  1. Thank you so much for your very in-depth replies (and so quickly!). I'm just at the beginning stages of character development, so getting those points straight will be a tremendous help. I really want to do the 100 Questions challenge. I've never done anything like that before and I think it'll really help me know who my character is! For example, I'm not sure yet how she ends up at the battle, because I'm not sure yet how she sees herself. She may be an adventurer, but I'm not sure she actually considers herself one... So much to think about and pull together. Thank goodness we have a few weeks to sort it all out! Thanks so much for your input! ~ Ami
  2. Thank you all ever so much! I've posted in bunches of forums before, but for some reason, that Spoiler tag threw me for a loop! Thanks! ~ Ami
  3. In trying to work up a brief outline of my first character, I'm having difficulty figuring out some rather basic questions: How did she get (t)here in the opening scene? And how does she know what she knows? I know that, at the end of 1.0, there was a Calamity and that many people entered some sort of stasis/were thrown 5 years into the future. I'm assuming that covers all the 1.0 players. I'm also assuming that all 1.0 players who were online on the day the game closed were in the battle. My next question is, did the Calamity affect everyone in Eorzea, soldiers and civilians alike? Was everyone thrown into the future? I get the impression that the Calamity inflicted everyone in Eorzea with some sort of group amnesia. That includes my character. If I understand this correctly...
  4. How do I use the Spoiler tag, please? I wrote up a post, inadvertently clicked on the Spoiler tag icon and now I have Spoiler boxes where I don't want (or need) them. I saved the post to Drafts, so as soon as I learn how to use Spoilers, (and get rid of unneeded ones), I'll be ready to go! Thanks for any guidance! ~ Ami
  5. Hi there! Not sure exactly how I found this group, but I'm ever so glad I did. I've spent the last week or so poking about the site and, at every turn, I find something new to like! Fantastic! As for me, I've always enjoyed gaming of all sorts and theatre, especially improv. RPing in MMOs gives me the opportunity to combine them. Definitely a win in my book! It's funny -- when I first started EQ (my first MMO), I didn't start with the intention of "roleplaying". I just needed a way to justify to myself why my character found herself where she did at the beginning of the game. She was on a beach at night underneath a boardwalk. Since it wasn't really ever explained (she literally just popped up there), trying to figure out why added a wonderful dimension to playing, one that I've used in so many games ever since (even in many single-player games). Anyway, I'm looking forward to creating and living XIV stories with all of you, here and in game. I'll be spending the next few weeks trying to understand lore as well as fleshing out who my character(s) will be and how they will fit into the world. Thanks for letting me join you!
