of a better term, not nice. It scares people away from RP communities when you say you're going to block them out completely regardless of how well of a writer or how devoted to the game they are.

People are defensive because the comment basically translated to "if you played games before this one, people won't want to contribute time to you rp wise", naturally people will get defensive if you tell them something they can't go back and fix is cause for rejection. I never pinpointed my comment toward you directly, but I do find it rude and uncalled for for people to automatically shun me from any potential storyline just because I played a game before XIV. If I didn't intend to stay, I'd do what I did with GW2 - play for 2 days and quit. Yes, you're entitled to your opinion, just as I'm entitled to mine in feeling bothered by the idea. A way to avoid people abandoning your story is to get to know them before you dedicate them to a massive part of your plot, not just avoiding players with MMO background like the plague. Imho, you shouldn't be getting into romances or 'family' ties to your characters with people you don't know whatsoever - of course those people vanish/disappear. They have no value of the story because it was just winged on the spot. This is why I'll never understand those "LF SISTER TO MY OC, oh sure you rp good you'll do", because why would they feel inclined to stick around? They wouldn't. Most people'll ditch you the second they get bored. That's anyone, though, not just people who played games prior. If you befriend them and know they don't intend to leave the game/abandon the story, then that, in my opinion, is when you should go "hey are you interested in being x character relation". But /shrug. Like you said, you have your opinion, we all have our's. I do appreciate the rest of your advice, I just found it rude of anyone to automatically shun anyone for something they can't go back and change.

I feel that everyone's mistaking my/other's nervousness as being new to RP - I've been a RPer for about 12 years now, I'm in no way new to RP in MMO/Forum/Chat or any variety of RP... that doesn't make my paranoia any less. Also; the MMO hopping.. I find these comments rather rude. I played WoW for EIGHT years. Nonstop. And then I played Tera since OBT until F2P. Accusing someone of being flighty or inactive in the community or a 'hopper' because they previously played more than one game is rather unfair. Don't assume, because I'd gladly dedicate my time to a MMO if I had found an active RP community that interacted with me there. Just because I have played games in the past doesn't mean I'm gonna jump ship from this one. If the RP community fails to interact with me and actively/openly RP? Then yes, I will leave. If I get story/plot/longterm RP? No, I will definitely stay. Outcasting me and others because we played games prior is WHAT runs me and a lot of others off these 'new' games. Excluding me from your story because I slip and say "Oh I played WoW a year ago", is unfair. I'm sorry I didn't know I was only allowed to play XIV 1.0 exclusively? I didn't know that meant I wasn't allowed to RP storylines with others. This is precisely WHY I am intimidated to approach people. /: "You're not good enough for me/my story because x reason"... Anyway- Thanks everyone for your continued suggestions. I'm still terribly nervous but maybe I'll be able to approach easier soon.

Thankyou all for the replies! This community seems much nicer than the ones I had in WoW and Tera, I'll be adding those who offered for sure u w u)/ I appreciate all the suggestions, too, I'll try and look into an OOC LS and hope I can get into some RP that way. If anyone likes to they're more than welcome to add me ingame (I'm on balmung)! My characters are Vesta d'Lycaon and Dilandau Vi'Azel, I'm always open for RP if asked or walked up to, as long as I'm not about to do a dungeon with a friend or smth. Q w Q

Hey everyone... u w u)/ I developed a paranoia after years of playing different MMOs to where I am just flat out intimidated to walkup and RP, in both WoW and Tera I would be outright ignored or revoked by blatant Rpers, even if they weren't doing a private RP/already RPing. They'd opt to ignore my posts even if they were just sitting there, but would RP with what I assume to be friends as they walked up after. It makes me wonder if maybe my posts are just too long, or if my style doesn't work well with other MMO rpers. (I came from forum RP so my posts can get a bit wordy, and are written past-tense opposed to pre-tense like most MMO rpers write.... 'sighed' instead of 'sighs'... ) This makes me incredibly terrified to try and initiate RP anymore, so I often RP with myself in cities and have my ocs do their own thing, without really 'interacting' with others, but this doesn't usually lead to anyone RPing with me. How do I go about meeting new RPers like this?? I don't want to join a RP guild, as they don't suit my characters. Is there a way to kind of get over this fear, or do I just have to kind of sit in the tavern and hope for the best? Sorry if this seems like a weird question or something, I'm just really kinda stuck at what to do. (Also, given this game doesn't have any RP profile addons.. how do you tell someone's even IC if they're sitting at a tavern..? I know some people wait for walkup/RP but I don't wanna risk RPing with someone who doesn't even RP...? How awkward that'd be...) Any advice? DX ?

Well, I was moreso hoping for a dead/underpopulated JP server so I can just pay SE to put me back on the RP server later when the game dies down a bit.. but I can see why it's been merged, I suppose. I'd honestly rather stay on a dead server for now and pay them a heap of money to transfer later because who knows how long this issue will remain in place- I really truly doubt new servers will resolve the RP server clogging in the coming week. )X Oh well.

Not to complain, but I'd like a different server. This is frustrating to the point where I'm debating not playing at all, but I figure before that I may as well move servers. Are there ANY other servers people are planning to go to RP wise except Balmung/Gilgamesh that wont be so crowded? I spent 8-10 hours the past few attempts to login, non-stop, spamming 0, only to get 90k'd and have to repeat it. "Wait until next week"; that's great, but I'd rather play. So are there alt servers? If not, which is the LEAST populated JP server? Lemme know please? Q w Q??
