I know this is rather old but I felt like dropping my little tid-bit in here. Just got out of an FC that did this and the biggest issue I had with it wasn't that it was a plot around their characters but that they were the central point of everything. Essentially if you weren't bending the knee to their character you weren't working with them and it was frustrating for the FC leader and frustrating for me as a player. This was mentioned above, if you can allow people wiggle room to play and experience themselves . Let them enjoy themselves while moving the story plot along, then I see that working out really well. I would not mind a plot that kind of arcs over someone else character, long as I can still influence it in a way and react accordingly to my characters true reaction and not have fear of IC OOC bleeding which happened in said guild. Just make it fair so everyone's able to react and feel a part of it, expect them to try weird shit and possibly stop the plot every now and again cause that's what roleplayers do; and don't get angry if people aren't immediately following the yellow brick road and I think you'll be good.

Hello everyone, the forums have been more then helpful helping me with lore now I have a question asking if any of you have any ideas for this. Normally I'm rather good at writing real life injuries into a character, I do my research and I normally get what I need. This time however I'm struggling a bit. I am creating/have created a character who I'd like to have been injured at some point, the injury would've been a severe burn to a small portion of his body and broken leg at the time of said injury. Smaller injuries wen't along with this as it was a traumatic turning point in his life that kind of carries the rest of his story along. Probably some chest damage and the like. My situation here is, I would really like for him to have some serious damage done to the leg on that side. To the point where he may have a slight limp, and on really bad days acts up from time to time possibly during certain weather conditions or things of the like that I can use at points to kind of break the character down from being this massive unmovable, controlled force to; 'aye... I actually need to accept some help now and again so uh... can I get some help please?' He's pushing his mid 30's I'm sure his body responds to it more often then it would at his younger age. Thing is. I can't figure out a injury in the FFXIV universe or out of it that corresponds? I'm no doctor, I WEB MD my way through about everything and most of the posts I find about injuries that prolong through a lifetime are mostly head traumas. Which I'm willing to go with but I was curious if anyone else had ideas. Something that can't be 'healed' or if healed still causes some form of discomfort over time? I'd prefer to not get rid of the leg completely because I feel it would damage the character to much at the point psychologically. I want to break him down and give him a weakness but not, shatter him? If that makes any sense?

Ahhh You all are always so helpful! Thank you everyone, and see this is what I'm not sure of. Does your character technically still hold all his abilities and keep his skills? Aka do you allow the usage of the jumps because what I'm unsure of is. There are only 10 'active', thats' fine and fair I understand that. But does that mean the rest would effectively give back their soul stones despite all their work unless they get promoted, did something of worth to keep it, or stole them? I know everyone doesn't technically 'USE' soul stones when role playing but if you were to. What happens? Do they effectively relieve you of your stones and armor as if you had passed or do they say. 'Hey we aren't gonna call you in anymore, you're dismissed from your service but keep your shit' kind of deal? I'm curious what people think would make the most sense?

You all have never not been helpful but I have one last question to ask of you all. I heard some people debating this recently and I find myself curious as well. What's the deal with the whole 'inner dragon' struggle and dragon curse after the end of the Dragonsong war? Is everything now? Can Ishgardians guzzle dragons blood(not that you'd want to) without any problems? That whole board had me all types of confused. :surprise:

Calling all Dragoon roleplayers or friends! Dragoon jumping?
Redrick replied to Redrick's topic in RP Discussion
I thought I read something about burial but it could honestly have been an earth shard or something of the sort Im speaking of and considering I can't find it I'll haft to assume that was it AHA  That begs my question then, can a person even do any of the things they learned once the stone is gone? I suppose this is a point of speculation in the community and is more of a 'however you feel' situation? -

Calling all Dragoon roleplayers or friends! Dragoon jumping?

Ah yeah I forgot about that new limited numbers thing. The jumping 'knowledge/ability?' would probably be housed in the soulstone right? So I assume you would need something else to allow you to do it now. Though I think I recalled reading somewhere that Dragoons are buried with their soulstones? I wonder how many of them get to keep their stones. But thank you thats an interesting thought. I contemplated that as well, like focusing aether or an air aspect and using that to assist in the jump. -
Calling all Dragoon roleplayers or friends! Dragoon jumping?

