  Medium to Heavy. I'm all for long running stories or short random conversations.

  These are perfectly fine, but should be used as mediums for furthering a story and not a means to determine the outcome of something. Most cases I am in a battle it's known between the fighters who is going to win before it even happens.
   
  
• Views on IC romance:

  By all means if it makes sense.
   
  
• Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc):

  Also perfectly fine if it makes sense. It's not uncommon that I'll leave openings in a character's story so that people I enjoy playing with can join into a family.

  A character should be firmly set in the lore of the universe. I'll keep my dimensional walkers out of a game if you do.

  They are handy channels of communication? Depending on the channel it can be IC or OOC and that should be distinguished for everyone in said channel? That said, I view say as IC unless I slap on ((Some of these)).
