1. Sorry for the double-post! I just wanted to give a quick update here! Recruitment is open again! Since we've pretty much been allowing people in and recruiting despite our invitation only period, we've decided to just open it up again! We have reached about 45 - 50 members! We are very excited to have so many awesome, friendly and fun people and role-players in our midsts! We've added additional custodians! With the increase in members, we've also increased the amount of custodians to help administrate everything and organise events! We've only added one additional so far, but we may add one more soon! The "About us" tab has been updated with addictional and altered information! Much of this information is regarding our recruitment process, the way we organise and have role-playing events and the like! This can also be found here: http://ttg-ffxiv.enjin.com/forum/m/17086942/viewforum/3211490 We have a lot of activities going on! Between a lot of role-playing events, casual role-play and PvE, there's always a lot going on in the guild! You can see more here: http://ttg-ffxiv.enjin.com/events
2. You're certainly welcome either way! Whether you want to join the FC or just come to our events and possibly join the LS! It's all good ^^
3. We've had our first custodian livestream! Feel free to have a listen and comment if you wish! zu09g6V5C10
4. It's time for a little update from The Travellers Guild! All is going well and swell! We are around 30 - 35 members and we're falling into a nice routine with lots of RP and lots of events! Tuesday evenings is the PvE Night! It's not a forced thing, but an evening where it's encouraged to help each other with dungeons, fates and the like! Sunday evenings we have a weekly role-playing event! They're smaller role-playing events, where the guild goes out to do some job! We had two so far. The first was an exploration of the Sagoli desert, where a trickster wizard had been causing trouble! The second was an escort from Gridania to The Forgotten Springs. A rather annoying and suicidal Lalafel was going to help with the wizard in Sagoli! These guild jobs are minor events, meant to spark some RP and get together, but they're not grand, in-depth plotlines. It's worth noting, that we are keeping our guild events open to everyone! Not just members of the guild. We are aware, that there aren't -that- many European role-play events being arranged on Balmung, so we wanted to keep the option to join ours open, for those who like to stay in Raid guilds and the like. We are having a Custodian Livestream on Friday the 18th of October! It's an OOC event, where the admins of the guild, are going to share some information about the guild and EU role-play in general on the server! Feel free to listen in! Furthermore, we've initiated our first major guild plotline! Redwolf's shadow! The first event is a cozy storytelling event north of Costa Del Sol! Here is a little promo to our plotline! Redwolf's Shadow The revivification of The Travellers Guild fares well. More and more people of all walks of life are joining together as travellers of the guild. They help each other, they travel together, they go on adventures together, they work together and they laugh together. The reputation of the guild is growing, causing more and more people to hire the guild to aid them in their happenings. The guild is aspiring to reach its former glory. Five years ago, the travellers guild was all but destroyed in the Calamity. It was two survivors of the former travellers guild, who hired Magdalena Duskwarden to rebuild the guild, that they once were part of and loved. They themselves could not partake in this responsibility, due to their obligations to the Eorzean Economic Company. But they were the catalyst, the sponsors and the guides for it to happen. But as the guild blossoms and grows, it is easy to forget what came before. Most of what the guild once was, has been forgotten. The people who once called themselves travellers of the guild have passed into legend. Their feats and accomplishments have been lost to the ages. But some things deserve to be remembered. Some things should not be forgotten. Alas, the shadows of the past are stirring. Unbeknownst to all, unseen forces move to act. For though some may forget, others will not; and they have an agenda of their own. One shadow will not remain forgotten. The shadow of Redwolf.
5. Poke one of the Custodians mentioned above in game, I'm sure we can work something out. ^^ On another note! We had our first guild event yesterday! Nice turn up and people seemed to enjoy themselves! Check out the screenhots from the event here. Here's a few random ones:
6. Thanks Dogberry! It's always a pleasure to role play with you as well! And you're welcome to hang out with us! A little status update, folks! We've reached 22 members in ten days, with a few more on the way. Therefore we are closing recruitment for now and restricting it to invitation only, in case members have friend, who they really want to play with in the game. That being said, don't be discouraged from RPing with us and contact us if you're interested, we just need a little time for everyone to get to know each other!
