  1. I was just pointing out that people do have a reason to be frustrated/angry even if the issues are being ironed out and remedied. To feign ignorance as to why people have such frustrations or to taunt/belittle them over it is shameful. I am not accusing anyone of doing that just throwing it out there.
  2. Because we should be happy we are not playing a game we paid for, right? Right. :cactuar:
  3. "I'm logged in. FYGM " Actually, I wouldn't and have not done the same- probably because I am a considerate human being without an insufferable level of entitlement Same. I wouldn't be able to do that because it isn't fair and is pretty selfish. The sad reality a good majority is doing that very thing.
  4. I don't mean to discredit anything you just said but you don't work for SE and I highly doubt you have worked on any MMOs. All we can do as fans and players of such games is speculate but I am sure there is more to it than just that. They are beefing up the NA/EU data servers the last update I read. They are going to make them bigger and allow character creation back on servers again in due time.
  5. Wow! I thought this thread was going to be dead after my Tonberry post! :tonberry: I have beta tested a few MMOs myself and know the problems always exist at the beginning. This doesn't mean the frustration and anger is any easier considering you are trying to play and level with friends. We managed to get on Balmung after hours of my buddy not being able to get on. It is a real chore considering we have limited time to play together. The last 3-4 updates from SE is "severe limitations to logins" with not much else. I have seen a few people voice their concerns about the 'maintenance' being done as merely wiping the servers to boot out all the people AFK for hours. A rumor without facts but sounds like it can be true even in the slightest. I logged in to a guy bragging about going AFK since 9:30 in the morning and just came back in the evening from work. It really baffles me as to why SE has not implemented something as simple as a AFK logout timer. You don't want to ruffle feathers? Make it a 20 minute timer. If you are stuck in the bathroom for more than 20 minutes then you might have a problem. Sometimes real life happens and you can try to get back in whenever you take care of whatever business you have. ..but to force everyone to try to keep logging in because you are afraid you will be locked out after you get home from work? That just isn't right.
  6. They should have done more to prepare for this I think. Investing extra money and being over prepared for the second launch of a game that had one of the most terrible launches in gaming history is better than being ill prepared and getting caught with your pants down. You want to give the players giving you a second chance a good impression rather than a poor one if you want to keep them paying the monthly subscription. :tonberry:
  7. I was leaning towards Gilgamesh originally because it was a brand new server but glad to get on Balmung as both have good RP communities from what I have lurked and read on the forums here. I am just upset that after my tireless efforts of trying to get in Balmung now I can't play the game because there are no queue times. Just an error that boots me back to the main screen each and every time. Yesterday there were queue times so I am not sure why there wouldn't be now. I wonder if this is SE's way of telling us not to play our characters on that server. Very disheartening that we have to waste time to try and log in at the "right" time rather than enjoying the game without a worry or care in the world. I instinctively flinch when I see an instance taking a little bit of time to load.
  8. Update: I finally managed to get into Balmung somehow. No dice on Gilgamesh. My friend also managed to sneak in. But now everyone is being hit with the 'server full unable to log in' errors. NA/EU worlds just went down again. With the game launching officially in two days do you think they are prepared? I have beta tested and been through the launch of a few MMOs and I know issues are bound to rise up but they should beef up the sizes of their servers. It is obvious that NA/EU servers are really popular yet they have fewer servers than the JP side and the JP side have rarely come across any issues. I was really hoping they could pull this off without a hitch! Anyone else locked out right now?? :cactuar:
  9. ...and of course the launch doesn't go as planned and I was unable to create my character on Gilgamesh or Balmung. So now what? My friend and I are out of luck? I sincerely doubt we can make characters later this afternoon. I think SE really dropped the ball on this one. I understand wanting to fill up the low pop servers but their main concern should have been to want friends to play together. Severely disappointed.
  10. My shift doesn't start till a little later but my friend generally needs to bolt to his job a whole lot sooner than I. We will be ready. I will have my password typed and ready to hit enter when servers are estimated to launch.
  11. I see I got a few more replies. Thanks again for the insight and helpful information. I will be setting my alarm for 3:45 AM. A good 15 minutes before servers are believed to launch Central time. I was thinking that SE would increase the size or at the very least allow characters to be made on popular servers for the initial hours before they start to regulate the flow once more. While I would rather keep my levels I noticed that the first few levels are quite easy to get.
  12. Ugh. I might be able to pull it off though I have a morning shift on Saturday. I am not sure my friend could. I can try to convince them. The servers are going to be up 2am PDT, right? Meaning 4am central??
  13. I know exactly what you mean. My friend and I got the short end of the stick trying to get in on either of the unofficial RP servers. I will be trying to get in early Saturday morning hoping we can sneak in and create our characters before heading out to work for the day.
  14. Thank you all for posting information. I saw quite a few views but no bites for awhile. While I do want to transfer my character over I really just want to get on Balmung or Gilgamesh because I have been reading some of the posts for events on the site and I am really impressed with the effort everyone is pouring in to make strong RP communities within the game. I can only hope the servers will be open for new characters after I get home from work Saturday afternoon! If anyone hears anything else feel free to post it here.
  15. I had a question for those familiar with transfers and the like. A friend and I wanted to make characters on either Gilgamesh or Balmung but by the time we started the Open Beta the servers were already full. We waited around for an hour or so just trying to see if we can get in but SE had already made a post on their twitter opening new servers and closing off the populated ones. It came to a point that only the two new servers they opened were the only servers accepting new characters. I know it only got this bad because of the open beta and the herd would be thinned come early access and launch time. My question is how would we get our characters to Balmung or Gilgamesh? Will transfers be something allowed from the very start? I remember GW2 having something similar like that in the early launch phase. It allowed you to migrate your character. Or are the transfers going to happen much later? We put in some time on leveling up to help us get started in the early access but I was just curious. I would not mind starting a brand new character on either of the RP servers but if they are going to stay locked then what can fellow RPers who are in the same boat as us do? Any insight, links or help would be greatly appreciated!
