I get those tech support issues too. I teach online, so am always trouble-shooting for students, and then teaching faculty who like to open attachments in emails. *shiver* But I don't have to do software issues all day--know that gets draining. A.E.T.H.E.R. folk will be good to hang out with and let you blow off frustration. Wonder if they are going to be doing events? What kind? Mia

Is so true. Saw you in RL thread. Spooky resemblence.

I have no words for that Were-platypus.... SCARY. There that was one.
-
WIN :cheer:

Werelampreys....I be getting visions, and they ain't pretty. Werefish? Wait those would be mermaid/men things. Been done. Werefly? Ditto--see bad B movie that I love anyway. Werehorse! Wait, um centaur. Dang. I fail at new weres. Oh, and I refuse for my Miqo'te to have fleas. Nada. Or like catnip. Or milk. And nobody better grab my tail...unless inivted.

*smacks Soren gently* My WoW hunter had a worgen as a pet until they fixed the glitch--he was hot. I quit playing after they took him away from me. But yep, agree, would like to see some other beast/humanoid choices at some point. JUST NOT SPARKLY BAT PEOPLE.
-
Yeah, Mia I see as much more panther/predatory, NOT cutesy catgirl AT ALL. I think of feline as proud. Then again, want her to be curious and a bit jumpy/hyper. AND now I see that open beta has been postponed.
-
You know, come to think of it, I have some very different cats at home. One is a goof-ball who has never met a stranger. Another disdains all contact except on HIS terms. Another can't climb anything. Another, well you get the idea. And let's not even talk about the six babies I rescued last night who wanted to sit on my feet and sleep. (And they call that many felines a "litter" for good reason So maybe there is hope for some individuality. I promise to not purr in public unless absolutely necessary. But yeah, the cat emote thing could get pretty disturbing after a bit since there are so many of us. M.
-
Have to jump in on the /purr emote. Sorry, but I read the Miqo'te as very cat-like, and to me, I plan on using that feline-ness as an major part of Mia's psychology and um physiology. I play a cat? I get to purr deep down in my chest. I may only do a meow in private situations, but I am a cat lover, so yep, will be using feline attributes both in character development and interactions. Pounce. Sleep curled in my tail at times, be all haughty and then all attack mode. Curious. All of it in some ways, without I hope making her seem like a cat-cartoon. Did that make sense? Mia

Haha, they tend to bring me things like fossils, rocks, minerals, family stories, pictures, a kitten once, and best of all, a three-foot tall animated, singing Frankenstein in honor of our reading/studying Mary Shelley one rainy October :study:
-
Same problem! I just can't seem to get around only have ONE character. But Miqo'te...yes. That is it for me. But yeah, I can't wait to see the animations and Lala with a big bow? Awesomeness. Let us know what you choose :cat: (I edited my original posting with a RL pic, to ask? Do you look at all like your character?) Mia
-
Hey KittyWizard, Loved your answer! And was much what I went with too--I mean come on a TAIL! I love the way the Miqo'te look. And will go check out the RL pic thread too. Mia

And here is another reason that has little to do with questions of vampires or um glands of any type that I plan to play a Miqo'te. I just rescued the kittens below. Some idiot threw away a momma and six TINY kittens, all with blue eyes like their Siamese momma this afternoon on a road near my house. I hate people sometimes. My best friend is trying to hold them on her lap for the picture. Sorry for the quality: iphone near dark = not great pic. Power to the Felines. Death to Sparkly Vampires of the world.

I IS a female! And I think we are not that rare in mmo's. I listened to a great ffxiv podcast today talking about rolling cross-gender. I liked what one of the female co-hosts said: that if you see a female in a game being all girly and asking for help, gear etc. = that is a guy. Not sure I agree. I think being a jerk is not gender specific. It happens both ways. I don't care if a guy rolls a girl or a transvestite or a three-sexed alien: as long as it is lore-appropriate for the game they are playing and they play with some honor and intelligence. As long as we get NO sparkly-skinned vampires.... :frustrated: Mia (a female in game and out and not real sure why anybody would care?)

Hey, Dran! And I will have you know my students bring me much more interesting things than apples :study:

See? I just knew this topic would give us insight into why some of us like our chosen races. I keep hearing that song about short people when I read the "lalafail" post I almost chose the Lalafell just because to be little and deadly can be intriguing. They don't see you coming, and if they do, they don't take you seriously, until you take them down. And yes, the exact look I think is missing for the Miqo'te was described above : feral. If they give us Roegadyn females? Nice. Just hope they do better than WoW did with female Orcs.... Big tough women can want some nice hair too, come on. And female trolls with those two big toes...geesh at least let me wear some kicking boots. And names in FFxiv? Interesting to see how players come up with their character names and bios too. Mia

Shhh....don't tell anybody, but I teach college-level literature and humanties :geek:

I have work, let me see, oh yes, right here: Find out where Mia's clans live. Yep. First order of business. And I guess I can grade a bit, sigh....
-
Kier, That sig of yours rocks--so much that I am breaking my rule and using an emoticon-thingie :approve: Mia

Thanks, Mason, appreciate it mucho. I wrote up a draft last night, and *coughs* I am at work today, but may pm it over to you later today. Trying to get the geography/social aspects, not to mention the personal, to work without ever having seen the world making me a bit nuts. Mia

Yeah, I saw in the cut scenes that the Hyur seem to have the most expressive faces too. Can't wait to see all the variations in game.

Just looking through avatars and forum postings, I am seeing a trend.... Many of us seem to be leaning toward the Miqo'te Moon-loving kitties. My gaming partner, Dranmarth, will be, we think, Roegadyn. I see a few other races, but lots of Miqo'te. So, I wanted to ask a question to the community and explore our reasons for the race we choose. A little something to do besides troll for lore and try to develop my character's story having never been in the Hydaelyn world, or any FF world. What is attracting us about the race we choose? Looks? Ability? Lore? Story? Why did you choose your race? I know the answers will be different if you are a big FF fan and know the world. That knowledge gives you insight us rank beginners won't have. So, um tell us why you choose your race! My short answer: For me, fantasy rpg has a lot to do with going outside my own experience. A reason that I would steer away from Hyur, too human. And that may be the very reason another player chooses them. I love Elves, but geesh I been a LOT of them, wanted something different. The Roegadyn are fierce, but not until we get female models, not for me. I don't play cross-gender, so I always play female (but that is so a personal thing! Play the gender of your choice, I say. But if you want to share, why do you choose to play male/female?) And I SO wish a game would give me a third choice: a real androgynous race! I dig wearing my rough boots with my long robes and mixing up the stereotypical gender clothes and attitudes. But I digress... I chose Miqo'te because I do cat rescue, and love the cats who keep me company. I love the other critters on my farm, but feline grace wins, and ok, the tail....having a tail, and ears....I also like their lithe athleticism and aloofness. And I am into dualities, so the Sun/Moon thing works for me. Enough said: others chime in. Want to hear from you! Mia

A.E.T.H.E.R. intrigues me, and my gaming partner, Dranmarth. He is not new to the Final Fantasy worlds; I am. Off to read lore and then try to write a character bio that does not make me cringe. Great work on the Linkshell. Mia
