Balmung not accepting new characters?

So I finally got XIV, and while I will be maining with my friends toons on Odin I want to make an alt on Balmung, but as of this time of writing it is not accepting new characters? An odd mechanic, how does it work exactly? When will it be available again?

I ran into the same problem when I first made a character, the servers usually get full in the evenings and for whatever reason Square tends to put a stop to making new characters. But all is not lost! Typically on weekday mornings they open character creation back up, at least from my experience, so if you can keep an eye on it until the morning hours you should be able to make your character without a problem!

Ah, sweet. That'll be around mid-day for me (UK), thanks for the tip, was worried I'd have to wait a few days or even weeks! Has happened before in older MMO's.

FYI, they review the character creation restrictions about once every 5 hours at minimum, so if you find you can't get in immediately, you can always try again later. Balmung creation is, as Siha noted, usually open during weekday mornings and also often very late at night.

Keep trying at 3:00 a.m./ 7:00 a.m./ 12:00p.m./ 5:00 p.m./ 10:00 p.m. (PST), thats when they update the status' on that page.

I know dem' feels. Like everyone stated, just wake up early as hell and create your toon. Worked for me.
