The calming embrace of a mother sweeter than strudel. The hearty laugh a father tougher than Gridanian timber. The varied characters within a numerous collection of siblings. Each aspect held a strong presence throughout Jaune's childhood. Everlasting impressions were made upon his heart, and much of who he has become he owes to the family he will always love. Among sound laden streets, merciless markets, and the chaos of the Coliseum, peace was a scarce commodity to the young child. Aurelia, his mother, offered all the comfort which she could. Freshly cooked meals and softly spoken stories, such small acts seemed to calm the velocity of the world around young Jaune. Aurelia was his guardian angel, always beaming and laughing, and finding some way to brighten his day. Every day it would seem that she had created a new sort of style for her stunning gold locks, and each time - adorably enough - Jaune would plead for his mother to do the same with his own hair. Of course, being the loving mother she was, she would oblige with a hint of zeal. The sincere care within her soul had most clearly been carried forward into Jaune's own. Even as a child, charity for his family was oft on his mind thanks to his mother's influence. Hand-picked gifts, thoughtful favors, and simply doing his best to appease the entirety of the Campion family. These sort of small, childish acts one day sprouted into the giving tree that he has become. My the matron bless his mother's kind heart.

Often times when one thinks of family, the feeling of comfort or familiarity accompanies the thought. As a member of the Campion lineage of Gladiators, Jaune had only more on his mind when brought to think of family. Love. Struggle. Shame. The future. These four ideas capture the life he led before Gridania, albeit in a vague and unspecified manner. As kind as he has been to the people of Gridania, he deserves more than such a shallow summary. Allow me to stretch those three words into a woven tale of what lies within a man so honest and giving, chapter by chapter, page by page. {open to OOC response, closed to IC response. Storytelling takes place prior to Jaune settling into the role of Conjurer and Crafter. Each chapter will encompass a specific portion of Jaune's life, starting with love and ending with the future. }

Directionless. lost. [Jaune/W'kano Private]
piBwater replied to piBwater's topic in Town Square (IC)
Jaune had not understood the other from such a distance, yet he responded to the voice. Not with the returning of a shout - but with the widening of his eyes. The approaching figure had gripped his heart once he saw it approaching. Death, he was sure, had come for him. Perhaps those metal beasts of people were commonplace bandits. For all he knew, that was the case in these lands. Jaune's mind raced to find an appropriate plan. He could not fight, nor could he be bothered to run any longer. So - lay there and accept the death no doubt marching it's way to his soul...that was his only option. Ba-dum. Ba-dum. Ba-dum... The man's eyes closed whilst he listened to each drum of his chest, appreciating the sound for one final time. Muscles tightened with fright as the stranger approach, fingers grasped anxiously at the grass beneath him. Weakling. Coward. Traitor. By the time the stranger had approached close enough to outright kill him where he sat, he had more than accepted death. Thus, when they - no - she reached out not with blade, but with hand, he had nearly swallowed his tongue. Her voice, her presence, the simple reminder that - no, he was not stranded alone - completely blew his fear out of the water. Instead, fear was replaced with a mighty embarrassment. He could only imagine the thoughts she had hidden about a man like himself, crying like a child lost in the market and wanting for his mother. With a new-found urgency Jaune wiped his wet cheeks and took the hand offered to him. " W'kano? I'm..uh, Jaune. " He withheld the surname, for fear that it's value might have miraculously maintained itself so far from home. Within the stillness of the aging night, he could hear his heart beat picking up the pace once more. Was it fear? No, not any longer. It was simply the mystery of...human interaction in such a strange scenario. An unknown woman approaching clad in armor, claiming to be searching for a lost man. Was he the one in question? Shifting on his feet with a bit of uncertainty at the thought, he gave a quick look around the vicinity. "I'm...I might be the man you're looking for..." His voice was quiet in this moment, not wanting to hear himself admit the aforementioned fact. "I'm...lost." The truth and depth to those words were more than she might have considered at the time. But, guide him she would. Again, with more truth and depth than she may have considered. -
{Thread takes place a short time before Jaune arrives in Gridania a green adventurer. } Something had smeared the man's perception of time into an incomprehensible mess. Jaune's mind and spirit were guilty of that charge, having been sunken and swallowed since leaving his 'home' in Ul'dah. Weeks were days, and the month that had passed hardly seemed to exist at all. With eyes to the earth, Jaune had not spotted the sun rise or set, nor had he witnessed the beautiful stars scattered gracefully throughout the unpolluted night skies. A safe travel had dulled his very self, hardly a noticeable bump on his journey to - somewhere . Somewhere away from the bloodsands. Alas, an journey planned infinite would doubtlessly have it's troubles. Trouble indeed came, on a moonless night on a long and winding road to Gridania. For the past few days, he had unintentionally melded into a group of merchants travelling to the city-state. At one point, he could hear the chattering of his temporary companions through the clutter in his mind. Then, the next moment it seemed they had vanished. Jaune, having been lost in thoughts all alone, had not noticed the direction they had gone. Nor had he realized that his feet were carrying him forward through a pathless woodland. For the first time in weeks, he was truly awake. Jasper eyes once cloudy now shone with a frightened alertness as they opened wide to asses the mess he had wandered into. He had no idea where he was, how far from home he had traveled. When had the sands disappeared? Where did the lush forest begin? There were no giant shelled creatures, no familiar howl of the desert wind. Instead, annoying insects flew around him, and blades of grass tickled the ankles sand once itched. It would have been peaceful, had Jaune not been utterly lost. It would have been peaceful, had Jaune not felt like he had walked into his coffin. Panic-stricken, Jaune darted through the woods with head swiveling back and forth in search of something familiar. Alas, it was all for naught. Mysterious creatures and naked trees of spooky design were all that greeted him. He wandered and wandered until his will could no long proceed with the pointless effort. When he could carry forward no longer, he threw his back to the nearest tree and slid down the bark to the ground. There, he sat in defeat. Palms covered his eyes as he began to cry. A few minutes of this led to sobs. Sobs which under normal circumstances would have been stifled. However, to the poor lost boy, he assumed that there would be no way another person would have a chance to hear the pathetic noises. As he spoke his final prayers in the names of his beloved family, recounting his memories with them, he failed to notice that in the distance a knight had been en route to his rescue...