7. Hello everyone! The guild is taking shape and we are slowly growing in numbers! Our page here has been updated with the guild history, a little extra information about us, and with a new logo! The website is taking shape as well, so feel free to have a look! We are still interested in having new members join our ranks, as well as making allies to role play with! So feel free to poke us if you're interested!
8. For some people, a journey is but the spatial transition from one place to another. For The Travellers Guild it is so much more. To travel is to experience, and to experience is to grow. To grow, reach new heights and to realise your dreams is what The Travellers Guild is all about. At The Travellers Guild we know, that each person's journey is as different and unique as the snowflakes of Coerthas. A journey can be of a spiritual nature; a pilgrimage. It can be a path of learning, going from novice to master, or it can be the realisation of a lifelong goal. For some, a journey is simply the pleasure of the open road and the thrill of adventure, while for others, it is the road from rags to riches and glory. Whatever the nature of your path may be, you need not walk it alone. To join The Travellers Guild is to gain a sponsor, a network and a group of friends. The Travellers Guild offers aid, teaching, training, companionship and in some instances capital, to help you on your path. Equally, we seek members to aid the guild in providing these services. If one path has come to an end, The Travellers Guild can aid you in finding a new. In turn, The Travellers Guild asks, that you carry our seal with pride and behave in a manner, that does not belittle the guild. Crime and ill intent will not be tolerated. At times, the guild may call upon you, to aid in guild business. This can include odd jobs on behalf of the guild, such as couriering, scouting, exploration or escortation of merchants. Similarly the guild may call on you to aid other members of the guild on their path or if they are in trouble. While The Travellers Guild is no military organisation, we may rally in times of dire need, to aid where we can. Members of The Travellers Guild are connected by linkshell and occasional meetings. A courtesy that may be extended to close friends and allies of the guild. Should you wish to join The Travellers Guild, contact one of our custodians in either Limsa Lominsa, Ul'dah or Gridania. May Oschon guide you onto safe paths. High Custodian - Rinh Hallani Custodian of Limsa Lominsa - Custodian of Gridania - Darte Skyphire Custodian of Ul'dah - U'tara Taki Custodian of Supplies and Logistics - Taeh Marchand Guild History: Guild History The Travellers Guild was founded in the Sixth Astral Era, when the Hyur first migrated into Eorzea. As the Hyurian numbers on the continent grew, so did their need for growth and expansion. The guild was initially sponsored by wealthy and ressourceful Hyurian, to aid in exploring and mapping the far reaches of Eorzea, and thus aiding in Hyurian expansion. The guild was founded by the Hyurian Cadwallon Walker and an Elezen by the name of Gileisoux Threndivuen. Seeing as in the early days of the guild, its interest seemed purely in Hyurian expansion, the nature of Gileisoux involvement in the guilds founding has been a subject of debate. Some claim, that Gileisoux was forced by Cadwallon to aid the guild, seeing as Gileisoux was already well travelled in Eorzea before the Hyur arrived. Others claim, that they founded it together, byway of strengthening the relationship between Elezen and Hyur. For hundreds of years, the travellers guild stood strong, exploring and mapping every forest, mountain and crevice of Eorzea. During this period, other races began joining the guild as well, making the guild less centered around Hyurian purpose alone. But as the remaining corners of Eorzea were discovered, the sole purpose of The Travellers Guild was diminishing. When Roddard Ironheart drafted the first complete map of Eorzea, many of the long term and loyal sponsors of The Travellers Guild withdrew their support. They claimed incompetence within the guild, believing that they should have been the first to create such a map. The withdrawl of the sponsor's support was a hard blow to the guild. Suddenly they found themselves at a precipise. They could either perish or adapt their purpose to become self-profecient. They chose the latter and major changes ensued. Now, like other guilds, The Travellers Guild began taking on jobs to maintain the guild. The primary jobs consisted of escortation of merchants and travellers, pathfinding, couriering and even protection and rebuilding. The Travellers Guild survived, but they were struggling with a poor reputation. After the creation of a map of Eorzea and the withdrawl of the sponsors, few would join the guild and fewer would hire them. Again, looking to survive, the guild made