Four Cold Walls [Request]

Nikkita surveyed the water distastefully. It appeared that the only way out would be to dive down and find the place where the tide was coming in at. Thankfully she could swim, though she didn't like to, this was where she had to decide if the old man would be of any use. If not he might be a useful distraction if they found him drowning. It was too bad she had no time, poisons or weapons to make it a properly painful death when the time came though judging by the look of fear on his face perhaps it at least will be terrifying for him.

"Old man, do you know the lay out of the outside? Like where their boats would be kept?"

The old man shook his head as he hurried down the pathway to the water down below. He knew very little, as his years in this prison had been far longer than most who were kept there. Echoing up the path from which they came was the sound of shouting soldiers and guards, likely they were soon to come into view. The man hurries down, and slips down the path falling and hitting his head on the stone earth below him. Blood flows from his head, as he tries to push himself back to his feet.

Jagrath's hands barely held back the tethered Raptors who, snarling and howling, snapped their teeth anticipation of their prey. The armored soldier grinned underneath his steel helmet, the men at his back barely keeping pace as they descended, the stone walls giving way to smooth stone. They were nearing the old port, the ancient method that had been used to bring prisoners into the citadel. Though it had been some time since it had been put to use, it was not so ancient that Jagrath was unfamiliar with it and its layout. Ahead of them, tunnel turned, widening. They were drawing near, and the men at his back were unleashing their blades, the ringing of it echoing outwards into the watery cove.

Far above, Guytrain Bilmari, captain of the guard at the citadel, was closing in on his prey, just a flight or two more above. Though he had no information on who it was, he had his suspicions, and though he had no way to truly know the location of this prey, his instinct for tracking down his prey had always been impeccable. The escort of a dozen men could not be hidden, their boots shaking the stone pathways upward, the halls echoing with the sound of their footsteps. It rose upwards to the watch tower, where Kain and Revan now stood, at an impasse.

Kain's grin had not faded, and he secured the Great Axe to his back. "I've always had a talent with air magic that may provide something of a cushion for this fall," he said, unstrapping the rope at his right glove, a short wooden staff falling forward and into his palm. He secured his hands within the noose while maintaining a firm grip around the rough wood of the staff. "It is either a good day to die, or a good day to survive."

Nikkita heard the guards coming and cursed under her breath. There was no time to properly insure that the old man wouldn't talk so it was a windfall when he fell. Perhaps he wouldn't say anything if he still believed her to be a frightened young woman running away.

Gracefully she hurried down the steps, only slightly slipping twice as ash approached the old man at the bottom.

"You can't swim now and they might be able to help you," she said touching his shoulder as she ran by leaving hime with a sad and pained look over her shoulder. "Stay alive old man.." she said approaching the area where it was easiest to enter the water. The cold of the water nearly took her breath from her lungs, her flimsy prison grab giving her hardly any protection, but she swam out toward the far wall that the tide seemed to be coming from. Her hand on the wall she dove down hoping to find the opening on the first try. Trying to hide in the water in the cave with the guards there would be more difficult.

(Hel pme here I have no idea how deep or if there really is an exit under there she can find.)

((I'll reply tomorrow, as I got work tomorrow so can't spend to much time on this. However, beneath the water about twenty feet below the surface is a submerged dock. The entrance is a giant cave wall gap that ships could pass through. However, the tide has continuously risen over the past couple of years and so it had probably not been used for the past four or five years. (damn you, global warming! xD) You'd likely find the top of it by the light shining through the water, only five feet below the cave wall... and may also explain why the water had a nice emerald glow to it. Within the cave floor could be seen submerged ship parts, and a submerged dock. Some wood planks float on the surface. But yes, the water is crystal clear, and even kind of pretty looking with the sunbeams glowing and reflecting against the bottom of the cave.))

(And Btw- The old man is lucky she really didn't have time to think about the situation and that he fell. She really is that cold-blooded. lol. )

Under water she followed the light, only slightly noting the rotting dock below her, until she found the bottom of the wall which thankfully wasn't very far down. On the other side she stayed close to the wall and rose up to the surface gasping for air. Brushing her bangs aside she stopped to take a look at exactly where she was.

