In an attempt to save visitors to this page the trouble of having to scroll through every reply, I will duplicate the update post here in the first post, especially since our company has undergone a LOT of changes to the point where the first few posts no longer apply at all.

 

Every edit will have the date of the update listed. I will also spoiler the original post as per my understanding of this forum's rules regarding blanking/changing posts(mods feel free to correct me).

The company is still here – alive and well! RP is back in full swing now that the large majority of members have pushed through the content available with the expansion and subsequent patches.

Another successful moon under our belts. Contracts are getting done in a timely manner and our members are getting paid for their services. It appears there may be an unforeseen connection between some of our contracts that we are now investigating in hopes of finding out the connection and meaning.

 

We are still welcoming more hands to join on with us as we take on more dangerous contracts for more lucrative pay, as well as investigate the unknown corners and cracks of the world to find what mysteries lay beneath.

 

We have a particular need for those skilled in the medical arts, be they aetherical, physical, or both. We could also use a few more people that are skilled in artifact recovery and research.

OOC:

 

Again, we’re still here and enjoying all that this game has to offer! With the majority of our members done with the MSQ, a lot of our focus has returned to RP.

 

Officer-led weekly events are taking place on a regular basis, but we always encourage our non-officer members to lead their own, as well!

 

PvE is still a pretty big thing for us as well! We have a weekly “PvE night” (Saturday) where our company gets together to take on whatever it is everybody wants with regard to PvE. Sometimes that means getting our weekly Omega clear, sometimes that means clearing current EX primals for gear (and hopefully dogs), sometimes it means old primal unsynced mount farms, sometimes that means clearing out the older raids like Binding Coil and Alex… on and on. We decide what it is we do once all of our participating members sign on and vote.

 

We used to do maps on our PvE nights, but that ended up taking away the majority of the time so we’ve separated them out and now do them on their own day. Our map nights now take place every Sunday, and we’ve had some decent luck making the big bucks across the board.

As to the housing, we plan to get in and grab a house with the coming patch. As we all know there is going to be a massive land rush, especially with the dropped prices. As such, we do have a contingency plan in place should we be unable to snag a plot for ourselves. So... have no fear! Though it may seem like we have no house currently, there will be one by June 7!

Wow! What a month! We've had a slew of applicants join us... and each one has been amazing!

 

We were also one of the lucky few companies that managed to grab a plot during the 3.3 land rush! Come visit us in the Lavender Beds, Plot 16 of the 12th ward!

 

Due to the large influx of recruits, we had our doors closed for a while there while we made sure that everyone felt at home and part of the company as a whole, but now...

Man oh man the recruits just keep coming! We've had another very successful recruitment drive and have a good handful of new recruits that have joined the family.

As such, as of this post, our doors are closed for recruitment. This is to promote healthy relationships among the members we already have before we drown ourselves in a sea of unknown faces.

After a bit of a hiatus, we are finally ready to start adding names to our rosters once more! Black Griffin is an adventuring company and we're currently seeking skilled and motivated adventurers that wish to join up with others to take on leves, hunts and other contracts to accumulate wealth and do some good along the way!

Has it been a month already? Goodness! Time does indeed fly when one is having fun!

 

We've had a blast in January and February is shaping up to be a great time, too!

Another month has passed already? My, my! It's quite easy to lose track when so much is going on!

 

 

IC:

Well, our company is most certainly still here and rocking it! We've got weekly events rolling, both member and officer-led. Beyond that, we continue to have jobs (leves and hunts) to fill in the gaps for those seeking out a little more structured RP between events!

 

We've just started to roll out an "overarching" story that we hope to be exciting and captivating for all involved!

First and foremost, a welcome and congratulations to Ketenbhrat Iyrnundsyn as he has decided to sacrifice his time and life to being an officer of the company!

 

We continue to run content together, continually gearing each other up for the upcoming patch and release of Stormblood. We also hold weekly map/aquapolis runs to help make each other rich!

Another month gone and more RP in the books. Not much to add, honestly, that is any different from last month, however here we go.

 

 

IC:

Our company story line is in full swing and is really starting to heat up! Our members can expect more action in the coming weeks as the plot continues to thicken!

 

Beyond that, we are still holding our “normal, non-overarching” events weekly, as well. Most are adventure-themed in some way, though we do like to throw in a few social/laid back RP events from time to time. We actually have a fishing contest coming up this weekend!

 

To cover the gaps in between events, our leve and hunt system continues to be in place and is working great!

 

 

OOC:

We continue to run content together, continually gearing each other up for release of Stormblood. Weekly Mhach raid trio clears as well as any other content that people would like or need throughout the week. We also hold weekly map/aquapolis runs to help make each other rich!

