Okay, it's actually relieving to hear that I can RP her having always been a bard. That was something I was hoping I could do, but didn't know how much game mechanics would factor into it. I guess my only real concern now is that I've never played a bard in this game, so I don't really know how to roleplay one. I'm sure that is something that I could look up online, as far as their abilities and so forth, I just don't want to get anyone mad. Part of why I chose bard as well is that anyone can gather lore or sing songs. I've hard that people can get really upset if you decide to be a white mage or other job where it's considered very rare and a huge honor, so I wanted to avoid a job like that. Another thing with her backstory I was unsure of was that I have her as a Raen Au Ra. However, the Garleans took the town she was in when she was young. She barely escaped with her life and was picked up by a group of Xaela Au Ra women who were basically assassins and raised her in assassination, subterfuge, etc. I wasn't sure if Raen and Xaela actually get along or not, enough that a group of Xaela would take in a young Raen girl. I know they live different lives, but I don't know if that extends into bad blood between them. I also hate using "lived in Random Village that was destroyed by baddies", but I want her to be in her early 20s, so timeline-wise, I'm not aware of any actual towns I could say she's from that were ransacked by the Garleans.

I had been considering RPing in FFXIV for a bit, but was rather nervous about it. When I finally got around to looking up things like lore and which realms were heavy in RPers, I came across this site and got interested. I used to be heavy into forum RP, but I'm new to the concept of doing it in an MMO setting. Any advice to help a forum RPer transition to MMO RP would be greatly appreciated. On the subject of characters, I've been toying around with one for a bit, but I'm not too sure how to pull it off. My major issue is I want to eventually make her a Bard, but I'm not sure how easy it is to segue from Archer to Bard IC. I've never actually made a Bard, so I don't know how the class quests go for Archer, nor the job quests for Bard. There's actually a lot more points I'm unsure of, but I don't want to fill my welcome post with it. Is there a dedicated place on the forum where I could post a rough profile or description of what I'd been considering and have people help me with what is and isn't lore friendly?
