    Hello!

Hello! Yes, you definitely can play cross platform, as both consoles and PCs are on the same servers. The controller UI is amazing!
  2. I feel chocolate cake is overrated. Glad I was able to get that off my chest! Welcome to the community!
  3. I would drop everything if Time Mage was made available. The amount of control those guys possessed was incredible. Mime would also be really fun too. It would be a pretty awesome mechanic if you could mimic the abilities of the people in your party, or obtain abilities that had been used against you in a given encounter. As far as another healer goes, I would love to see chemist. It could be one of the first jobs to use a disciple of magic (conjurer) and disciple of the hand (alchemist) as its pre-req classes.
  4. I am a huge advocate of self designed tattoos. That being said I understand not everyone is artistic, and thus having work designed by someone else is often more favorable. In your case though, I don't think you should have anyone else design, or even give initial input on your tattoo. This mark will be with you for the rest of your life. The rest of your existence on this planet will be marked with what you decide to put on your body. Given the importance of this tattoo to you, the marking of a life changing event, its conception and design should come solely from you because, ultimately, it is your reminder to yourself. It does not have to be fancy, have an enormous amount of detail, be in color, or even make any sense to anyone. What is important is that, when YOU see it, you are reminded of what it represents. My tattoo artist has a small black dot on the back of his hand, at the base of his thumb. This dot represents his son that died at a very young age. He will see this dot every time he is writing, or drawing, or anything. The fact that it is such a tiny dot forces him to remember his son. The way he looked, the way he laughed, the way he smiled. Anything more detailed would have drawn away from the purpose of that tattoo: to remember. Take "what will look good" out of the equation. Instead, think "what will help me remember vividly this event." Whatever that happens to be, no matter how small, that is what you should get. Knowing that it came from deep inside your soul will make it beautiful. No amount of detail or color or work from the best tattoo artists in the country can make that tattoo more beautiful than the memories of what it represents.
  5. I used to have piercings, but they kept getting caught on various articles of clothing so I took all of them out. As for tattoos, I have quite a few. All my tattoos are of my own design and/or composition. My right arm is fully sleeved, I have a very large memorial piece on my left side. It goes from just under my left nipple to under my left shoulderblade. Then I have a colored piece on my upper back. The sleeve is black and grey. The one on my side in just line work. Since it is a memorial piece, I wanted it to remain unfinished. Luckily I work in the Film VFX industry, so nobody gives a damn what I look like.
  6. I'm sure that somewhere out there, there exists a character that somehow has 150% genetic inheritance because screw biology. Welcome to the community!
  7. Oh how I wish professional table top gamer was a legitimate career path. Welcome to the community!

  9. If you participated in any of the other betas, you just log in to your account like normal. If you have not, I believe tomorrow you can go here EDITED WITH UPDATED LINK: http://entry.ffxiv.com/beta_regist/na and click the link at the bottom that says Proceed to the beta test application site. The site is closed right now, but says it will open when beta 4 officially starts (tomorrow). You should be able to sign up there to gain access.
  10. I think this calls for a race! Ready? Go! S I I F T :chocobo:I I I A I I N R I:cactuar: I S T I I H Aaaaaaand they're off! Cactuar is off to an early lead, but will he be able to keep up his pace? Chocobos are known for their stamina, but will it pay off in such a short race? Who will prevail in this battle of the titans?
  11. Hello everyone! I have been lurking around here for a while, but I figure it is time to make a post and introduce myself! I am new to FFXIV, and will be playing on the Balmung server. --MMORPG background I have been playing MMOs since as long as I can remember. My very first MMO was Lineage, followed by Lineage 2. From there, it was a pretty large snowball effect into what I would play. I played WoW for years, as well as stints on Eve online, Age of Conan, Rift, Warhammer, Aion, Tera, and Guild Wars 1 and 2 (Tarnished Coast is the best coast!). As far as RP is concerned, I only RPed in GW2, as I had not found a good RP community in any of the other games. --RP experience From a video game standpoint, GW2 is the only game I officially RPed in. Although I have a large RP background in D&D, and other tabletop games. --Character ideas/info The main character I am going to be playing is named Flapjack Sassafras. He is a Hyur Midlander Scholar. I want to take a very different approach in with this character than I normally would. Flapjack is one of those characters that prefers to be in the world, but not of it. He has set out in search of greater knowledge of the sciences. He views magic as a misunderstood product of science, and seeks to unlock its intricacies. He acknowledges that magic exists, but feels it is mislabeled, and its true potential has yet to be unlocked though the knowledge of not only how it works, but WHY it works. Personally, I do not like to write a novel of a back-story for a character. I like to give him a purpose, a goal in the world, and see where it takes him. My characters are not the protagonists in their own story, but a product of the world in which they live. I allow them to adapt, adjust, and change. They are not on a railroad to success. They are not exempt from the downfalls of humanity (for lack of a better term. They are susceptible to greed, hatred, anger, and corruption. I like letting the people my characters interact with shape how they change, and the experiences they have determine the course of their personality. I am VERY excited to see how this world effects Flapjack, and how he grows and changes from his current state of mind. Oh, and as for his name, yes, it is ridiculous. But there is a purpose for it! If you want to know, hopefully we meet in game and you can ask him about it! --How did you learn about the coalition? The all powerful Google. Searching "FFXIV roleplaying" was pretty simple. --What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy? This largely depends on the community I am involved in. I love all kinds! --Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc) I don't really take myself too seriously. I love finding out new things about people, and listening to other people's opinions on things. I wish I could type more, but I am late for my lunch break. I hope to talk to you all soon! :cactuar: <---- P.S. Just noticed this guy on the emoticon list. How cool is that? I few years ago the fact that you could make a smiley face graphic on the computer was out of this world. Now look at what we can do. Look at that guy go. That is one badass cactuar. You run little green cactuar man. You run and never look back.
