I was curious to see what sort of artists folks here listen to that may come as a bit of a surprise to the community.

Hehe, I've had my Last.fm account since I was in highschool, and wasn't scrobbling for several years when I started college, so it's still much more influenced by what I listened to when I was younger, than what I listen to now:

1: Sentenced

2: The Ark (Swedish glam pop/rock)

3: Atlantis (Danish musical)

4: Nightwish

5: 1996 London Studio Cast (Jesus Christ Superstar)

6: Queen

7: Gackt

8: Andrew Lloyd Webber

9: Original Cast Starlight Express

10: System of a Down

11: Marilyn Manson

12: Benny Anderson/Tim Rice/ Björn Ulvaeus

13: Shock Treatment

14: Stephen Schwartz (Wicket)

15: Peter Spies, Thomas Høg (More of the Danish musical, just from a different CD <.<)

It's actually sort of interesting for me to see. Some of it is actually still pretty accurate of what I listen to, some if it I wonder why isn't higher placed, but I guess it's because I wasn't scrobbling when I listened a lot to it.

Well, considering know one really knows me or anything since I'm still a less-than-100-posts newb ("You don't know me! You don't know me! You don't know nothin'!"), I doubt the community will be either surprised or unsurprised with whatever I put up. Nevertheless, I may as well pick the music I listen to that most people who do know me double-take at when they hear I listen to it.

In particular? Despite being about as ghostly as Casper in the skintone department and also fitting the WASP stereotype to a T (minus the Protestant part), my playlists are filled to the brim with old school hip-hop (or modern tracks inspired by it), jazz music (both nu and classic), and J-Hip-Hop (think Samurai Champloo; Rest in Peace, Nujabes). There's a few "mainstream" items, however.

(I don't use LastFM, sadly, so I'm basically winging this list. Sample song for each artist/group, too.)

1) Nujabes -

2) Giant Panda - Strings

3) Sound Providers -

4) People Under the Stairs - The Breakdown

5) The Hours -

[/b]

6) Carl Sagan ft. Stephen Hawkings (you heard me) -

[/b]

7) Dj Krush -

[/b]

8) Blue Scholars -

[/b]

9) Anamanaguchi -

[/b]

10) m-flo -

[/b]

11) City and Colour -

[/b]

12) Frou Frou -

13) Miles Davis - 'Round Midnight

14) Dave Matthew's Band -

15) Amy Winehouse -

It doesn't help that most (see: all) of my friends are exclusively in to metal, or hard rock, no exceptions. I don't exactly have many/any friends who have such an eclectic music variety.
