I'm Nariko Star, I wanted to drop by Hydaelyn RPC to advertise an event I'm holding on the Sargatanas server which I think some members here might be interested in. For those of you who might have been around long enough might remember this post last year advertising the event- which evidently got locked over a pretty heated controversial topic TLDR; IRL SEX MATTERS. Some quick F.A.Q since these questions seemed to come up a decent amount in last years thread, and I'd like to debunk them now rather than later if at all possible- But by all means feel free to ask additional questions either here or in the OF thread and I'll do my best to give you an efficient answer. ★ Is Love Love Star Maid Cafe an RP Event? Not completely- Love Love Star Maid Cafe is open to all players. We had a healthy mix of both RP's and non-RPs last year. We have some RP elements tied into this event through our Maid Time, and our dances, and cafe services we provide. While our main staff will be in character for the whole event- I wouldn't come to this event thinking all attendee's will be 100% in character, because not everyone will. ★ What is this you speak of Gil for a Maid or Host? We do ask for a small sum of gil from our Masters & Mistresses who would like to participate. This gil goes straight back into the gil prize giveaway at the end of the event, so all of our Maids & Hosts do this as a non-profit service. We mainly have this in place so those serious about the event can have Maid Time, and a semi-gate for the average troll-goer. ★ WTF IS THIS ERP/CYBER SESSION? Nope. Nope. Nope. Love Love Star maids and hosts are strictly to follow FFXIV ToS. We take extreme action when it comes to ANY types of explicit or sexual conduct. Simply put- Our Maids & Hosts are completely fine with flirtatious and innocent displays of affections. But we do not condone or support any sort of explicit cybering or player harassment. We were lucky enough to only have to report 2 players last year. One of which left the premise and the other received a temp ban within the hour for wall-hacking/ use of 3rd party programs to move through walls. ★ Can I offer my RP experience and participate as a Love Love Star Maid or Host? So let me start out by saying thank you for all your comments / concerns / questions / inquiries. Let me go through them all now that I'm off of work. But let me first start off by saying since there have been multiple members asking is this an RP event or Non-RP event.. Would I call our-self a 100% in character role play event? No. Would I say Love Love Star Maid Cafe has some role play aspects to it? Yes (Please check quote below or link). Because of our Maids & Hosts acting a persona for the event, I originally came here to advertise the event in case some members might follow this site but reside on a non-RP server, OR would want to participate enough to make a new character to join in on the event. Nonetheless, I posted ahead of time so that our Masters & Mistresses would have time to plan. Originally I posted via the headlines, as I wasn't exactly sure where this would go on the site, but one of your moderators graciously pointed me in the right direction for posting this event in the correct forums and updating the calendar. 1st up: My fiancé (Kaiyoko) and myself (Nariko) poured 48,000,000 gil into buying a house together. I wanted to be able to share this with the FFXIV community. Growing up I always loved hosting parties and events in real life. I wanted a way to translate this into the game and I thought this would be the best fit way for the XIV community. While not all, but many XIV players are interested in Japanese culture, which maid café's are apart of- not just from anime so I thought it was fitting. Secondly, I work in the Japanese Movie Entertainment Industry doing 3D work for Japanese commercials / video games / anime. Many of my co-workers are native to Japan and were born and raised in Tokyo with English as a 2nd language. We always discuss Japanese culture and cafe trends in Akihabara regarding Maid Cafe's so I have some pretty good second hand knowledge on what goes on and what type of conduct should be. TLDR; Maid Cafe > Date Auction Masters & Mistresses is proper etiquette for the visitors of a Maid Cafe. I have also confirmed this with my Japanese co-workers who have been to multiple Maid Cafe's in Akihabara. 