Orin Posted August 26, 2013 Share #1 Posted August 26, 2013 I found this video online after seeking answers for why my game looks like this. Any help would be great to solving this issue. Link to comment
Sophia Posted August 26, 2013 Share #2 Posted August 26, 2013 I think this is just a result of latency. You could see something similar in XI if your connection was quite bad, and it just seems to be how SE handles it. Instead of seeing others teleport due to bad latency, in XIV they just seem to stop and then when it catches up the server shows them running at a crazy speed. As I'm playing from China on the NA servers, on a bad day all I see is this to extreme lengths. On a good day it's there but only slightly, so I don't really notice it. I have no idea how you can go about fixing it, though. Link to comment

E'irawen Posted August 26, 2013 Share #4 Posted August 26, 2013 Yes and no. It's nothing to do with your graphics card or anything like that, if that's what you're primarily worried about. Basically, your (internet) connection is just having a hard time sending/receiving the information from the servers. (Just to clarify the earlier post for you. ) Link to comment
erosskye Posted August 26, 2013 Share #5 Posted August 26, 2013 That's what happens when servers have been smashed to ruble in two days. Link to comment

Sorry if I wasn't clear. It's how the game handles internet connections, basically. Tweaking graphics and such won't 'fix' it. The only 'fix' is a faster/more reliable internet connection, as far as I'm aware. It'll probably get better when the servers calm down and there isn't hundreds of people running around in each zone causing so much data to go back and forth, though! At least that's my hope. KitKat Posted August 26, 2013 Share #7 Posted August 26, 2013 My game doesn't look like that at all. There were no carbuncles in your video. Seriously though... It's your internet. If your internet is slow for any reason, it will struggle with running the game smoothly, even more so in areas with a lot of PCs present. Link to comment
Moondoggie Posted August 26, 2013 Share #8 Posted August 26, 2013 That's pretty bad. Had a couple of lag spikes but nothing like that happened. The odd bit of jitteryness for a few seconds when in a highly populated zone or a quest NPC taking like 10 seconds to appear on screen. Link to comment
