  1. Thank you so much! - I wasn't sure if that was the way to go. Sad to hear that NA and EU are split, and that I can't get to RP with you, as a Balmung player -.-, you're awesome. It sounds like Omega is less active than Mateus, is that true? I'm in the EU, but I switch my sleeping schedule a lot, so if one is much more active than the other, I might be inclined. But this is awesome! - Will do!
  2. So is Balmung like that one server that is the place to be, but it's too bad for new folk? - I mean I suppose it's realistic. I've looked through the FC stuff I could find in the forums and things like that, and to me at least, it's gonna take a little while to sort things out, and get through it all -.- That being said; how troublesome would it be to headhunt folk? A playstyle I deeply enjoyed, and one that made the whole mess of being a new player, quite a lot simpler, was that of being tutored or an apprentice. Particularly in a field that has a lot of 'everyone could use that' like a medic or a guard. Or even something like being a servant. Of course, it's a two-way job, but experience tells me that most find it quite fun! Do you know if there's a more efficient way to find either records of people doing said jobs? FCs or Linkshells that generally work with a 'learning' character (I don't like playing a complete scholar on a first try tho -.-) - or maybe anyone's heard of someone that OOC'ly or IC'ly is looking for a student? Or could perhaps enjoy it. I get if this is maybe a pretty tall order - it's just that I rarely jump into anything like trying out a massive RPG game and RP'ing like crazy, without some sort of confidant that might enjoy me being 'stupid' or unknowing for some time? It is also because I've found that established characters know and explore cooler things, than a newcomer to an area (which makes a lot of sense). Getting piggybacked is a logical reason for a character to participate in things, which is something I'm really into. I hate when characters suddenly 'show up' to events without any connective reason to, like friends or such. I do, however, intend to insert myself fully as a character that is a newcomer to a general hub, as to enjoy exploration doubly. - I don't want to play an established relation with anyone though, like a sibling; that might feel sort of unnatural. A simple yes or no is always good enough for me, but if you've got info for me to start with, I'd be more than overjoyed.
  3. Wow, thanks for the super fast response! Already liking it so far! - Also, the quote thing here is probably misused, but it's super cool! I think what I mean is (I mean what I mean -.-) that I really like being able to interact with other realms of play seamlessly - or to say it in another way, I'm into my chars having friends, enemies and acquaintances from all walks of life, and the room to interact with them, without an OOC boundary. (IC, I'm not gonna barge in to anything, but I'd theoretically like to have the possibility to do so, if it made sense ) Are you saying that the Questline is defining of the gameplay? What groups are you in? Is magic relatively feared? I mean I'd be. Also, what kind of character do you recommend for a first time player? A- Aren't Miqo'te as a race supposed to be relatively recluse? Is RP Eorzea like the High Magic equivalent to Finland? I mean, I don't mind if you've got your big ol' magics, your summons, your spectral steeds (I have no idea whats in here, but I'm thinking in High Magic terms), your glowing swords and what not - I mean I played in SWTOR. I'm just more concerned with whether there is a logical realism to things like being hurt, physical pain, that fire hurts in most cases. Or are everyone expected to be as stacked as an OOC character? Wait, if I have to buy all that... That's like... How much? + the monthly subscription? Even after that, do I need to level all the way to max, and have done most raids or whatnot to be viable for most RP? Once again, thanks for the super fast reply!!
  4. Hello there, hello all! A little about me: I'm a vet from ESOEU, from a long time back. I took a break that ended up being indefinite, and for the longest time, I thought RP would forever be just a cherished phase of my life. But recently, my interest has peaked again. I don't feel like joining ESO again, for multiple reasons, mainly being that I am a different person to some extent. I scoured Reddit for good MMOs for RP'ing, and there was a resounding praise of FFXIV, so I thought I might as well check it out. - But wait! I have to figure out if this is even a thing for me and if I'm a thing for this seemingly (first hand impression, I gotta say I'm super impressed) community! So I think, perhaps I'd first get the basics out the way? Don't mind if I do (please?) I've absolutely NO clue about FFXIV. I'm so far away from the Final Fantasy universe, that I guess my only real connection with FFXIV, is that I worked for a short while as a 3D-aidé for IO-Interactive (the guys who make Hitman) - which I think got bought out by Square Enix? My RP'ing reins are pretty dusty, and so might my style be. I'm into semi-realism, relatively melodramatic, gritty, free-moving, multistyled RP. Essentially, I'm used to play in a world where you'd theoretically choose as many layers of the world as you'd want, including Crime, Nobility, Proletariat, Adventure, Heroics, War, Scholarwork - and with most of it making sense interlogically - ie. it being connected, and seeming grounded. I absolutely adored that about ESO, and other communities (SWTOR and GW2) didn't really sport that. I also love both sides of the spectrum, the wonderful stills of average life, like a tired evening at an open tavern after a grand event, or the brittle, if not frail tenderness in dealing with the deeper emotional troubles of a noble or criminal's life - behind closed doors. On the other hand, I also love heroics, the madness of a competition, where characters' skills shine, and show eachother their style - and of course, taking down a big monster, rescuing an ally from a group of criminals, or solving an arcano-mechanical mystery! I'm not really the most fit-for-style nerd, and real life can sometimes take a toll on my gametime, with things like my studies, diminishing family and the endless struggle of maintaining good friendships. I'm still quite nerdy. I rant about film-making, study philosophy, most of my friends are scientists/to-be scientists (Hey! I'm young) and I play D&D. That about covers me, now the real iffy, is that before I get too excited about the game, and then do something reckless, I'd like to know if this is something this community holds to some extent. I'm openminded though! My style is not a requirement, it's just what I'm used to, and what I've found I enjoy. I'm also a complete newbie. And nothing makes complete sense to me here, so I'm really intruiged how things work. Like the minutia - Which server should I join? How do RP Guilds work? (They're called Linkshells, right?), what are Free Companies? Does Tavern RP exist? Which 'Guilds' host what? Are some races considered Gimmick races? How extremely high magic is the world? Do I need to level to max? Do I need to buy the Stormblood expansion? Should I revere those Warriors of Light folk, I've noticed? How much Lore do I gotta know? Is swearing banned? Does ERP (*shivers*) exist? How's the normal style of Emote-to-Talk ratio? Do community events even occur? Are ingame skills referenced IC (like spells)? Are classes even referenced IC? Can I go against my char style IC? Is White magic always good? Do Miqo'te have wares if I am willing to buy? Is there a mega inside-joke all should know? Are memes a thing? D'you like jazz? How do mages work (I hear the term White and Black a lot, and is it as straightforward as it seems? - Do they study), is crime even a thing? Are Humans OP? And do Non-RP'ers hate RP'ers? I'm SO intruiged and excited to hear about this community! - Hope I'm not too troublesome. Kind regards, Darke (I had an old SquareEnix account named that, but I forgot the password and security question)
