  1. Ahhh, shit. There goes that. I can't reroll what guardian I chose either, can I? I really enjoy Ishgardian and Dragoon lore and the Order seems to prefer trainees among the Higher Nobility. Moreover, they're the only ones that can afford the armor, which is incredibly important when you're fighting dragons. I might go with the very distant relative approach because it's just what fits best and makes the most sense. Becoming a Dragoon could very well have been the only thing that kept him and his line in any way relevant. Being the best at what he does thus becomes a very good motivator. Edit: You can totes reroll your Guardian. Yay! Edit Edit: Never mind, it doesn't save properly. Screw it.
  2. While I was on Sargatanas, I made my male Elezen by way of rolling the name. I got the name 'Fortemps' and was like 'nice, that's a pretty cool name' and I just rolled with it. Only upon transferring to Balmung did it hit me that Fortemps is one of the four big houses of Ishgard, and now I feel like a bit of a moron. I REALLY don't want to pay for a rename and remaking the character is border-line impossible but I have a phial I can use to change physical appearance. Will that allow me to change his name too, or not? If not, then is it a huge deal? I'm not interested in pulling rank on anybody and I would probably just make him some kind of distant second cousin (or whatever) that married down and in essence screwed himself out of any hopes of being a srs bsns noble. Would that be alright? I'm open to suggestions as to what I should do. I do like the name, but I don't want to passively alienate people around me.
  3. You might know Physicker Karliene from: - Ul'dah. She's the care-taker of a number of older men and women in the city and can often be seen going to and fro running errands for them! She has no time for men, or choses not to spare any. - The Quicksand (Adventurer's Guild in Ul'dah). She frequently needs adventurers to fetch her certain herbs or deliver important letters. - Frondale's Phrontistery (Apothecary Guild). She all but lives there. After all, she's a physicker! - Gridania. She visits often to stop by the Botanist's Guild and participates in a lot of bartering for local herbs and is seen frequently discussing with all forms of mender's, doctors and conjurer's there. - She's a bit of a caravan traveler and can be often seen in company of soldiers and all forms of adventurers. Those who have encountered her would know that Karliene happens to be a rather warm, light-hearted character though she is a bit of a wallflower and may or may not be mute or is simply extremely shy and seldom speaks. She's often seen with a large satchel or a basket full of herbs and flowers.
  4. Same realm! And yeah, I understand what you mean by the different class system; it's (loosely) similar to The Secret World's where you have one big wheel and can just go through the whole thing and do what you feel like doing. The rogue feel is more of a...fast-paced class no matter what MMORPG you happen to play. I do happen to main an RBG mistweaver on WoW, currently and I've previously played a warrior so I understand where you're going with the stances. Honestly, I'm not sure how much PvP I'll be involved in on FFXIV, probably not much considering I'm already going to be pushing 2.1 in RBGs with my guild group, next season. I might just go fully non-combat; it's what I did on...*shifty eyes* RuneScape; just stay LVL3 and have some maxed stats or have some weird level. We'll see how it goes, of course! Still, it's always nice to have the information readily available. I'll probably have Aaya as a fully non-combat character and have a secondary one. Ahh, always. I'm actually getting the Horde symbol tattooed in uh. Three hours and a half! I'm a bit of a hardcore Horde fan. I even support Hellscream. 100%. Though I do hope either Nazgrel, Saurfang or Eitrigg is the next Warchief!
  5. Of course! What goes around comes around. That being said, I still don't know what class to play. I'm typically rather partial to rogue-playstyle classes so I might go for a monk. I play competitive support, though, so I might go for white mage. Maybe summoner. Hnngg. Too many choices! Seeing as you ask about questions; is it possible/viable to level up solely through non-combat aspects of the game (DoL and DoH)?
  6. After spending several years on WoW and other MMOs, a couple of friends (a coincidence, I had no idea!) and I have decided to pick up FFXIV. Considering that I'm a medium level competitive gamer and the PVP season 13 on WoW is coming to a close only in...one month, I have little to do until then but grind for the Rival title on my battlegroup and Vanquisher on ATR. That being said, this is where my new niche shall be whilst I'm not PVPing on WoW or doing other things there I like to put off doing. I look forward to playing the game (and roleplaying, of course!) with all of you. Likely is it that I'll be rolling over on Balmung, where my other friends have decided to make their nice. Have a moogle! :moogle:
  7. A couple of friends of mine are picking up/have already picked up FFXIV and I had been thinking about a merchanting guild (Something of an IC auction house) that would be run inside of either the guild house or as a weekly event in one of the cities. Roughly, for those of you familiar, it would be something along the lines of the .hack guild TaN (Trust and Nimble). We would also have a small salvage/adventuring group sent out for game-mastered/dungeon-mastered events. I've read some posts about there being no /roll system currently implemented but I imagine that if none is implemented, I trust that someone will create an add-on for it before long. It would be a pretty heavy-RP guild, all things considered. Minor PvE content may or may not be run IC (nothing with a huge lore impact will be downed, no kills claimed beyond "monster x in zone x"). I was wondering what you guys think about a guild like that. I've already started lining up a Dunesfolk Lalafell character for the occasion.
