  1. I. Basic Info Characters: Emvi'zi Lavint Primary character: Emvi'zi Lavint Linkshells: Family, Excellent Roleplay Primary RP linkshell: Excellent Roleplay II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium to Heavy roleplay. Always open to RP, though when I am running around like a lunatic I am most likely OOC. Views on RP combat and injuries: Short of limb loss, I am perfectly fine with injuries. With RP combat I am fine with rolling or with freeform, I'm generally unfussed so long as it's all done in the interest of being interesting and fun roleplay. Views on IC romance: Again, I am generally unfussed as long as it's what people want to do. Some characters are, however, more open to romance than others of course. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): It can add a lot of depth, unless family are being kept off to the side for purposes of character development and story, like my main's is, I generally feel there's a lot to be said for people playing siblings or similar. Lots of potential for fun. Views on lore: Having truely started to get into FFXIV I can say that any previous misgivings I've had about lore have melted away now I understand what's actually going on. It's very interesting and well crafted, and clearly developing under a caring hand. Unlike some other games... World of Warcraft. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): When in roleplay, say and emote are purely IC functions for me. If I have to OOC I'll either use party chat or whisper the person. Whilst I won't decry people for it, I tend to avoid using brackets. III. 2. Personally I've always been a big advocate of having a backstory for a character, though how big or influential a backstory has varied. For settings I'm more familiar with, I'm happy to give a bare minimum and then let it evolve from there, but in settings I'm just getting into, like FFXIV, I tend to try and make a backstory a bit more in depth using lore I read and the likes if only so I can get a proper feel for the universe, and a more solid grounding from which to RP from. To each his or her own, though! My own way may be somewhat bizarre. Why make a background for a character in a universe you don't have a lot of experience with bigger than one you do have experience with? But I find it's working for me, at least crafting this guys story. ^^ EDIT: Giving it some more thought, a backstory should, in my opinion, always have some scope for alteration and by no means bind a character too much to it. People change their minds and circumstances change, etcetera. Sticking to the backstory of your character like some kind of religion is a surefire way to meet trouble somewhere down the line. It's a backstory, after all! Not the story!
  3. Thanks for the welcomes, and yeah, going to take a looksie at all the EU related stuff.
  4. Hey all! Just started playing FF14 again after who-knows-how long and really enjoying it so far! Been lurking around RP spots when not levelling a little bit to try and get a feel for it, and it all seems pretty cool from what I've seen! Done a lot of RP on other games and still RP in GW2, have since abandoned ship on WoW, thought it might be a good idea to register here rather than prevaricate on the issue. I'm on Balmung because a few of my other friends are already on here, but I don't think they RP. Character is a Miqo'te Keeper called Emvi'zi Lavint. Someone who has since fled from family/clan life in the Shroud and is not-really-settling anywhere at the moment. And that's about as far as I've got with his character! Looking forward to whatever RP rolls along, and playing the game more, of course! Thanks for reading!