an addendum to their purpose. They become less focused on the guild as a whole, and more focused on the individuals within it. They offered a place within the guild to those who sought to better themselves and achieve their personal goals. In turn, the members would occassionally aid with jobs and the goals of other members. This move was a great success and for a time, the guilds reputation and standing grew. Many people joined and by aid of the guild, achieved their goals. Then more joined and the spiral continued. The guild got more jobs and all was well. But it was short lived. Nearly all of the guild was destroyed in the calamity. It was beyond repair. Survivors of the guild went on to join The Eorzean Economic Company and now, they seek to sponsor the revivification of The Travellers Guild. About Us: About Us We are a European based, medium-high RP and PvE guild. We won't refuse applicants based on time zones or regions, but we warn, that time zone differences may conflict with event times and level of activity. Despite having grown to a medium-large role-playing guild, we are attempting to keep a close knit player base, with whom we can enjoy role play and the game itself. We work hard to keep a fun and friendly atmosphere for everyone! The guild especially promotes personal storylines, with the guild as the centerpoint for sharing and participating in each other's character's development and role play. Equally, we hope, that the theme may prove a way for people to incorporate the guild itself as a foundation for plots and ideas. Both in-character and out-of-character, we'd be happy to help you get started. Lastly, we will also have guild-wide plots, roleplay and gatherings. We also focus on having a lot of role-playing events! Both action, social, plotline based and casual events! There is much happening with us! You can see our event calendar here: http://ttg-ffxiv.enjin.com/events'>http://ttg-ffxiv.enjin.com/events Free Company chat will be kept out-of-character, but we will have an in-character linkshell, that will function as a means of contact between the members of the guild. It's possible that characters, who have proven valuable and cherished friends of the guild, may receive a linkpearl. We are interested in networking with other roleplaying guilds, in order to have cross-guild roleplay, social as well as plot-based. Regarding ranks and roles, we hope to create an atmosphere, where everyone have an equal say, and where nobody needs to feel undermined. That being said, there's of course a need for a few people, who coordinate, delegate and administrate, so that everything doesn't fall into anarchy and chaos! But even so, everyones voice are weighed equally and everyone have the opportunity to help shape the guild, the role play and the events! To learn more specifically about our ranks, check out the website! You can learn more about our guild, how we dungeon master events, the recuitment process, ranks, roles and more by looking at the following link: http://ttg-ffxiv.enjin.com/forum/m/17086942/viewforum/3211490 If you are interested in joining, feel free to contact any custodian in game, make a post here or send one of us a private message. You can also check out our website and fill out an application! The website is at http://ttg-ffxiv.enjin.com Guidelines: Guidelines Rules of conduct are simple. Use your common sense, be respectful and mindful of the other members. It’s okay to goof around and have a laugh, but if someone feels uncomfortable or asks you to stop, do so. Remember, that your behaviour reflects on the guild as a whole. We try to keep In-character-rules simple as well. Abide by basic rules, such as no godmodding, metagaming and power-emoting. We attempt to abide by the game lore as much as possible, using it as a guideline and basis for both role play and characters. Slight additions or diversions to it is fine, and can only really be judged on a case-to-case basis. Relationship based role play is perfectly viable, but if you engage in any mature / erotic role play, keep it in a private chat. Remember, that your role play reflects on the guild as a whole. The aim is to have fun and role play within the game! Sadly, out-of-character drama has a tendency to follow these kinds of communities, so if any such issues arise between members or if you dislike how guild business are handled, do speak up. We are open about such things and we will listen. If you have recurring issues with other member(s) and you can’t seem to sort it out amongst each other, or you feel apprehensive about approaching said member(s), let us know and we will attempt to mediate. The website and forum rules are equally simplisic. Use your common sense and be respectful towards others. If there are things to be discussed, try not to flame and act civil. Furthermore, don't post anything illegal, pornographic or offensive material.