I'm very curious about this, obviously we are in a fantasy world but my curiosity was peeked on just how fantasy people go with this. How do you preform jumps in roleplay? Like a fully trained, or drop out dragoon; anything. I'm very curious, I've known people who claim they can leap the length of a building straight up and the like. How do you all see it/roleplay it? Cheese it up? Because why the hell not? Try to dumb it down a bit? Explain it with some air magic? Idk I'm just curious what the community feels about it. -
Well, these links should help you! -Four High House Lore Compilation -List of Known Lesser Noble Houses -Ishgardian Lore and Titles of Nobility by Bellworks FC -Ishgardian High House Relations and Political Assassination Lore -Azure Dragoon & Order of the Knights Dragoon Lore -The Heavensward and Temple Knight Lore -Ishgardian Scholasticate, Conjury, and Thaumaturgy Lore -Dusk, Stone, Steel, Dawn Vigil Lore -How Has Ishgard Fed Itself? -Halonic Funeral Lore -Eorzean Religion Lore Masterpost (Bit in there about Ishgard and the Enchiridion) -Eorzean Settlements Lore (Coerthas settlements) -Complete Sightseeing Lore Compilation (Ishgardian ones start at #68) AHHH You both are awesome ;A; thank you so much! I want to follow the lore as closely as I can and sometimes it's just difficult to sift through everything. This is so nice and I appreciate it so much thank you both

Okay awesome this was exactly what I was looking for~ Thankyou so much, so how they are viewed outside of Ishgard is gonna be completly diffrent vs In it; so in technicality you can play a paleish Wildwood and icly characters will more then likely be guessing if decided to play that way. Thank you for the info, you helped me out last post as well

I got the courage up to ask the forums some questions before which was really helpful so perhaps I can bother you all with another inquiry? I have a few questions; more so I curious if we have any threads on these particular things? I've looked through a lot of information on here currently but I've gotten some mixed signals as to some of them so I'm curious now. ^^ I'm open to hearing individual headcannons as well as long as they have lore backing and you state they are headcannons; I really appreciate any help I can get. There's so much information in this game lol) (Forgive me I know this is a lot and any questions that are answered I really appreciate) ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Ishgardian Elezen: I have heard that their are both Wildwood models and Duskwight models in Ishgard but here's my question. I've heard from several people that both clans are there. But I've read in lore and from others that they've mixed in all the time that Ishgards' been locked up. So is there any actual clear distinction between the two? Or was it just 'in-game model convenience' and lore wise it really doesn't matter which model you use? :dazed: Dark Knight Lore: I am aware of the vigilanty aspect and the like now what I'm curious about is since they are so illusive of a group to use the techniques you would still need a soul stone correct? I'm more so curious of the vigilanty aspect and the possibility of a negative Aura for the time being in the character before eventually maybe tapping into certain skills in roleplay under extreme emotional circumstance? Sort of like the Warrior class until you harness it correctly? I have yet to finish the DRK questline so I'm unsure of the situationality behind all of this. Is there any repercussion for using the DRK abilities? Dragoon lore: I know the lorebook just got done saying there's only 10 or something actual Dragoons with the jumping abilities right? So I've heard you could have a character who trained as a Dragoon but never actually completed training? Aka has some abilities of the Dragoon but not completely or how would that work? Also wasn't Dragoon also just a title given to those that slayed Dragons? So are there, elite dragoons or the knight dragoons and then 'Dragoons' just the slayer of dragons? :?: The Ishgardian curse: I have completed all of the story that's available but as with many things within this game I'd like to lay it out so I'm sure of myself before building a character and then having someone tell me I"m totally out in left field on the lore. I understand the origin of the curse, my next question is specifically about the details concerning it. Aka; I read in one quest that a woman in the dragoon questline was forced to drink the blood. She transformed but then reverted?; I'm unsure if I read that correctly? Also is it a addiction of sorts? Like a drug or is it more something you try out of curiosity/forced into? Edit: I found a lovely Sounsy post talking about this so I have this one covered~ Thank you all~ Thank you again for any help you can give, now I am to find what I can on the Noble houses, Knighting/Soldier training, and Halones religion. :chocobo:

Edit: Thank you all for the help; and I'm enjoying the discussion afterwards honestly. This is neat

Oh thank you all for the fast feedback I wasn't expecting it; and I wouldn't mind the situational person asking his race and I don't think the character would either. I was just curious about everyone else's thoughts so this was very nice. Thank you all for the thoughts its very helpful : D

I'm curious how people feel about this, for example. I would like to play and roleplay a Ishgardian Duskwight however; I'm personally very attracted to the Wildwood Elezen face options and facial hair options; but I wish to roleplay a Duskwight. I know some people are very particular with certain aspects of roleplay and I was curious how this would be taken if I attempted it. In your own opinions how much would it bother you? (Keep in mind I'd keep away from ear clasps and keep to very dark/pale skintones I can find between the two races)

Oh wow this was really helpful all of it, I was so confused on the whole situation but you all really narrowed it down for me THANK YOU
