The game isnt meant for servers to have thousands of people on them. People have to stop thinking in WoW terms. WoW was a fluke in popularity. Not every MMO that comes out has to rival it...because they won't. They can't be planned to have the success WoW had...because not even Blizzard expected what happened to their game.

Every MMO does this though, sad as it is, because you can never have a "complete" MMO ready to ship. There are always issues, always bugs, always balancing problems or quest problems that require a lot of play time to uncover/fix and money. Most publishes push a MMO out because they get impatient and want a return on their investment, especially if a game is in development for awhile. The good thing though is that MMOs can adapt and change with time, look at Age of Conan.

Primary and Secondary tools both have different potential outcomes for your synth. Some synths will give you a bonus to how many you make if you use a secondary tool or primary, usually it makes sense as well. Making lumber with a saw can HQ bonus lumber, since a saw is obvious for doing something like that. They also factor into when making an item if you HQ+1/+2/+3 it. I use my secondary tool when it seems obvious I would use it, awl for making boots as leatherworker, saw for making lumber and masks, etc etc.

This post is 100% fact and I agree. There's no ifs, ands or buts. Always wait to tip the crafter before they try with your mats or even theirs incase of failure. Like has been said, if they are your mats and an HQ happens and the crafter refuses to give you the item, that is in fact a ToS violation. If the item HQs and they have a NQ on their person and give you that instead, and you had no agreement before hand, well your own fault in that regard. If its the crafters mats and they HQ, that's now the crafters item and they can do what they want with it. If its the crafts mats and they fail, well you should still be tipping them because they just lost a lot of shit trying to do something for you. I know when I repair peoples weapons sometimes I fail, and I expect to be compensated for my fail if using my own materials.

Grouping Post 20 is the only way to get some decent SP gain. This game gives a certain % bonus to your SP gain the more people in a group, so you have to pace that with how fast you can kill a mob because killing a mob too fast results in less SP gain for everyone. It's the same as FFXI, its all about knowing what monsters will reward your group with challenge and SP gain. Duoing/trioing crabs in Limsa can last you 15-20 and most high level players right now got there only via grouping. Make sure your tank knows not to hit his taunt at the start of the fight, because the mob will not have a hate table, everyone needs to take part in an action while the mob is engaged, then taunt will generate a ton of threat.

If you're rank 10 and in Grid, head to Emerald Moss and go a bit north of there to the large circle patches you see on your map. Most are covered in marmots and a few bees, roselings. You can level up on those for a while then move onto the monkeys nearby at 13-14. Or you can do puk hatchlings around 12 around Limsa and dodos around Limsa will con green to yellow at 14-15.

FFXIV reusing textures on their maps! Alert the Internet!

I did all that and more. I realized the forest near me is FULL of copy-pasted trees so I set a giant fire in the forest to burn them all down. Also I noticed a few clouds in the sky looked very similar, im trying to figure out a way to darken the sky completely! -

Actually in the context of Final Fantasy MMO they do serve a purpose, that of communicating with people who do not speak your language. I havnt tried out the chat much to see if we have the auto translate stuff from FFXI, i'm guessing we do, but emotes are another way to convey to people what is going on. Most games with player housing also allow you to customize the look of it with items gathered or created by the player. This in turn gives another carrot on the stick to keep people playing and serves a gameplay purpose of sorts.

I'm also not sure, as I have not personally coded for an MMORPG, but I do know that jumping lead to a whole host of problems in WoW. Granted a lot were pvp but they were easily adapted for pve as well. Being able to jump onto ledges and glitch bosses to get "Watch him die" achievement. Jumping any sort of stun in pvp completely negated the stun, locked the person in animation and let you run pretty far away. Wall climbing was another major issue they cracked down on...sadly...as I loved to wall climb into Hyjal. It could be that a lot of the rocks, and other things are actually just painted on and do not actually have collision detection and you would just pass through them into oblivion (this happened a lot to me in WoW). This can be solved with creating invisible walls everywhere, but that also can result in clipping issues if a person is hugging a wall to avoid aggro. I'm not sure what the seismic shock animation looks like, do you actually jump or is it a flip of some sort? They could have just been lazy and not wanted to code a jump animation. They did use a lot of motion capture for the game, but perhaps asians just don't got no ups? Edit:Nifty thing I found when looking for how high an average person can jump: http://www.exrx.net/Calculators/VerticalJump.html

US Federal Appeals: "No 1st Sale Doctrine for Software"

Capitalism is a great system, especially when you just let companies begin to monopolize areas because they give you kickbacks and fund your campaigns! :cheer: I'm sure Gamestop will strike a profitable deal with developers where they give them a %cut, and in turn developers will up the price of games by 10$ or so...or just continue to make shit games with a whole 5hrs of gameplay, sell it for 63$ and then go "Well it HAS multiplayer!" -
That's fine and all, but realism in a fantasy MMO setting doesn't work sometimes. Games, movies and books require us to put aside what we know is fact about the real world and suspend our belief. Perhaps the gravity is 20x greater in Eorzea, perhaps the armor is heavier then real armor, perhaps the fictional races are not built for jumping, perhaps our characters all have lame knees or tore a ligament in track&field. :study: There are thousands of reasons you could even make up for why your character can not jump RPwise, and you don't need to be able to jump to RP effectively. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
