Nestled on the shores of the lake in the Lavender Beds is a newly erected building that has seen quite a bit of foot traffic over the last several suns. Most prominent among them is a woman, starlight pale and garbed in red, who seems in every appearance to be guiding the strong-backed laborers and gardeners in their work. The placard, erected after the departure of the officials, bears the following words in a flowing script: “Red Lantern Bordello.” The workers now gone, the red-garbed woman seems alone - save for the shadows that slip in at night to find shelter and rest before leaving again. Ever do they come with hunched shoulders and hungry eyes, and always do they leave with lightness in their steps, their clothes and bodies washed, their hunger eased. Of late, a scattering of flyers has been seen in the city states, the gilded script of the Bordello announcing the hiring of staff as much as it holds the doors open for those who have little to nothing, offering a place of refuge in exchange for easy tasks to help the upkeep of the small building. The announcement reads as follows: “The Red Lantern Society is hiring companions of all race and genders, security of all ranges, and housing staff of all skills. We offer warm meals, comfortable lodging, and fair pay for skills-based work.
