Vokcas Posted June 6, 2015 Share #1 Posted June 6, 2015 During the times that word’s had forgotten, the times off fear and despair, lived a man who dreamed of a life, a life living in the light. Each day he prayed to each light’s that had shone under the black sky. But with each pray, a response of silence was heard. With his faith shattered, the man turned from prays to emptiness. Searching for the light that would answer, the man set out on a journey. The first road, led the man to the sight off a long vast land covered in a gold blanket. With no way across, the man began to swim. An hour had past, as the man reached his limit. Slowly the man started to struggle to stay afloat, on the blanket off water. As he sunk further into the depths off his watery grave the man decided he wanted to live. Finding the strength within him and the belief that he would follow this dream. The man pushed himself onto the blanket off water and then against the island shore. Renewed by this new found strength inside him, the man travelled through the land of vast gold blankets. Hours had turned to days before the man finally found civilisation. The people he encountered had nothing and yet, these people where somehow happy. The man asked the people how one can be happy when they have nothing. The people weaved a tale, to the man about how, in life you must appreciate what you have. You do not know whether it will be gone tomorrow, so why not live in the day. Help those less fortunate, these are acts of virtue. Seeing such acts of kindness in the name of virtue, caused the man to feel lighter. People in this world have nothing but at the same time, they have so much; these were the man’s last thoughts as he departed though the golden blanket to find his light once more. His journey took him though the vast golden blankets and into the land of green and tree’s. It wasn’t long until the man stumbled across a group of kids laughing and acting out unknown motions. The man was bewitched by this strange site, as he stood by and watched. It was here, when the kids began to notice that they was a strange dressed man as they rushed over to investigate. They kid’s questioned why was the man dressed funny. In which the man replied with a tale of wonder and adventure, a story about the man who prayed to the silent stars. Under the sounds of silence, the story had finished leaving the kids with the feeling off questions, excitement and wonder. What happened to the man at the end? One of the kids had asked, in which the man responded; “I am afraid that part is still being written”. Just as the man was about to leave, the kids asked him if one day he would come back and finish the story about the man and the stars. The man begun to think on how much he had changed and how much he had learned on this path he has travelled. Was this wisdom he had found? With even more questions the man decided it was time to return home. Month’s had past, as answers to answerless questions stayed within his mind. Upon reaching his final destination, the man saw the sight of a women, a girl he had once known as far back as his memories would take him. When she saw him, she turned and smiled; recounting her old childlike nickname for the man. Feeling strange inside, the man began to wonder, was this it, was he… happy? Was this joy he felt in his heart? At this time, the man started to realise what his journey was truly about. The journey to find a life in the light, it never really occurred to him before. What if the reason’s the star’s was silent, was not because they had turned they back on him but because he had light already inside him. He just needed to find it. One by one, the man suddenly realise that every question he had once asked himself, he had already knew the answers. Thinking back to the kids bewitched by tales of excite, to the land of vast golden blankets with the people whom had nothing but everything as his final thought led him to the star’s that had once prayed too. The man decided, he would share his story and help others find the light that is in life. This was the origin of the Quay. Time has grown old since this day causing the Quay to change. Once a group dedicated to sharing the tale about the man who prayed to stars. Now the Academy of Quayside, a sanctuary that guides; one to follow they hopes and dreams. To believe in the light within them as they let shine forever more. Quayside Academy is a nonaligned Free Company/Linkshell that is open to anyone who would seek knowledge. The instructors within the academy can guide you on your journey in discovering new strengths, knowledge, and power. Furthermore, students are able to be taught in the ways of combat and even about the world that we live in. As time goes on and the more you learn, you will have the chance to move up the school’s ranks and eventually even graduate. Quayside Academy’s concept is all about you, the player, having the ability to roleplay how you want and when you want, within reason. Many guilds claim to support this in an attempt to attract new members, but at Quayside Academy, we are going to tell you how we support this promise. Because Quayside Academy is designed around the “VAK Learning Styles System”, every character admitted and housed in the academy will be placed with other students that have a similar learning style as them. For instance, if your character is a visual learner, you will be placed in to House Sylphi with other visual learners. Unlike normal academies that may focus on physical or magical prowess and skills, Quayside Academy will also teach other subjects such as fine arts, Eorzean sociology, industrial arts, and more in addition to the standard combat lessons. Aside from the standard educational roleplay that Quayside Academy offers, we also provide additional roles for people who feel their characters are beyond being taught or are just looking for something more. The first being an instructor role, where as the name implies, you will be teaching bright young students in your own field. The second is called the “Guardian of the Quay”, the Academy’s elite guard that are tasked with protecting her students and secrets. As already stated, Quayside Academy offers a wide variety of roleplay types that will cater to most people’s needs, whether this is learning, instructing, or acting on behalf of the Quayside Faculty. While we would love to have everyone, we must request that you do not bend your character to be able to roleplay with us. As there are some types of roleplay that the Academy will not support, we can not stop you from doing them, we can only request that you keep them in the proper channels. While we are a heavy roleplay FC and LS first and foremost, we also strive to participate in PvE and PvP for those who enjoy those parts of the game. We also work to have crafting available for those who would need it so that everyone’s needs are completely accommodated for. When a student applies to join Quayside Academy, they will be given a questionnaire that is used to determine the most optimal house for their learning style. This house will not mean the student is limited in who they are able to roleplay with, it just means they will be fitted with students that share a similar learning style. House Salamand: If you learn best from body gestures, movements, object manipulation, and positioning, you are a Kinesthetic learner and will be sorted in to House Salamand. House Salamand students are typically active and fast when it comes to making important decisions. They are enthusiastic about everything they do and will normally go on to become great leaders on the battlefield. Some of the possible strengths you may have are that you are driven, confidence, proactive, or courageous. Possible weaknesses might be you are stubborn, pompous, assuming, or foolhardy. House Undin: If you learn best from listening, rhythms, tone, and chants, you are an Auditory learner and will be sorted in to House Undin. House Undin students are usually free-spirited dreamers that always have their heads in the clouds. They remember what they hear and will typically go on to become political figures with great responsibility. If you’re apart of Undin, you might possess the strengths of being witty, entertaining, amicable, or hedonistic. The weaknesses you might have are that you are cynical, annoying, haphazard, or overindulgent. House Gnoma: If you learn best from listening, gestures, and pictures, and don’t really prefer just one learning style, you are an Auditory - Digital learner and thus will be sorted in to House Gnoma. House Gnoma students are commonly respectable and pride themselves in the work that they produce. With the ability to retain information from all of the various learning styles, House Gnoma students usually go on to become leaders in economic sectors. If you are a Gnoma student, your strengths might include having practicality, being reliable, forgiving, or humble. Your weaknesses are perhaps being humorless, indecisive, suggestible, or stoic. House Sylphi: If you learn the best from pictures, shapes, sculptures, and painting, you are a Visual learner and can probably retain information that you see very easily. These two things mean that you will be sorted in to House Sylphi and may go on to become an intellectual leader. If you’re a Sylphi student, your strengths are probably being astute, analytical, knowledgeable, or a perfectionist. Your weaknesses could be you are impersonal, hesitant, condescending, or elitist. If you decide your character would fit into Quayside Academy and you wish to apply to join our Academy. Currently they are two ways you can apply.
