It seems that they finally restricted access to all realms save for Faerie and Exodus sometime after making this announcement (then shut access to them down, and put up the above servers). Been refreshing once every 30 minutes since the first day myself. That is, until I finally just collapsed and got some sleep around the same time people are saying they reopened it briefly. Let's hope they don't have such restrictions come Early Access and actually employ their queue system so that friends are able to play with each other. That or have the old "world pass" system implemented if you have a friend on the server that is able to get you one. Edit: Maybe if we all create characters on these realms, they will start to think they're filling up and reopen the others? Hah... Well, considering that even if you have characters on a realm, you're still locked out from making others... it may very well work.

Started on Gilgamesh just to spend some time with some friends (despite having old characters), and I was met by some hostility as well. Finally convinced my friends to go on Balmung (by saying I'd make a new toon as well), and surprisingly I have not seen a single troll. Just questions being asked, and very kind responses (Limsa Territory). Saw a few random RPers as well, in addition to getting asked politely several times if I wanted to team up for FATEs. Probably the best community I've ever seen, even by 1.0 standards (though I only played a single character from one to twenty before running into system errors). The only "bad" name I've seen was someone named "Darth Vader", but he was very nice and no fights broke out that I saw. The only problem I'm getting now is that I can't make any new characters on there, and we all had ideas to start new characters again. But I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone who reads this that is on Balmung, in addition to rooting people on who have to establish a new community on a new sever. Hang in there and I'm sure you'll be accepted or acclimate to the culture that is coming in from all types of different games.

I actually did complete the whole story. Though I didn't finish the Grand Company quests as I was just focusing on maxing out all my crafting. If that's true, then that's kind've odd. My character was there when the server called for people to come to the area and witness the final battle. Edit: It would still be somewhat strange if this was the case as people should remember your character if they weren't enveloped into that light and sent to the forest. Hmm...

Hello! The beta forums seem to be down for me, and no where else (whether it be another forum or politely asking in game chat) seems to have an answer for my question. I have a friend who claims that old characters get a different starting scene that I've been unable to unlock with my three characters from 1.0. With each of them I've been given the new player cutscenes. Back in the last phase of beta I read that this was an accepted bug by Square and that it would be fixed. This friend claims to have been put in a forest when starting the game, and I'm starting to wonder if he's just trolling me a bit. :lol: Do we still get a unique opening cutscene, or do we have to proceed in the storyline a bit before we see something like it? The information I've read on it (before the site was hit with the expected traffic) has been rather slim, even from people on the beta forums who claimed to get it.
