Thrashing Boar Posted September 29, 2013 Share #1 Posted September 29, 2013 Proposed guild name: The Eighty Sins (SINS) Significance: The reference here is twofold, and the first is rather obvious to those familiar with the Thanalan; the stairs ascending from the Central desert up into the city proper. The second is the number of members within the Free Company's canon. Regardless of the company's true size there will be no more than eighty members in the narrative, with many of them being filled out by NPC's controlled by the company's writers. The "Sins" is attributed to the often criminal nature of most of the company's original members, as well as the recruitment of such men that might be considered morally questionable in the vein of accomplishing the greater good. The Tale so far: In the wake of the Calamity the realm suffered like never before, what with the would be heroes of the hour, Adventurers, being swept off on the charred winds of the thrice damned Elder Primal, Bahamut. With a sudden lack of willing souls to delve into the darkest corners of the realm, the beasts that lurked just over our shoulders became brazen, and ventured forth to our doorsteps... The scattered peoples of Eorzea banded together to turn the tide of the war after the war, fighting to keep what little they still had free from the clutches of beasts and monsters. Unbeknownst to most, criminals and outlaws found themselves freed from their dilapidated and abandoned prisons, and while some took to murder and mayhem upon the unwitting and unprepared populace, others took to wandering, searching for a fresh start in other lands. Thus did the sinners gather. Coming together in the Thanalan at the behest of a mysterious benefactor, the bewildered outlaws were groomed into a mercenary band during a period of undeniable need for such men. Where the Brass Blades dare not tread, where the Flame's Light did not reach, the Eighty Sins would be found turning their swords on the enemies of Eorzea. Then, one by one, Adventurers began to return to the realm, and the reformed band of criminals were hunted by those they had protected until scarce but a handful remained. Their good deeds forgotten. In the past few turns of the moon however, rumors have trickled in with the vagrants and vagabonds pouring into Ul'dah in search of refuge from the smoldering remains of their livelihood; the same benefactor from the days just after the Calamity has sent out the call to his old men, and the Eighty Sinners of the Thanalan gather once more. What in the seven hells do they intend for the realm, and do they return as friend...or foe? The premise: An homage to the "Band of the Hawk" from the masterful "Berzerk" the Sins return to their previous glory will run the gambit of mission types and wildly varying objectives. The most linear description of the path of the Sins is one of a gathering of new and old outlaws, sell swords, and weary soldiers, resuming their selfless work for the peoples of the Thanalan. The guild leader and his associates will make a valiant attempt at reforming the more hardened criminals of the band...by directing their ire onto the enemies of Ul'dah. The blood on the sand is not forgotten, however, and the ultimate aim of the reformed Eighty Sins is to rise their leaders to prominence in Ul'dah by way of continued and faithful service to the crown, until the Sins are brought into the Immortal Flames and made their own self contained militant entity. Once the Company has its hands deep into the filth of the city state, they will begin to alter the laws to favor them, and repay the ever so kind Adventurers for mounting so many of their heads on pikes for paltry sums of coin. This will mark a major turn for the guild from Chaotic Good to Lawful Evil. Member size: 30-40 Focus: Story telling and personal character growth Personal storytelling Slight canon flexibility In game event and time line acknowledgement IC dungeon and Guildhest runs PVE and raid progression Guild "titles" and rewards Paid work for artisans What we're looking for: A good few writers. The story telling of the Sins will take place in volume and chapter formats, with the focus on a single "story teller" for a given chapter with some (that are so inclined) perhaps even planning out entire volumes on the path to our prominence. One shots and non canon stories are welcomed as well, as the goal of having writers is to allow them to grow and express themselves within the guild. A website designer. This one is a must. Making an Enjin or Guildlaunch is one thing, making one look outstanding is another. Should the site designer feel no cause to remain with the guild upon the sites completion (and provided its a truly interesting design) they will be compensated financially by myself. A PVE Co Leader. Something I find important to the longevity of any guild, RP or not, is a section designated to running and clearing the PVE content. While this is in no way the focus of the Sins, it will be there for those that want to still be able to play with their friends within the guild even when they aren't up for drowning their sorrows at the Quicksand with guildies. The duties of this co leader will be discussed, but they will have full control over their portion of the guild provided any major decisions are discussed with me. A video editor. This one is less important, and is more of a personal wish of mine. I enjoy the idea of our chapters having a small video introduction to promote continued excitement from members and potential recruitment prospects alike. Founders: All of the above positions are staples of the guild, but first and foremost I require founders. This needs to be a group of people that agree with the direction and ideas of the guild enough to help lay the ground work to getting it up, running, and successful. My contributions to the project will range from writing, to planning, to funding to leadership, and I need a table of officers I can trust to responsibly handle things when I am not able to. Founders (In RP) will be members of the first Eighty Sins, survivors of the great hunt that purged so many of our brothers in arms. This will also come with in guild combat perks, which can be discussed in full at a later date. Who I am: I am a role player and avid MMO supporter of more than half a decade assisting and running guilds. I have had major story line control in two such guilds, and have always led justly and fairly. The formation of this guild stems from my desire to see a guild on Balmung reach notoriety for its superior storytelling, character development, and collection of fun loving drama free members. I look forward to playing and growing with you all. You may contact me regarding any of the above positions at "[email protected]" should I be unable to check this site and I shall began talking and planning with you once we have discussed your abilities at length. For any interested, please post why you think you would be a good fit and for what position, or simply express your interest in the guild! Have leadership experience elsewhere? Fantastic!
