Ludovich: Gil driven
-
Ah see I didn't know about Tylwyth Narah. I'll have to check them out! I also didn't realize they referenced Baert Trading Company in this game; that's interesting! I envisioned this being more of a behind the scenes shindig, but that's something I can work out while I level and get to know the community.

Hey all, My name's Paul (IGN Ludovich Baert), and I've just recently arrived on Balmung. I haven't really roleplayed on the server too much yet, as I'm focusing on leveling my new character, but I've chatted with some of you on the OOC LS. I'm making this post to gauge interest and see what your thoughts are on a trading company that is actually a front for organized crime. I looked through the linkshell directory and didn't see anything else like this but let me know is there is already a group out there that is fulfilling this role! A group like this might obviously behave antagonistically towards other players, and I think we an all agree that IC conflict between characters can be very interesting if both parties are interested and it's done right. A lot of hurt feelings and rage can happen if it's done wrong though. So I want to get your feedback! What would you like to see of an organization like this? Are you interested? Conflict between characters isn't for everyone, and if there's no interest I can accept that. What questions do you have? That's all I can think of to say right now. I want to take the time to actually take the time to roleplay on the server and get to know you lot (both in an IC and OOC sense) before I get this idea off of the ground. Besides, I have a lot of leveling to do! I just thought it would be interesting to start this discussion now and see what people think. See you in Eorzea! -Ludo

