  1. Wow, I looked at your page.. it's gorgeous. I love how you have all the information laid out too. That must've been a lot of hard work! I'm definitely envious of your wiki skills now. If you made a template for to others to use that was even half that beautiful, I'd still use it. :surprise: As Valence mentions above, I think just something that made the basic page layout not all wonky and take up the whole screen would be a good starting point. Some of the stat tables would be nifty too. Just something basic to start from would be great!
  2. You've put a lot of thought into it and I like the cultural significance of each of the different boops! I feel like it would take a lot of practice to get right though... I've booped people IRL and it seems more often than not we end up with sore noggins!
  3. I think that's probably one of the harder parts of RP... trying to "forget" what you take for granted every day IRL ...
  4. I've actually been thinking about this myself for the backstory of my own character that I'm working on. She would have grown up away from the major cities, so I considered that maybe literacy isn't that useful a skill as opposed to hunting or farming. I still haven't delved deep enough into the FF14 lore though to see if there's a real-world pseudo-medieval analogy there or if it's just assumed all adventurers are literate because, y'know, adventurers are special and all. I think having an illiterate character could create some interesting RP opportunities. In character, it's not likely to come up enough to be considered an annoying trait, and it could create some interesting moments for your character to be potentially embarrassed if everyone else around her is, or maybe even create some contention if she's stubborn and just refuses to learn because she doesn't see the value in it. Admittedly, most of my experience with the subject has been from D&D games where it was usually the "dumb barbarian" stereotype which is mostly played up for comedic value, acting like books are some sort of poison/voodoo. I've gotten to find that annoying just because of how overdone it is.
  5. This looks really cute! I love this time of year :3 I've never done any holiday events in FF14... do they add activities or quests at all or is it mostly cosmetic stuff? If so, is it possible for lowbies to participate? Also, do the holiday events fit into the lore in some way? Or is it more like other games where they're just like, "Here's our world's version of Christmas, have fun."
  6. Another new person! So glad I'm not the only one late to the party! Welcome!
  7. Hello other new person!
  8. Thanks for the tips! I'll probably spend some time figuring things out on another server and just pay for the transfer when I'm ready.
  9. Hi! I'm not new to FF14 (played around 2.0 launch for a few months, but not since then), so I was interested in coming back to give the game another go. I think the first time I got caught up in the race to 50 and didn't really take the time to enjoy the game, so I was hoping to take it a bit slower and also do some RP and get more immersed in the world. The only question is... where? It seems Balmung and Gilgamesh are perma-full these days. Are there other good shards for RP? Should I pay for the xfer? Some more stuff about me... MMORPG background: I've played most of the big ones. I'm not what I'd call 'hardcore," though. I don't like raids or grinding. RP experience: Mostly from table top RPGs like D&D, kinda hit or miss. I've done a lot of creative writing too. Character ideas/info: Still working on this. How did you learn about the coalition? I found a link in a Reddit post after doing some searches for FF14 RP. What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy? I'll probably start out light and ease my way into it as I get comfortable. We'll see where it goes from there... Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc) So I guess my one secret I'm going to share right now is part of the reason I'm doing this. I have really, really bad social anxiety IRL. I'm trying to get more involved with a community as a form of exposure therapy. I'm hoping that being able to project a character while I'm socializing will make it a little easier. Anyways, enough heavy stuff... nice to meet everyone! :chocobo:
