Hey everyone, I had no problem while playing Phase 3 at all, even with a slow internet connection everything was crisp and I think I only lagged once on a really clogged area. Today I've been playing but keep getting Sent 0 Received X or the other way around, and eventually disconnect with Error 90000. It is a different location from where I played last time, and the ISP and everything is different. I read around and some people say that it may be the ISP blocking the game somehow. I don't understand anything about ports, or configs or that kind of stuff, so I was wondering if someone could help me out. When I am able to play, everything has an extra 3 seconds of delay or I get stuck on dialogs for around 10 minutes, so it is -very- frustrating to play at all. Could anyone give me a hand? Thanks in advance.

I saw you laughing around Old Gridania

From what I've seen they take around 15-30 min to fix downtime, but it depends. Maybe they closed them to distribute people around servers more evenly.

The Beta test starts around 11:00 on my timezone, so my supplies are breakfast components at the moment. Tonight I'll treat myself to some Monster and some snacks to carry on :bouncy:

With a crowd around the scene, VIII was surprised when he got close and didn't see the Miqo'te. Suddently, he felt something on his sleeve. A piece of the Weaver's Guild with an arm going out of it was tugging him. He heard some mumbling which he could not understand due to the crowd's loudness, but figured it must be a plea for help. Trying not to repeat the same scene as before with roles reversed, VIII got down and tried to lift the Miqo'te. (The Beta is closer and I can't even sleep. I'm set on Kta Vlll as the name, so see you all on Balmung!)

As he was running towards him, the Hyur tripped on his feet and dropped the girl. That was convenient, he didn't have to tackle him after all. He wasn't made for physical contact. As a crowd gathered around the man, he got close too, hoping to get some explanation. Vlll looked around to see if the other Duskwight had kept up with the chase.

(I just started myself, so don't worry. I don't mind the pause for a couple of days, it seems better if we can all add little by little. Also, don't refer to me as VLLL, it's just a way of typing Eight. VIII or Eight are okay, I just have to type it that way so that it looks like VIII in game ^^; ) He had guessed right, the Weaver's Guild was his destination. "Information is victory." However, Vlll still had to stop the chase without harming either the man or the Miqo'te. This was complicated since offensive magic was prohibited in all city-states. Figuring he'd figure out on the way, Vlll started runing towards the Hyur, ready to stop him in his tracks or tackle him out.

((http://www.ffxivinfo.com/images/maps/l/thanalan-combo.jpg I found this, there are 4 Aetherytes. I think you mean Black Brush Station? When I said I ported I meant inside city, but to a point ahead (like going from the Aetheryte in Weaver's Guild to The Colisseum))

Vlll kept running behind the group, trying to keep up. The look from the mysterious Duskwight confirmed something was certainly off. The pace of the Hyur, however, was quite fast for someone carrying weight, and at this rate he would manage to flee or reach a guard before being caught. He remembered one of the teachings from his mentor. "If you can't beat them, outsmart them." Taking a detour, he ran towards an Aetheryte. If he couldn't run as fast as the Hyur, he would teleport ahead of where he was running. When he appeared on a different Aetheryte, he could see the chase from ahead, but he still had to find a way to try and stop them without harming the Miqo'te.

Open Beta & Early Access, Live Letter 8 Discussion

Oh, that sounds reasonable. It seemed kind of bad to be able to do that as MRD in beta, yeah. -

Wait, so everyone can Need on items even though they're not on the job? -
Another note is Observe will also count as a step for other effects you have active, like the one that improves success for 5 steps. I managed to level Leatherworking to 16, Carpenter to 20 and Goldsmithing to 25, and also tried the rest of the crafts for 5-10 levels to see what they create and what the use. Overall I found that the Leatherworking skill (Waste Not, 53 CP - Halves the durability loss for 4 steps) is really, really good. It allows to perform harder synths since you can effectively double the times you improve progress, and also allows to put some quality on things you normally could not. I am considering taking Leather to 15 just for it. From all the guilds, at the moment I think I'll go Goldsmithing. I liked the items crafted (jewelry, headpieces, THM weapons) and the recipes in general are fairly simple.

"Whata lookin at ya wench!" Vlll had barely spent over two moons in Ul'Dah, but he wasn't used to such foul language outside of the muddy streets of Pearl Lane. He looked over the extensive lists that Serendipity had handed to him, and saw a Hyur lifting a Miqo'te while shouting profanities at a fellow Duskwight with quite an unusual face. Something about the scene seemed out of place, but he couldn't put his finger on it. Vlll moved closer to the Duskwight, his curiosity sparked (as always). "Is everything ok?" - he asked. Before getting his answer, however, the Duskwight followed the Hyur through the alleys. Something certainly was going on, and he wanted to know more. Tucking the materials list in his pocket, he followed quietly. (My first try at a story)

Summoners are DoT classes, Scholar are Healing over Time. They both branch out from Arcanist, but still we don't really know how they will play. All the races have similar stats, the differences are very small, so pick the race for the looks and the class for the playstyle. Overall, it seems you might like Lancer (Dragoon). Their armour looks great, they learn some Jump moves and their DPS is great. The good (or bad) thing is that you'll probably need to level some crossclasses to get skills useful to your main (for example, Archer gets some good crit skills that Lancer can benefit from), so you'll end up trying lots of them. Welcome, I joined two days ago, so it's good to see other new people. Hope to have a good time!

EDIT: I derped so hard, I thought we were talking about job dispersion in players, not in lore. My bad.

Yes, it's VLLL, there are few numbers you can put that way. Had to get creative When faced with the /tells I'll have to explain it, I guess it will cause some headaches.
-
I guess it would be similar to a nickname. I'll just set it as Code Vlll in game and then explain it when needed. Thanks for the input!

(How would go about adding to it? Newbie question)

Does your broccoli bring all the boys to the yard?

Yeah, I have in mind something like a "self given" name (don't know the word in english, it's not my first language) to hide his identity. Maybe I'll shorten it to Code Vllll or something. He's going to be some kind of tactical genious, similar to SCH in FFXI, but giving him a military rank doesn't sound right. Better if I can develop a story and reach that point afterwards.

(I'm still deciding things about my character, so I try not to be a lot IC yet Taking the "listen before speaking" seriously)

Vlll here. Still don't know how to call him with 2 names. Codename Vlll? Agent Vllll? Commander Vlll?
