Hi, everyone. I am just really happy to say that I was able to find this website while looking for a very specific way of extending my game experience. While I don't have as much time as I would like to go online and play FFXIV, I have come to really enjoy conversing with other players and engaging in ongoing RP through chat applications such as Skype. Having now been able to find a website dedicated to RP in the FFXIV universe, I am getting a great feeling as to where this can all lead me.

 

I have previous experience in RP from other forums and some smaller name MMOs, and would really like to be able to come to a place where I can connect with like minded people to really explore the theater of the mind. I have a few questions as to how this exactly works on this website, however and hope to find the answers I need to enhance my experiences with you all.

 

First, I would like to know if it is possible to carry out RP within this website itself? Due to my current schedule and FC situation, I don't really have the opportunity to switch servers (I'm on Sargatanas) to let's say Balmung and join the RP there, and even if I did, I play only just enough to run a few dailies and some raiding before I have to go to bed for work. I want to know if it is possible to join/host RP activity within the Hydaelyn Roleplayers site with other players despite being on different servers/time zones? Are we able to build stories with one another here and act them out in a pseudo alternate universe where we are standing in front of each other in the Waking Sands in Ul'dah? :-)

 

My second question is, what is the general view of RP kept exclusively to this message board or mobile devices among the members/leadership here? Are we able to play out entire sagas of character development and lifespans from the comfort of our private chats and forum? What I am referring to is, can I, lets say, create a fresh character that does not exist in FFXIVARR as a digital character, but exists here on this website and use them to interact with another member who is open to having conversation with me? I only have one character which I play exclusively in game, but have sooooo many ideas for alternate characters that don't really get played out since I can only focus on my main when playing the game.

 

Would I be able to fabricate an alternate character, and utilize them with you all here despite not having a digital avatar to play with in the online version of the game?

 

 

Those are my biggest concerns heading into this wide world of RP, and I look forward to hearing what the community has to say about all this. Thank you all for having me and I look forward to enjoying my time with you all.

Hello and welcome, first off.  

 

Forum-based RP is all over the place here.  My longest running story has played out exclusively on the forums and our characters have never met in-game, so that's fine.  And it's a great way to create a whole cast of characters without having to save slots for a million alts.  

 

Basically, as long as people are excellent to each other, you can pretty much interact with others however you like.
