  1. So glad I'm starting fresh so I can be all lore-correct with my naming. Besides that just... I mean... the amount of detail... I love how they do the phoneme placement breakdown for Lalafell. I love the ABB AB style for female Lalafell... so adorable! Now I'm even more torn over making a Male Miqote or Male Lalafell. Maybe I'll just have to have both and foot the extra character bill.
  2. Having read your wiki post and your character profile on the forum I'd say that I personally would be down for joining that family. I tend to RP characters who take on a supporting or even subservient role, so I'm perfectly fine with the idea of someone else dictating the lore of the family and the direction of the RP. My RP views are pretty much the same as yours (though I'm into yuri/shoujo-ai and not the gender opposite, not that I mind it I just don't personally RP it) and hey we're even both making male Miqote. Yeah, I could see it happening and I'd definitely be interested.

    Hi Hi Hello

Alas, without the raw versions of the original books I can't even take excerpts. Maybe someday when I go back to Japan I'll pick them up from a bookstore, but they're impossible for me to get my hands on right now. ... sadly there's only a single novel about 14, whereas 11 had a whole collection of novels written about it.
  4. Well as far as the race and stuff... I'd leave that up to whoever was actually running the family. I'm bad at leading stuff so even though I brought up the idea I really wouldn't execute it myself. If someone else saw it and thought 'hey yeah I'd like to run a family RP like that' then I'd defer to them. ... though Miqote would be nice, now that males are available. I was planning on making a male Miqote as my main.
  5. I think it's something that would be great for alts, actually. Mainly because the character creation would need to be matched up. It'd be cool if everyone that was part of the family bloodline (so not the servants) would have the same hair/eye color combination so they actually look like they're all from the same family (though they could have different hair styles so they don't all look like clones, of course).
  6. I don't know how original of an idea this is, but it's something I'm interested in. I like the feeling of knowing where I belong, ICly and all. I know it's pretty common to have a character who either has no ties to anyone or only has ties to NPCs in their backstory, but I like participating in groups who all share ties. This is why the concept of a big Family-style RP group is interesting to me. Now I'm not talking about a little mom-dad-sister-brother family, I mean something more like the big noble families from way back when. Think Downtown Abbey only with even more people. I love the whole dynamic that exists between the noble upper-class main family, the slightly less-upper side families and the servants who, while lower class, are still a huge part of every family members' life. But are other people interested in this kind of grouping? I can imagine it would be easy to find anyone to play the head of the family and the young and handsome heir apparent, but would people be willing, even ICly, to act the part of a servant who, while trusted and dear to the heart of the Master, must still stick to the decorum of their rank? Personally I think organizing a big family (extensions, servants and all) would be a blast. And this is a concept that has been entertaining to people for ages. Just look at the popularity of Downtown Abbey, and even shows like Naruto and Bleach tend to throw in a little 'big noble house' drama. It's something anyone can get into! And it really can fit well into any lore no matter what. Plus it gives everyone in the group an instant back story and guaranteed RP partners instead of the awkwardness of trying to herd together a bunch of mysterious loners, each brooding over their own unknown pasts. Right? Right? Does it sound interesting? Suggestions? Want to do it? Let's do it? Edit: Come to think of it, the inclusion of buyable Grand Company houses makes this an even more usable idea. I mean, c'mon. Now you even have the estate.

    Hi Hi Hello

I translate mostly for fun. I have been paid for my translations but only because the person was really interested in seeing the thing translated, not because it was official. I do translate directly from the Japanese kana into English, though. One of these days I should sit down and translate the FF11/FF14 novels from Japanese. I imagine they'd be a huge aid to the RP community... seeing how Japanese authors RP FF11/14.

    Hi Hi Hello

Ataru here. Avid translator of things Japanese (I go by ClaymoreSmiley when I translate). I've been an FF fan since my brother first rented Final Fantasy '2' for the SNES back when it first came out over here. I picked up 11 at least 3 times, but I just never really met anyone on there that made me want to keep playing it and without friends to party with I just didn't find that game fun enough to keep me interested. I signed up here way back before 14 1.0 came out, but alas my computer was nowhere near good enough to handle that game and the reviews kept me off of it even after I had upgraded. But now with 2.0 on the horizon and with a computer that can give me a decent benchmark score (or a PS3 if push comes to shove) I am ready to throw my chips on this pile one more time. I've been an RPer for 12 years. I started on MU*s, migrated to forum RPs and even dabbled in some e-mail RPs. I've never been in a serious RP environment on an MMORPG and that depresses me. The two 'RP guilds' I ever joined gave me the following experiences: 1. A guild on Perfect World that told me not to level or change my equipment since it would break character and then said that there was no need to meet any of them in the game world as they mostly just RPed over Guild Chat... 2. A guild on Tera whose concept of RPing was: 'We're enemies with this other guild and we kill them on sight' ... so. Yeah. Not too thrilled. I'm hoping that, since the FFOnlines tend to be a little more lore-centric, I can find a Guild Linkshell Free Company? Or whatever they're called? Anyway one of those that is really serious about interesting, character-driven RP that is more than just relationship drama in a guild chat. ... and one that doesn't prevent me from also enjoying the game part of the game at the same time. I'll probably be pre-ordering 14 2.0, and I look forward to seeing everyone there on day one. I'll be a total noob at first, as I didn't get in on 1.0 at all, but I'm hoping to have a fun time growing alongside everyone. Let's be friends!