Hey everyone! The name's Mike, and I've stumbled across this fairly interesting community! I've just recently begun playing Final Fantasy XIV (two days ago as of this post's creation) , and I'm really enjoying it in an OOC manner. Though...as one with quite a bit of RP'ing history (and an adoration for writing) I thought something like this would only go to improve my stay in the FFXIV realm! So, without any more waste of haste, I'll introduce myself using the handy templates offered by the helpful people of these forums! MMORPG Background: I've only played one mmorpg heavily. That, my friends, was Mabinogi. Loved that game while I played it, it's very dear to me. Every moment that I could, I would play that game. Anyways - aside from that game, I've played Maplestory and a little bit of others fitting into different types like Destiny. I've only ever played with small groups, so involving myself with this large conglomerate of peeps'll be pretty nifty! --RP experience My RP experience is much heavier in other formats, however. I hold certain blogs on certain platforms which are fairly well-off, and have enjoyed character creation and expression for quite a bit of years. I understand the ettiquite, the general flow, and more or less what to expect. Patience, undestanding, and a keen interest for character interaction have taken point during my stints within several rp communities. As do many roleplayers, I do care about my character, and wish to only deliver a portrayal fair to my own brain/heart-child. --Character ideas/info So! Character ideas and yadayada. Honestly? So far I only have about two ideas simmering at the moment. I'm much more 'familiar' with one than the other. Here's why. The idea I'm more 'familiar' with, would be my Jaune Arc (RWBY) inspired character. He is hardly a character fit to be called an 'oc', but rather a certain build of characteristics headcanon'd from the series, and brought over to FF XIV format. I've rp'd this character extensively, for quite a few years as my main muse. So, I'm more comfortable with this idea. The other, is a bit of unfamiliar territory for me. I'm no terrible oc maker, but I'm not the most skilled either. Thus creating a Miqo'te character is a bit odd for me as a newcomer. There's lore around the race that I haven't been able to wrap my head around, and I've only been at it a couple days as passing thoughts. Now, onto the vague specifics for Jaune, at least. Jaune Campion is his name, and he was once a member of a large Ul'dahian family which has a moderately impressive tradition of participating as Gladiators in the bloodsands. Historically, the males would most often be brought before the Gladiators guild as a rite, more or less. However, this generation of Campions finds a certain obstacle standing in the way of their habitual claim to glory: Jaune. As the only son between eight children, the burden fell to him to achieve greatness in the arena. The issue lies, however, in the fact that Jaune simply can not bring himself to fight with blood and steel, for glory and honor. The very idea...it sits ill in his heart. Though, his father seemed insistent on placing Jaune in the ring. So, with hesitance he did. However, Jaune met failure after failure, loss after loss. Getting nowhere, he finally placed his sword down and ran away clad in shame. Thus, through a journey filled with much thought and uncertainty, he finds himself in Gridania. Something in his heart of hearts whispers that it is here. A true home for his heart. Within conjury and creation, his soul will be put at ease, knowing that his feet can carry him forward to places beyond bloodied sands. ---end--- Naturally, there will be more in depth development, but that's the idea so far. If you have any questions or suggestions, shoot em my way! --How did you learn about the coalition? I suppose I actually found this place looking for a decent server to join. Someone said that there was an rp server so I was allll up on that. --What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy? I love rp'ing, and I'm creating characters specifically for rp'ing for purpose.. So, I suppose that means heavy, yeah? --Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc) Well, as I've said before, my name's Mike! I'm 19, working and off two days a week: Mondays and Thursdays. There's a few things that I do during my free time, nothing worth mentioning about, really. I use Skype quite often, so if we get to know each other well enough, maybe that'll be a thing we can do! Hm..I'm a big fan of RWBY, I'm a sucker for cuteness, and I think that's about it for my profile! Go ahead and message me if you're ready and able to pick me off my dry feet, and dunk me into the waters or FFXIV rp! I'm sure we'll get along fine, see you around hopefully!
