Yep, I might give them a shot too.. but before I decide on FreeCompany, I want to first decide the server - torn between Balmung and Odin atm. And I don't want to join the free company, when I'm unsure I'll stay on their server.

I believe that Odin and moogle will have more EU players than Balmung, after all they are EU marked. Though Moogle became house of French, and speaking in English is being frowned upon. Odin seems to be more English-speaker friendly. To really see how many us do play on Balmung, we will need to check during working days not on weekend. Time of events might be problematic or endgame raids, because casual RP and Duty Finder quests should be aviable

I'm bit disappointed with both unofficial RP servers - Moogle EU and Balmung. On Moogle just few minutes after it was created, the neverending war between French and English started, with everyone accusing the other side of "it's our home, for our langugage, and yours will not be tolerated". On Balmung, as always on any RP server, the crusade against "Silly people with silly names" started with all the "Get out from our precioussssss RP server, you morons" (actual quotes). The voices of reason of "there is no RP tag, no naming policy, stop blaming people for playing how they want" and "unless they break the RP, I've nothing against them" were quickly silenced. So far, I'm really tempted to stay away from RP servers for a month or two, until situation calms down.

Thanks guys for replies. Once the Early Access starts (providing I'll get the code from EU Square Enix store ), I'll roll my characters on Balmung then. And if events are concerned, provided they happen on weekend, I won't have a problem with playing at 2 a.m

I know that unofficial RP server for EU is propably going to be Moogle, but as it's mostly french server, and I don't know much French, I'm bit on the fence to go there. I was thinking of Balmung, but as it's US player and I also like to do pure PvE stuff alongside with RP, I'm curious, if there will be enough players in my playtime (I think it will be about 3pm-7pm EST time), so I can play with others there

So, here's few things about me: --MMORPG background - started with DDO, which was and still is one of my most favourite MMOs, then it was LotrO, WoW, short Rift adventure and Old Republic --RP experience - if it's pen and paper, then I've been RPing for about 18 years if it's MMO RP experience, then it varies. I done that a lot in WoW and Rift, but couldn't get in touch with RP in Old Republic --Character ideas/info Future Hyur midlander paladin and Mi'qote moonish white mage . As far as the RP ideas are concerned, I'm trying first to get familiar with lore and customs and such, and then I'll think of something about my characters --How did you learn about the coalition? Final Fantasy forums - one of the posters signature --What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy? I'm rather medium kind of RPer. I like events or just free RP, but I'm not great fan of classic "tavern RP", and I'm afraid of heavy RP guilds that end in dramas between members and such childish behaviour. --Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc) I'm 34 years old journalist from Poland - I like fantasy and SF (Honor Harrington and Elenium/Belgariad along with Conan are my favourite series).
