Tenor Posted September 13, 2013 Share #1 Posted September 13, 2013 Why hello, I didn't see you there! Welcome to my welcoming, which is in itself me welcoming myself to be welcomed by you, the wonderful people of community roleplay! I'm completely new to the FFXIV roleplaying scene, and a simple google search led me here to this (admittedly awesome) site. I'll follow the template, since It's a pretty good way of getting my info out there :3 -- MMORPG background -- I've played a couple, but the most prominent one would have to be Champions Online. That was the first MMO where I really got into the RP aspect of it (before it was mostly forums and whatnot). I eventually left, as the RP guild I was in kind of dissolved and I found the base game was not enough to carry the lost momentum. -- RP experience -- I've been roleplaying ever since I could type. I've roleplayed in forums, MUDs (MUCKs, MUSHs, etc.), MMOs, Second Life and good old fashion IRC. My favorite roleplay will always be Champions Online, so much fun. Still, I think this could be even better! -- Character ideas/info -- I've decided not to recycle any of my old characters from anything I've done before! I've got about 3 swirling in my head right now: a shy caster, a boisterous lancer, and a cheeky monk. All subject to change, of course. -- How did you learn about the coalition? -- Google , and by a lesser extent perhaps Kotaku. -- What kind of a role-player? -- I generally hover between medium to heavy, mostly medium. I don't mind going really deep into it though, in fact I generally have a lot of fun! -- Anything from real life? -- I'm a 21 y/o programmer who lives in California. I love video games, Final Fantasy, writing, drawing, and generally anything that allows me to be creative. So, how about it guys? Think there's a place for me in this wacky Final Fantasy world...roleplay...thing? P.S. Happy first post to me~! P.P.S. I plan on playing on the Gilgamesh server (I sure hope they're open for new chars, I haven't checked D: Link to comment
Getsuya Posted September 14, 2013 Share #2 Posted September 14, 2013 Yay another new Gilgamesh-er! Your RP background sounds a lot like mine, I was really into MU*s back in the day too and recently it's been mostly forum stuff. This'll be my first time getting into serious RP in a MMO setting. If you're ever on late nights or weekends hopefully we'll meet up (assuming the crazy Japanese online sellers I bought my copy from eventually get around to, you know, sending me what I already paid for...) Torvhan Posted September 14, 2013 Share #4 Posted September 14, 2013 Welcome to the RPC, hope you enjoy your time here. On Character locks I can not speak from personal experience but having read through much of the forums the locks seem to be relaxed mostly during late night/early morning times. Likely coinciding with lower starting area population, and once your character is made I have not seen much in the way of difficulty signing on since the initial server troubles. Ah Champions, unfortunately it suffered from lack of dev team manpower, Perfect World was more focused on Star Trek online, sad really I was really hoping it would have been closer to City of Heroes in quality. Well I hope to see you around the forums. Link to comment
Tenor Posted September 17, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted September 17, 2013 Awesome, people actually replied! I've been working on my character concepts, looking into the lore and naming conventions and whatnot so I can "hit the ground running" so to speak. Once I'm confident in that we can get this party on the road (assuming I can pull my attention away from Kingdom Hearts 1.5...so much nostalgia!). I am wondering if there are places in-game that harbor the RP crowd, like a particular tavern or what-have-you? One of the toughest parts of getting into RP is the "walk-up", and it's a little easier in a public RP place. Thing. Link to comment

Howdy, i'm not super familiar with Gilgamesh, but most mid range level taverns seems to have 1-2 people usually. Costa De Sol is a popular place, as is the area outside Camp Horizon. I'd suggest checking in with a Linkshell or two and going from there. Feel free to ask more questions. Addendum: Main cities, are also quite popular, little out of the way areas can be teeming with people (notably the Ampitheatre and the pool in old Gridania.) Link to comment
VisualFish Posted September 18, 2013 Share #7 Posted September 18, 2013 Yay! New person I just got into this myself--but I am very much a newb. I am new to MMO RP, but not RP. I pretty much just tossed myself in. I created a character and got on Gilgamesh today just fine. I'll be looking into linkshells and the like--stalk around the forums and see how exactly one hops on board into these things I've always done one-on-one paragraph form RP exclusively with a friend of mine. So playing with other people and in game is totally new territory for me. Hope we both have fun! Link to comment

You have to share "screen-time" with more people, and you have to be quick or you'll be left behind (but not so quick that it's not good RP). I can say that it's definitely one of the most interesting forms of RP I've done. Anywho, maybe I'll see you in the game! This is the start... Of a brand new adventure! Link to comment