9. I put this roleplay outfit together for my Highlander, which I'm quite fond of: _
10. Updated with a link to Magdalena's background story and a theme song befitting her!
11. The Children of the Mountains Magdalena Duskwarden's Tale Boom. Boom. Boom. Explosions in the distance, moving closer with each passing moment. It's been twenty years, since the Garlean Empire came upon Ala Mhigo with their devastating magitek. It was as if Rhalgr himself swept across the city, raining fire and destruction in his wake. I was only eight at the time. I remember hearing the explosions from inside, thinking it was thunder. By the time my parents realised what was happening, they sent me to safety with my older brother, Oswulf. They, along with my other brother, Osburh, moved to defend the city. I never saw them again. My name is Magdalena; Magdalena Duskwarden, if that matters to you. After the atrocities at Ala Mhigo, Oswulf and I made it to safety in the desert, along with other Ala Mhigan refugees. This was to be my home for many moons to come. Many refugees did not stay in the desert and moved onto Ul'dah. Some fled even further. But my brother and I stayed with the highlanders, who would become the Ala Mhigan resistence. It's funny how things turn out. I never wanted to be a warrior. I never wanted to fight. As a little girl, I would hear tales of great warriors. The heroes amongst the Highlanders. I wanted to write and tell their tales. I wanted to sing their praise and paint their likeness. It's what the young Magdalena wanted. At least before the Garlean Empire took our home. I could never forget what happened at Ala Mhigo. None of us could. It took a lasting grip upon our hearts. In fact now, twenty years later, thunder still makes me anxious. Instead of writing tales, I learned to fight; instead of telling them, I learned to command. Singing became warcries and painting was but the art of war, splashed in red. That was the only choice, when growing up with warriors of a single mind, united by heritage, a desire to return home and a collective hatred towards the Garlean empire. Some would say, that it wasn't a bad life, not for us. For we are Highlanders. We are the children of the mountains. With strength in our muscles and courage in our hearts, we will abide. By sword and shield and the roar of our voices, we will take back, what was taken from us. We will return home. At least that's what I want to believe. That's what I used to believe. I grew up to become a warrior, neither the finest or the worst. I became a protector. My job was to protect, what remained of our people. To keep us secret and safe from the empire and anyone else, who would cause us harm. I did so for many moons and over time, people began to call me Magdalena the Warden. Fifteen years later we yet endured, but never did we take back Ala Mhigo. And then, the calamity. My brother died fighting the Garlean Empire, mere hours before the elder primal Bahamut descended from the stars and set Eorzea ablaze. I survived, having remained behind to protect our people. As Eorzea burned and despair spread amongst its people, so burned the hopes for our cause. At least for me. I lost heart. I remained with my people for almost a year, before I left and took the name Duskwarden. I wish I had a grand tale to share about the name. A better tale, than a little girl asking me where I was going, as I was leaving my people in the early hours of the night. “Where are you going, miss Duskwarden?” she asked me with a quiet and timid voice, while I was mounting Mhi'rhalgr, my chocobo companion. I never answered her. I just looked down at the dark skinned and redhaired girl. She reminded me of myself. “When will you be back?” I heard her ask as I rode away. You might think me a coward and a part of me think it's true. But I'm not asking for your pity or a handout. This is simply what happened. Perhaps someday, courage and purpose will return to my heart. Perhaps someday, a highlander will ascend and unite our people once more, that we may take back our home. While my heart yearns for this, more than anything, during my travels I've come to realise, that we can't simply fight for Ala Mhigo. We have to fight for the future of all Eorzeans. If we don't, there might not even be a home to take back. Author's note I hope you found it enjoyable to read! Comments and feedback are welcome! Magdalena Duskwarden wanders around on the Balmung server, if you feel like meeting up for some roleplay or have some ideas, feel free to poke me! =) _