2nd: 桜蘭高校ホスト部会長はメイド様!. YUP. But on a more serious note, the organizers last name is 'Star' and we will be hosting it at our house. "Love Love" in front just made it sound cute and appealing as something you might actually see from a Maid Cafe. 3rd: As far as fairness goes, We've updated our guidelines for prizes located here. We will be streaming the event via our Twitch Channel, so if your really concerned about fairness you can always tune in there. Staff for the Love Love Star Maid Cafe Event will not be able to receive prize from the prize giveaway. We plan on posting all the characters names + numbers on a public Google spread sheet that is only editable by us but viewable by everyone to ensure fairness. As you've stated with the big money prize, we understand this is an issue. In the event the large money prize goes to a character that is not from this world and does not plan on using the character. The player could ask one of the other selected winners for a trade with the art commission prize. But honestly, there is not much beyond that we can do. If the receiving character of the prize is not interested in the money because they are from another world, we can just re-draw at that point if no one is willing to trade. ;( I'm sorry. *I'll make a note of this in the Official Thread, thank you. 4th: This is a community player event that has role play elements in it. And I brought it to ffxiv-roleplayers.com because I thought it would be a perfect way to bridge a gap between two communities in XIV which are sometimes miss-understood on both sides. As stated in one of my previous posts. We released the genders of our Maids & Mistresses specifically for players that are not role players and may not feel comfortable participating in flirtatious actions not knowing if they were interacting with the opposite or same sex. While most of the RP'ers here seem to not care about the player's sex, this is not the case for the player base as a whole. We have received numerous questions between Guildwork, Reddit, XIVPads, and the Official Forums inquiring if our Maids were actual females and Hosts were actual males. I see no reason to hide this information from those who ask which could lead into them feeling as if they were fooled or lied too. Of course, our Maids & Hosts have agreed and given consent that this information was needed to be shared. For example, we have three males who are playing female characters. Whether you believe it or not, I firmly believe this opens up a wider audience of participants for this event and we will carry the event out this way regardless. 5th: Love Love Star Maids & Hosts have been carefully selected with this in mind. We've specifically chosen our Maids & Hosts who have proven to hold their own against anything Eorzea has to throw at them. This includes but is not limited to: *Sexual Harassment *Overly obsessive Elezen fan boys *Ze Puff Puff *Ankle Bitters *Morbrol Tentacles *Twintania *Ravaging Trolls *Haters But thank you for your concerns. Just so you all know, we have updated our Main Thread containing our Rules & Guidelines for the event. Our Maids & Hosts will be using this as a strategic guideline to deal with harassment just the same as when we have developed strategies to deal with some of the Eorzea's most vile foes.

I'll repost my response to the Official thread- While we have not finalized our Rules & Guidelines as of yet-- when we do please refer to this post we've already reserved. We will be taking extreme actions when it comes to ANY type of explicit sexual conduct. We're completely fine with flirtatious and innocent displays of affections. But we do not condone or support any sort of explicit cybering or player harassment. We will be following FFXIVs ToS when it comes to harassment for not only our Maids & Hosts but also our Masters and Mistresses. Also, while we do charge for our one-on-one maid time & food service, 100% of the proceeds go into our prize giveaway. Of course as someone else stated it could always be a scam, I'll trust based off this thread and its activity on the Official Forums you can give me the benefit of the doubt that all money will 100% go to the prize giveaway. Anyone who uses our fee'd services will have their name taken given a number as well us us documenting it and at the end we'll use a random number generator to pull a number assigned to that name for all our prizes.

Okay, I think this sums up most of the discussion/question generated via this topic so I'll start with this before heading to work. As some have already stated, we reside on Sargatanas, which is not native to a mass community of RPs. Because we decided to open it up to the XIV community XIV community we decided to reveal the genders of our Maids & Mistresses so that for those who may not be veterans in role play or perhaps no role play background at all would not feel awkward knowing that they potentially could be RPing with a male and or female disguised as an opposite sex. Because of this we wanted to stay true to our Master's and Mistresses and decided to go ahead and give them the knowledge before hand. So while this is not a traditional thing done in RP, we wanted to make sure those who attended the event who may not have RP experience before had the choice of knowing if they so desired. *Of course our Maids & Hosts have no preference when it comes to which sex they are paired with when it comes to affection.
