  1. Nothing wrong with longer posts, you seem to really have given it a lot of thought. I love Monk and Pugilist due to my love for fighting games, While my character is a Thaumaturge now, I feel like making a change in career with her. The information on fighting styles for Melee or even armed combat is scarce and it's expected as not everything is shed light upon. The way the MNK trainer explained it, there's Sects of MNKs that lived for battle and the exchange of chakra, or aether, between one another; then the Sect of Darkness fought for power and wiped out other sects to gain power. From this information alone one could assume that a different sect maybe had a different fighting style or different arts. This is good as it sort of initiates a foundation for different ways characters gained their fighting styles, Citing the arts of a Sect of Monk that fought with said style. As for my style, I love grappling fighting styles. Stuff like Judo, Greco-Roman wrestling and the militaristic styles used to disarm and immobilize threats. (Look at CQC from the Metal Gear series) When my character makes that change in path, I want her to have that sort of style to her. Of course, this is all still in the planning stage.
  2. Pugilists, Monks! o/ Quick Question, Do you use a fighting style different from the one presented in the game when engaging in RP combat? (As in the very Kung Fu-centric style.) If so, what does your character Use and how do you explain your character's knowledge of it?
  3. We all have a standard by which we RP with, as others have said, We gravitate towards people that generally have similar taste. For me for example, I'm quite flexible in what I like, I do think if one is on an MMO that the theme is the game itself, not Naruto, Bleach, etc. I will ERP. -Shrugs- I don't care about what character someone wishes to portray as long as they can do it efficiently. If someone is an asshole character, they should convey it more than just bullying everyone. Like, an asshole can be snarky, clever, and sarcastic in the way they act as long as it's done in proper context, otherwise they come off as mischievous and a boring roleplayer because 99.9% of the time, you'll know how interactions with that character will go.
  4. Well, here's how I want to do a few things, I understand that getting the materials and stuff will be hard, but I would be willing to do it if I had members committed or interested to the concept. -I'm not wanting to emulate Harvest Moon in FC form, but rather, capture the concept of a social RP that's within Harvest Moon. -When it comes to the Free Company house, I wouldn't want it being the "Town" per say, Instead, that would be the Court Square sort of thing with the House serving as the Courthouse in some way. I'll leave it to Eorzea to make the town. -When it comes to characters, I would want multiple roles. Like an Armorer and their one or two assistants or a Alchemist and their apprentice or even two Weavers constantly bickering about who has the better clothing and such. I wouldn't want them switching class in character though. -Even though Drama and Romance are another big thing in Harvest Moon, I understand that it's the touchier subject in Roleplaying and a tad frightful to work that stuff in. Those are some of the things I have in mind for it. As I've said, it's more of the idea of a Social RP that Harvest moon has within it's environment and story, a quaint little town of Crafters and Gatherers that aid their Adventurous brethren as they come and go, whilst bringing stories and the latest gossip and news to the people. <3 Where I need help is brainstorming ideas in making this work, I'm totally in love with this idea and I would really appreciate any pointers, tips, advice, and things to be wary of when the day finally comes I attempt this.
  5. Yeah, however, I jusy don't know how one can give the feeling of a town to a Free Company and have it work in RP.
  6. So, I'm sure a good number of you know about Harvest Moon and it's oddly addicting gameplay, not once does one wield a sword nor casts a spell, the extent of more fantastical subjects is the presence of Harvest Sprites and the Harvest Goddess. I want to build a Social RP around the concept of a Harvest Moon town but unsure as to how one would go about it, I do want people in Craft to shine a bit more as Adventurers would seem to be out and about too much to really carrry presence in the town. Can anyone give me a helping hand.