[*]I. Basic Info Character: Collem Brody Linkshells: N/A Primary RP linkshell: N/A II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium Views on RP combat and injuries: Sounds good. If it's anything serious we should talk about it first though. Views on IC romance: That can be really interesting, but it's not something I'm interested in for this character. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): See above. Views on lore: I don't know the lore too intimately, but what I do know I try to stick to. III. Character Info Hyur, age 24 Collem Brody was raised in Ul'dah. His mother was a servant to one of Ul'dah's rich. His father was a gladiator at the coliseum, but ditched the family when Collem was a teenager. His mother passed soon after that. Collem has one sister, similar in age, but a sickly lass. To keep him and his sister alive, Collem resorted to petty crime. He got the attention of a criminal organization in Ul'dah and worked with them for a time. Various shady dealings have put him at odds with his sister. Their relationship is strained, but he still cares for her. While he still has ties to the criminal world of Ul'dah, Collem has moved on to mercenary work. His experiences have left his moral compass askew. For him, the ends justify the means. He'll do most anything, no matter how vile, if the profit is sufficient. Sure, he'll have his scruples, but he'll put them aside. IV. 100 Questions to Ask About Your Role-Playing Character
Glazer replied to Vash's topic in Character Workshop
Part 1: The Basics 1.What is your full name? Collem Brody 2.Where and when were you born? Limsa Lominsa 3.Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.) My mother was named Aeris.. She died giving birth to me. Never really figured out what she was like, what she did. My father, Sepher, worked at a warehouse. My mother's death... changed the man, I suppose. He turned to the drink. He became a very broken, cruel man. 4.Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like? No. 5.Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people. The adventuring lifestyle pays well enough these days. I make camp or stay in various inns across Hydaelyn. Ul'Dah is my port of call these days. 6.What is your occupation? I'm an adventuring mercenary. I'll do any job if the pay is good. 7.Write a full physical description of yourself. You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks. I am as I appear. People tell me I'm handsome. I believe them. 8.To which social class do you belong? I do well enough. I'm neither especially rich or poor. 9.Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses? I'm a little tougher than the average person. Other than that, nothing special. 10. Are you right- or left-handed? Right. 11. What does your voice sound like? You could say I ran with some interesting crowds in Limsa Lominsa. I try to present myself as an articulate person, but the slang of the streets it something I'm comfortable with. Sometimes that slang speak slips, see? That's how I talk. My voice.. is nothing special, I guess. 12. What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently? I have no special phrases. 13. What do you have in your pockets? My armor doesn't have pockets. 14. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics? Not especially. Part 2: Growing Up 15. How would you describe your childhood in general? It wasn't an especially happy one. 16. What is your earliest memory? That's a story I don't feel like sharing right now. 17. How much schooling have you had? I skipped classes a lot. My formal education, I suppose, is lacking. 18. Did you enjoy school? No. Hence the skipping. 19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities? I learned a lot on the streets. My strength and penchant for stabbing things was refined in Ul'Dah, when I signed up with the gladiators there. 20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them. I suppose I looked up to the leader of the gang I ran with in Limsa Lominsa, Jegs. I was young though, and foolish. Jegs was an exceptionally cruel man. Not to his men, I thought. But he was a raper, a pillager for the sake of it. After... In time I grew tired of his way of doing things and struck out for Ul'Dah. 21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family? I touched upon this earlier. Not well. 22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? Never saw myself with much of a future. I supposed I wished for affection, protection. A home? Like I said, I was foolish. The young ones always are. 23. As a child, what were your favorite activities? Roving the streets of Limsa Lominsa, playing at sword and the like. 24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display? I was... an angry child. 25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like? No. My "friends" were the gang I ran with. 26. When and with whom was your first kiss? 17. The girl's name was Esther... 27. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity? No. I'm not comfortable sharing further... 28. If you are a supernatural being (i.e. mage, werewolf, vampire), tell the story of how you became what you are or first learned of your own abilities. If you are just a normal human, describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today. Part 3: Past Influences 29. What do you consider the most important event of your life so far? 30. Who has had the most influence on you? 31. What do you consider your greatest achievement? 32. What is your greatest regret? 33. What is the most evil thing you have ever done? 34. Do you have a criminal record of any kind? Yes. A committed a lot of petty crimes in my childhood. Admittedly more serious offenses occurred in my adulthood. 35. When was the time you were the most frightened? As a child 36. What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you? Hah, once in class, when I was very young, a fellow pulled down my pants. The shame and embarrassment I felt then was palpable. Since then I've grown thicker skin. Not much embarrasses me these days. 37. If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why? I would have split with Jegger and his lot sooner. My life would be a lot different then. My love would still be with us. 38. What is your best memory? Gods, I feel as a fool school girl when I admit that trip to Ul'Dah with Esther. I saved for months. We took a boat to Vesper Bay than traveled through Horizon to Ul'Dah. We saw the sights, did all of the things tourists do. Perhaps those were the best days of my life. 39. What is your worst memory? My worst memory is the reason I departed Limsa Lominsa for good. I don't care to recount it. Part 4: Beliefs And Opinions 40. Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic? I'm a realistic person. I don't expect things to work out. That's on me. 41. What is your greatest fear? 42. What are your religious views? 43. What are your political views? 44. What are your views on sex? It can be fun, provided both parties are consenting. 45. Are you able to kill? Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable? That I am. The circumstances are acceptable if the gil is acceptable. 46. In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do? 47. Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love? 48. What do you believe makes a successful life? 49. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)? 50. Do you have any biases or prejudices? 51. Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances? Why do you refuse to do it? 52. Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)? Part 5: Relationships With Others 53. In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)? Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how? It costs nothing to be courteous, polite when dealing with others. The rewards are great. I like learning more about people. 54. Who is the most important person in your life, and why? Why, me, I suppose. Gods, that's self-centered, I realize. I suppose I'm a lone wolf right now, hm? 55. Who is the person you respect the most, and why? I've come to respect myself. 56. Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? Describe these people. No. 57. Do you have a spouse or significant other? If so, describe this person. No. 58. Have you ever been in love? If so, describe what happened. I have. It didn't end well. 59. If so, describe them. If not, do you want to? Why or why not? I have no desire to start my own family currently. 62. Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help? I'm currently searching for a free company. Instant comrades! Who knows, in time I may actually grow to like them! 63. Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why? I've come to learn to rely on myself to do the protecting. 64. If you died or went missing, who would miss you? Probably.. no one. 65. Who is the person you despise the most, and why? Jegger. My reasons are my own. 66. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict? Most matters are trivial enough where I simply avoid conflict. For something more important to me, however, I will put up a fight. 67. Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations? I suppose, although I have no problem taking a back seat. 68. Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not? Frankly I find large group encounters a bit draining. I prefer time with people in small groups, or one-on-one. 69. Do you care what others think of you? Not especially, no. Although I suppose in my line of work people have to think I'm dependable and tough enough for any given job. Part 6: Likes And Dislikes 70. What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes? 71. What is your most treasured possession? 72. What is your favorite color? 73. What is your favorite food? 74. What, if anything, do you like to read? 75. What is your idea of good entertainment (consider music, movies, art, etc.)? 76. Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs? If so, why? Do you want to quit? I enjoy drinking in moderation. I've acquired a taste for ale. I avoid the rest. 77. How do you spend a typical Saturday night? At an inn with a drink in my hand. I enjoy regaling people with the stories of my adventures from time to time. I especially enjoy hearing theirs. Say what you will of people, they are, at least, interesting. 78. What makes you laugh? That... is a good question. A good story can bring a smile to my face, I have some appreciation for comedy. 79. What, if anything, shocks or offends you? You might be surprised by what I'm okay with. 80. What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself? Go for a stroll. We live in a world that is a great deal more beautiful than the people who inhabit it, and nothing clears my head like a walk. Suppose it's a mite dangerous, traveling by oneself at night, but I can take care of myself. 81. How do you deal with stress? I can keep a level head. If stressful circumstances arise I do my best to deal with the situation. 82. Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan? I consider myself a thoughtful person. I can think on my feet though. 83. What are your pet peeves? Part 7: Self Images And Etc. 84. Describe the routine of a normal day for you. How do you feel when this routine is disrupted? 85. What is your greatest strength as a person? 86. What is your greatest weakness? 87. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? 88. Are you generally introverted or extroverted? 89. Are you generally organized or messy? 90. Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at. I'm good at being tough, getting jobs done, and killing if need be. Not the skills to be most proud of maybe, but there it is. I'm bad at... 91. Do you like yourself? 92. What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that RPG characters do)? Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public? (If so, detail both sets of reasons…) 93. What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime? 94. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 95. If you could choose, how would you want to die? Hah, I don't know. With a sword in my hand? Gods, what a cliche. 96. If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left. First, I would hand over my excess gil to the conjurer's guild in Gridania to assist them with their ecological efforts. Second, I would hunt down and kill what members of the crew I ran with in Limsa Lominsa still remain. Third, I would watch the sun set, in some peaceful local. 97. What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death? 98. What three words best describe your personality? 99. What three words would others probably use to describe you? 100. If you could, what advice would you, the player, give to your character? (You might even want to speak as if he or she were sitting right here in front of you, and use proper tone so he or she might heed your advice…) -
Character: Collem Brody Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): light/medium Views on RP combat and injuries: Not adverse to the idea. No at all serious wounds/killing until we’ve discuss it, yeah? Views on IC romance: Not really interested. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Collem can make friends. Or enemies. If you’re considering outsourcing a character for your RP needs, consider Collem! He’s a mercenary who is willing to do almost anything if the price is right. Views on lore: Nothing ridiculous, but I don’t pay too close attention to the lore. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I pretty much exclusively use the various chat functions to communicate. Country: USA Timezone: GMT -6:00 Contact info: Just get at me in-game.