12. I. Basic Info Characters: Magdalena Duskwarden Primary character: Magdalena Duskwarden Linkshells: Europa Primary RP linkshell: Europa, none IC. II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium to heavy. I like a lot of RP, continuous, epic storylines and character development! Sometimes lighthearted, other times deep and serious! I don't like being too tied down to specific times every week, but I enjoy just taking RP as it comes! Views on RP combat and injuries: I enjoy both! I prefer emotes and dice rolls for the combat itself, while I dislike PvP for roleplaying combat. It leaves the outcome to player skill, rather than anything IC based; and it's not as descriptive. If rolls aren't available, then a little ooc-whispering can sort it out. Ás I see it, if you're willing to put your character into combat, you should also be willing to suffer injuries. Views on IC romance: I'm all good with romantic and relationship themes within roleplay! If it happens, it happens! However, I dislike if it becomes the sole focus of roleplay. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): All sorts of character relations and interactions are great if you ask me. It just adds a foundation and flavour to the roleplay. I love different groups as well e.g. bandits, hunters, vanguards etc. Views on lore: I love lore! I'm still new to Eorzea's lore, but I like looking into the background of different races and people. It helps giving roleplay a backround and ways to spice up characters! I prefer to stick by lore when roleplaying as well, but I'm not a facist about it. One thing I dislike is if roleplayers blatantly use concepts from other fictional universes within another. Like vampires and werewolves in Final Fantasy. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I'm not always in-character. Sometimes I'm just questing, but even then, if I'm approached IC, I'll switch to IC, because random RP is awesome! Linkshells work IC as a way for communicating across distances, but otherwise I prefer guild chats and the like to be kept ooc. III. Other Info Country: Denmark Timezone: GMT+1 Contact info: PM me on this site, or whisper me ingame! IV. Character Name: Magdalena Duskwarden Nicknames: Mag, Magda, “That burly lady over there” Race: Hyur, Highlander Gender: Female Age: Twenty-eight Placeof Birth: Ala Mhigo Current Residence: Ul'dah and the surrounding areas Occupation: Sword for hire, mostly protection. Appearance: Magdalena is a large Highlander, reaching 6'14” tall with a muscular and robust build. She has dark, smooth skin and her long red hair, with black stripes, is usually tied up in a ponytail. Her bright blue eyes stand in contrast to her otherwise dark features, almost making it look as if they glow. While her face is unscathed, she has a quite a few battle scars, scattered around her body. Depending on the situation, Magdalena's attire varies between casual clothing and heavy armouring, though she rarely wears flashy colours. Personality: Givenher appearance, Magdalena may come across as intimidating and often she doesn't quite think her actions through, causing her to ends up in humorous or awkward situations. But underneath her warrioresque, clumsy and careless demeanour, she hides a wholly different person. Background: The Children of the Mountains [Magdalena's tale] Fitting Theme Song: dRnKJ1t3J-8 _
13. Welcome to you as well! \o/ for us new people.
14. Thank you! As for the nickname.. I think it developed from a character I had in lotro. A hobbit called Snibs. Over time it became Snibbers and it stuck. Hehe. Also. I updated with the template, in case people were interested!
15. Hello everyone, I'm Daniel, but I go by the alias Snibbers on the world wide interwebs! I've been looking around, reading some stories and a little about your Free Companies. It looks like you have a nice community going on here! I'm looking forward to becoming part of it! Hopefully I won't be chased out by an angry mob with torches and pitchforks. I'm far from new to roleplay or Final Fantasy, though I am new to Eorzea. So I'm still in the process of finding my way and familiarising myself with the lore and the world. I've joined with a group of friends and we're still a little uncertain if we'll try to make our own Free Company, or if we'll join up. Time will tell! We're hoping to get involved with more European roleplayers like ourselves, but the 'merican crowd too, when timezones allow it! :3 In any case, it's a pleasure to be here and I'm looking forward to getting to know you guys better. - Snibbers ------------------ MMORPG background I mostly play MMORPGs to enjoy the PvE and roleplay. I've been in WoW, GW 1 & 2, AoC, LOTRO, TSW, EQ, WAR, SWTOR and probably some more I can't remember right now. RP experience Started with PnP about a decade ago, no LARP, but plenty of forum/text, MMO and PnP. Character ideas/info My main character so far, is a Highlander with a grudge against the Garlean Empire, who's still trying to find her way. Nothing mindblowing. How did you learn about the coalition? Google! What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy? Medium to heavy. I like serious, in depth roleplay with events and all. But I don't like being too tied down to specific times and places so it becomes a chore! Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc) I study Digital Design at university. I'm an avid gamer and I roleplay a lot. I like fiction and such. Probably pretty standard around here!