A short and sweet post this time around.

 

The officers have come together and decided that, for the time being, we should close recruitment. This will allow all of our members a chance to interact with the upcoming expansion in a more care-free mindset, as well as give us as a company a chance to understand where we stand in the world of Hydaelyn with the upcoming (hopefully) flood of lore.

Changes: The key word over the past two weeks!

 

As can easily be seen, our company has undergone quite a few changes!

Formerly known as Black Griffin Adventuring Company, this free company has undergone a change of hands and is now known as Iron Raven Expeditions and Excavations.

 

While the company will run in a fairly similar manner as it has in the past, a new focus has been added to the adventuring that was done previous. Iron Raven will now also be delving into ruins and the unknown of Hydaelyn in search of lost knowledge and artifacts!

 

As such expeditions can require the expertise of several different callings, we are looking to hire on people that are skilled in all sorts of areas.

 

We need people not afraid to face the dangers locked away in ruins that have been unexplored for ages.

We need people that know how to handle rare and brittle artifacts so that we can retrieve them with as little damage as possible.

We need people capable of crafting and gathering of all sorts, as we will need supplies and upkeep of our gear during our expeditions.

We need people capable of mending wounds, be it through aetherical or physical means.

The company has undergone quite a few changes! As mentioned above, we are still doing adventuring-type roleplay, but have also added "excavations" to our list. We'll be delving into ruins for lost knowledge, relics, and artifacts of ages past while still taking on the leves and hunts offered to us by the adventurer's guild and grand companies!

The reasoning behind this is that while our IC theme may have changed, our OOC outlook on what we want out of the game (both in terms of RP and PvE) has not. We’re still here and kicking! Most of our members have pushed through the Stormblood content and are at cap/past the MSQ, so we’re returning a little more of our focus back to the RP side of things once more!

As mentioned above, we’re still alive and kicking! We’ve pushed through the content the expansion had to offer and now we’re ready to focus a little more on the RP once more!

 

We’re back to planning our weekly, officer-led events and welcome our members to lead their own as well!

 

That being said, we still very much enjoy slapping pixels about to upgrade our gear together. Raids, extremes, even old content is still very much run by us on a weekly basis during our PvE night! One thing we’re really looking forward to is diving into the new maps with the next patch!

 

With our focus no longer being almost completely drawn away by all of the new content, we are doubling our efforts a bit with regard to recruitment. In so doing, a lot of similar questions have been asked of us that I’ll go ahead and put into a quick FAQ here.

 

Q: How many members do you have?

A: As of writing this post we have 10 separate accounts in our company. 8 of said accounts are roleplayers that are ICly part of the company, the other 2 are friends of members that are along for the ride in an OOC (PvE/PvP) capacity.

 

Many people see that number and say that we’re small. Yeah, we may well be for your standards and, quite honestly, we like it that way as it makes everything we do that much more personable as you’re not just some random number in a sea of people.

 

Our recruitment standards are high and people often see us as sticks in the mud. This is the way we enjoy RP and, as such, the way we have formed this company. The information on our company site tells the tale of who we are and what we like to do in the community we are creating in this company.

 

Q: What do you mean by lore strict?

A: Simply put, we stick to the lore in our roleplay and character creation and development as best as we can and do not stray into grey areas if at all possible. We expect this of all of our members.

 

That being said, no one knows everything there is to know of the lore in this game and sometimes even we make mistakes. When that happens and we’re shown the true lore, we apologize, rectify, and move on.

 

 

Q: When are you guys most active?

A: In general our company is most active during the (American) evenings. As a general window, on weekdays we are most active from about 4 PM to about 10 PM CST. On weekends we’re off and on all day.

 

Our officer-led events usually fall on Wednesdays, Fridays, or Saturdays during the windows posted above. Our PvE nights, for now, are Saturday afternoons.

 

Q: How often do you guys RP?

A: As often as people want. If ever there is a desire for RP, someone just needs to speak up and/or post an event and it’ll happen! 

 

However, one thing a lot of people seem to expect when joining our company (or possibly any RP company) is that RP is just a constant thing… that it’s just going to fall in their laps. All of our members enjoy all (or at least most… PvP is hit and miss) of the aspects of the game and will often times be off running dungeons, crafting and gathering, doing hunts, racing chocobos, etc. In other words, they don’t RP 100% of the time!

 

We don’t spoon feed RP to people. We don’t hold hands. We expect people to speak up and ask for RP if they wish for it to happen… not just sit at the company house with the RP tag and hope that another member comes along and joins in.