Name's Paul (Collem Brody in-game), stumbled upon your community by doing a Google search, and I'm excited to become a part of it! I haven't played an MMO in ages, but since this game came out for the PS3 I've been having a lot of fun with it! I've RPed in other games before (most notable LotRO, where I started my own guild). More recently I've participated in forum roleplays and the like. I've got an idea for my character, Collem Brody, sort of a villainous mercenary type. I'm working on fleshing him out so he's not just some cliche of villainy. I dig being a tank (gladiator, I have a conjurer/white mage over on Malboro), so I'm excited to explore content as well as roleplay (I would consider myself a light/medium roleplayer). On a personal note, I go to college, work, do stand up, and try to keep up with friends and the like (although I'm a bit of a shut-in), so I keep plenty busy. Still, I look forward to seeing y'all in game and getting to know people in this community. Yeehaw!

Ahoy! I tried getting a hold of a bunch of you in-game but no one was around at the time. Anyroad, I've just recently started investing some time into my character on Gilgamesh, and am very interested in joining the RP community! Color me interested in joining the OOC linkshell. My character's name is Collem Brody.

Yeah, I was just browsing the linkshells last night and I noticed that. I'll certainly look into them!

Hey folks! I realize I'm new around these parts, but I had an idea for a roleplay for my character that I was looking to share with you! According to the lore, a completed map of Eorzea came about only 70 years ago. It stands to reason that if a completed map of the entire land took so long to put together (due to war and whatever else), the land would still be lacking an encyclopedia of knowledge concerning the whole of Eorzea. In the pursuit of knowledge, my character (Ian Starling, Besaid) would travel the land, doing research and putting together this encyclopedia. Of course, being a fragile and clumsy researcher (and only one man, no less), he would need plenty of help (incorporating other players in various roleplaying events). His research could also be posted online (where exactly, I haven't thought too hard on) to provide other players with a practical (and hopefully amusing) source of information about the game. Of course, I've only just started and my knowledge of this game is pretty lacking, so if there is anything I've failed to take into account, let me know. In fact, let me know what you think anyway. I would appreciate some input!

Hello there! I've just recently purchased Final Fantasy XIV, and as an avid roleplayer, I decided to jump right into the community here. I've played many online roleplaying games, but I've spent the most time playing Lord of the Rings Online and Guild Wars. I started semi-successful roleplaying guilds in both of those games as well. If anybody cares to get in touch with me in-game, my character is Ian Starling, an inept conjurer forever on a quest for knowledge. I look forward to meeting all of you, in-game or via this message board!
