DreamedReality Posted November 2, 2014 Share #1 Posted November 2, 2014 We all know Eorzea is a harsh and dangerous world. Below is a prompt for each starting zone. Choose at least one and say how your character would get out of such a situation. An IC write-up or an OOC accounting is fine. 1. You decide to make a trip to the Mist but don't have aetheryte travel as an option. You decide to take the shorter route through the La Thagran Checkpoint despite the rumors of kobolds making themselves an issue in the cave pass. Well bad luck for you! You round the corner and hear their beastly chatter, arguing over a earth crystal. Your toe stubs on a rock in the poor light and echos through the passage. You've been discovered! 2. You're making your way to the Coffer and Coffin, in want for a slightly different watering hole than the Quicksand. Things are going well despite the unrelenting sun. That is until you round the corner of a rocky protrusion and find yourself face to beak with an axebeak. Immediately you can tell it's very aggravated and a quick glance around shows you'd accidentally stepped between a mother and it's young. Oops. 3. You're out and about in the Shroud and you'd been navigating the tangle of trees for several bells as you slowly make your way back to Gridania proper. You pause to sit among the roots of a tree and rest a few minutes when the roots suddenly start to shift and move! Looks like you've woken up a cranky and aether-crazed treant. Uh oh. Link to comment

Immediately you can tell it's very aggravated and a quick glance around shows you'd accidentally stepped between a mother and it's young. Oops. Chichimi looked between mother and young, hesitating. That was all the time the mother needed to swing down her head upon the tiny lalafell woman. Chichimi let out an ear-piercing shriek as she started running toward the Coffer as fast as her little legs would carry her. Someone there had to help, or maybe the axebeak gave up after she ran away. Either way, she felt comforted as she rushed into the building and slammed the door behind her. She turned to rest her back against the door, panting as she tried to catch her breath. Looking around, she saw some...interesting people. She started to take a seat when she saw someone she recognized. A bad someone. She ducked under an empty table, hoping the other woman didn't see her. She had to get back where it was safe. But then that axebeak... She tried hard not to cry as she slipped outside unnoticed and tried to make her way back to Ul'dah. 1 Link to comment

Hopefully she will not stray far from her chick! 3) Turn around and run away as quickly as possible! Treants are notoriously slow to rouse, maybe you can get away before it calls for friends! 2 Link to comment
Jazz Egi Posted November 6, 2014 Share #4 Posted November 6, 2014 Travel the world, they said. See the sights, smell the roses. I knew there would be trouble but did THEY listen? Of course not! I trudge through a cool, mildew-scented tunnel with untold dangers ahead of me. The omnichromatic glow of arcanima emanating from my grimoire is the only thing separating me from the sun-starved murk. In layman's terms, It's blacker than a duskwight with a sun-tan and I can't see shite but for a few yalms ahead. Smell the roses. Bah! It's La Noscea! The roses want to kill you, and unlike the bandits they aren't even motivated by sensible economics and work ethic. Stupid landtraps, stupid salt air, stupid cave, stupid kobolds-- In my vehement ramblings I had somehow strolled right into the kobold dig I was explicitly warned to avoid. Kobolds... Eugh. Disgusting creatures. With their beady eyes and their crooked teeth and their goofy, hunchback posture... Yuck! "You, overdweller! Why you say such hurtful things? Why you come here?" I gulp audibly. I had switched thinking with talking again. "Does overdweller realize she is looking at self in puddle reflection?" "She does have bad teeth! Haha!" My pride is wounded, and judging by the drawn pickaxes they do not intend to leave it at that. I appear to be surrounded, so the only option is diplomacy... I take a deep breath... "Come no closer, knaves! It is I, The Warrior of Light! Cringe before my Titan-felling might!" "No you aren't! Warrior of Light is taller!" "Scarier!" "Does not shiver and shake!" "Is much prettier!" In my panic I let it slide, but the kobolds are closing in! One more thing to try... "There's strong mineralogical evidence of gold-bearing quartz along your eastern dig! I recommend explosives!" The press of tiny, rat-like bodies halts. The cave is dark and cold but I sweat profusely nonetheless. They begin to chitter amongst themselves... A helmetted, armored kobold steps ahead of the encircling mob. Has to be a foreman, he looks more important. "Ha! Your amateurish stunt cannot work on us!" His pick raises menacingly, this is not how I expected to die. "Did she say gold?" I wanted to die in a hectic siege. "Can't use explosives, too fragile." Or a lab fire. "Too valuable? Time is money! Money is crystals!" I close my eyes and wait for death. "Foolish! Must take care with gold!" Still waiting. "Dumb! Must extract before Limsans come!" Waiiiiting. "Idiot bedesman!" "Stupid linesman!" A lantern flies past my head, striking the foreman. A melee ensues. I flee in the most respectable, tactically sound fashion possible until I grow winded from crying and sprinting simultaneously. The sound of self-contained civil war echoes behind me as I exit the tunnel. Fools. The avarice of kobolds would be their downfall. I hurry onward to Mist, eager to sell my wares. Good potions sell almost five percent higher than back in Ul'dah. (Posted on mobile. Sorry for awful formatting.) 2 Link to comment