Jagrath came down upon the old man, the blood from his head spilling down across the floor. The body was spread out, the man mumbling incoherently, the inevitable result of the wound. Still, he looked as if he would be fine once secured. Quickly glancing about he found a nearby outcropping of rocks, guiding the Raptors to it and securing their long leather leashes about, secured so that they would not move.

Walking quickly back to his men, his hand went to his helmet, the latch released and the steel item falling onto the rocky floor. He did the same to his chest armor, feeling it fall away. He pointed to two of his men, who did the same, and then quickly walked to the surface of the water. "There's only a bit of distance down between here and another section of the cavern where the ships passed. Come on," he growled, pushing into the water and sinking below, his hands parting the way ahead as he sank into the darkness. The next section of the cave, along with light to see by, was only so far ahead. He and his two guards pushed deep within, turning upwards as they followed the wall until they could rise back upwards. They shot like arrows up through to the surface of the water, all three men immediately scanning for their target as they did so.

((On the otherside, is well... The sea parting the Aldenard Land mass and the Garlean empire from the rest of the world. Basically, you are on the northeastern most tip of the coast of Eorzea. So there is nothing but ocean, and cliffwalls where the fortress/castle stands. You'll be doing a lot of swimming, unless of course you try to climb the cliff wall that these high tide ocean waves are crashing against... but keep in mind, there is about 200 some feet between the waterline and the top of the cliffs. Forests sit atop these cliffs after clearing the plains and plateu which the castle sits on))

Revan nodded looking out towards the sea, and had taken a deep breath through his nostrils, closing his eyes for just a moment. He looks over to Kain and nods, then with his foot kicks the lever of the Balista. The bolt launched out, travelling several hundred feet, the rope line became shorter and shorter until the noose which they had their hands wrapped around ripped forward, and ripped Kain and Daishi over the cliff wall. Revan groaned in pain as he felt his arm pulled out of socket, and finally he managed to free his hand from the noose during the free fall. They were nearly three hundred and fifty feet over the ocean's surface when they were atop the Balista tower and now, they were coming to the water surface quickly, like pottery about to crash upon stone. Revan closed his eyes hoping Daishi's "magic" was going to reduce the pain that was in store for both of them.

((They would have landed about 15 or some yards where Tsumi's character had just surfaced.))

Nikkita grumbled as she saw that she was faced with nothing but ocean in one direction and cliff on the other. Looking up she realized that it might be her only option but she'd have to swim out far enough that the castle wasn't directly above her and hope guards wouldn't be waiting at the top by then.

As she started to swim she heard the commotion above and looked up to see two men falling toward the water. She then looked back as she heard something reak through the water and realizing they were guards she started swiming hoping these men wouldn't land too close to her. She still had no choice but to "run" and hope since she had absolutely nothing but her wits as long as she had no magical focus for Thaumatage spells. Hopefully she could use these men to full advantage since there would be nothing worse than going back to that accursed cell.

(Edited: Sorry with the talk of ropes I thought they were climbling with ropes. lol)

(Yes by work we mean a book proposal due in a month and I'm 80,000 words short :P)

The wind whipped at them, Kain's grin growing as the waters beneath began to rush at them, forming a black wall broken up by waves that was soon to hit. Holding tight to the simple staff in his hand, he thrust his hand forward, a swell of air suddenly rushing up from the space beneath them. The surface of the water whipped at them as the winds rose up off the shoal off the shallows, pushing along towards the watery depths towards which the two men were plummeting. A sudden, surging gust pushed up off the ocean surface, blasting them so strongly that they were set off course, their downward momentum suddenly shifting as they were buoyed inwards, just slightly back towards the prison. The sudden break in their fall prevented what would have most likely been a fatal landing, though as their backs crashed into the waves Kain could feel a sudden pang in his back, as the strike was still hard. Their bodies sank underneath the dark line of the water, plunging into its grasp a moment before the two suddenly surged back upwards to the surface. Kain gasped at air even as a wave crashed into their frames, carrying them backwards even further.

His gaze flew to the rear, towards the direction of the inbound current. He thought he could see someone swimming in the distance.

(How close are Revan and Kain to where Nik is since it sounds like from you post she's far away.)

Nikkita continued to swim glad where they landed wouldn't interfere with her flight. Her only hope was to get to that cliff and up to an area before the guards got there. She had little hope of finding a weapon since the prison didn't seem to employ Thaumatarge's, probably just to spite her, so she just had to concentrate on finding safety.
