Karlara Marx

Originally named Kyrah Marx-Oronir by her parents Selaphoux Marx & Yal-un Oronir, Karlara Marx is a mixed Oronir Xaela / Elezen who grew up in The Brume under the care of Fray, Sidurgu and their master after her father was murdered by Temple Knights & her mother had to immediately flee the country due to prosecution.

Selaphoux Marx was a lowly priest & missionary for the Ishgardian Orthodox Church who was in the middle of a mission when he came across a young Xaela woman lying in the snow. It was Yal-un Oronir, an ex-Oronir warrior (now a wandering mercenary) who had been badly wounded in the Coerthas Highlands. He decided to cover her in his robes and hide her in his humble home until she recovered, but ended up falling in love with her, which would certainly mean bad news for him, both as an Elezen & Halonic priest.

When the Ishgardian Orthodox Church learned of his forbidden romance with the woman of Dravanian aspect, they raided his home in search for her, and while she managed to escape through the coal shute in the basement just in time to leave Karlara in the care of her only friend in The Brume and take flight, Selaphoux didn't have the same luck and was massacred by the Temple Knights for heresy. 

Karlara spent the next 15 years training alongside Fray & Sidurgu and swore to  bring real justice to the nation who had been so cruel to her  and every other immigrant, Sidurgu's family included. When Fray passed at the young age of 25, overpowered by Temple Knights as well, Karlara clung to Sidurgu to complete her Dark Knight training once and for all in order to finally avenge her loved ones. Together, they embarked on a journey of vengeance and self-discovery that would -after so many years of suffering- bring them & Rielle the peace of mind they were denied as kids.
