  1. Thank you for the link to the chat option! I have this problem also - although I swear I clicked the right option, and it still created a second service account - and I'm now unable to even play since the Early Access extension time is over. What's more, with the new character creation lock-outs, I'm unable to even play on the "new" account on NA servers. And really, what's the point of playing if A.) any progress I made will probably be deleted when the "accidental" account is deleted, and B.) I can't even participate in the roleplay community, when that's half the reason I got the game? /sulk I miss Gilgamesh already. I need miqo'te hugs.
  2. *glomps Arcos and attempts to drag him away* *does not seem to realize Lalafell are not built to drag away taller peoples* >_>
  3. Rock: Thank you! I have some roleplayer friends also migrating over from WoW, who may be interested as well - I will prompt them over this way! Noire: Thank you! But, you do realize, Tala is REALLY short? Even for a Lalafell? Getting into her pockets might require either Morelle laying flat on the ground under a pile of leaves, or Tala standing on a stepladder... ()
  4. Thank you for the welcome Desmond! Looking forward to meeting you soon!
  5. Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself. Talathar, at your service. *bow* --MMORPG Background - Asheron's Call, Final Fantasy XI, World of Warcraft, Lord of the Rings Online, Star Wars: The Old Republic --RP Experience - I started out roleplaying over 20 years ago, with tabletop games, including 2nd Edition Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, RuneQuest, and 3rd Ed D&D. From there I took part in a online community of writers and roleplayers, who roleplayed both on their forums and a IRC channel. I played a tarutaru WHM named Talathar in FFXI, on Seraph. Although FFXI was not my first MMORPG, it is the first where I was very proactive with my roleplay - and it was a wonderful experience. In fact, I have used the name "Talathar" ever since. In WoW, I was on the Feathermoon server (although not as Talathar, as she didn't really fit in Azeroth because gnomes were not cute enough), and within my first few weeks was lucky enough join a great roleplay community there. --Character Ideas / Info - Talathar Khalynn is a young Lalafell, and was unlucky enough to find herself orphaned at age 12, after the war 5 years ago. Tala and a few other unlucky youngsters were taken in by a fiercely protective Hyur woman named Khalynn. Now 17, she has taken the woman's name as a surname, and aspires to be like her foster mother - a strong protector of those who cannot protect themselves. --How did you learn about the coalition? - A friend and fellow roleplayer from World of Warcraft pointed out the Coalition to me. --What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy? - I suppose I would be considered a medium level roleplayer. I don't particularly care to be the center of attention, so I don't bring personal story arcs into the game. However, I do try to stay in character, and keep true to the character as much as possible. --About me - Um, I'm old? I sometimes write a bit of fanfiction. And I promise not to resurrect the tarutaru accent in-game. ()y Thank you for your time! I hope to find a good home here!
  6. I. Basic Info Characters: Talathar Khalynn Primary character: Talathar Khalynn Linkshells: The Brat Brigade, Coalition OOC, Coalition OOC1, Driftwood Coast, Frost Tribe, Limitless Sky Primary RP linkshell: Not Yet Determined II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium. Leaning towards casual in that I tend to prefer being a support character, and not take the stage myself in spanning story arcs. However, in Final Fantasy XI, my tarutaru WHM was always in-character, even in mixed parties. (I've mellowed out a bit with age, and promise not to traumatize anyone with the tarutaru accent anymore. ) . Views on RP combat and injuries: Because of my lack of PvP skills, RP combat incorporating game mechanics would most likely lead to my Lalafell lying face-first in the dirt. For text-based RP combat, it would depend on the situation. I have taken part in text-based RP before, and tend to follow the formula that you can attempt an attack on another player, but allow that player to decide whether or not your attack connects or not. Generally, my characters tend to be defenders, protectors, and healers, which limit the types of scenarios that would find them confronting a problem with weapons drawn. Words first, and swords only if diplomacy fails. I do not have a problem with my characters bearing the scars of past battles, should the situation call for it. . Views on IC romance: I'm not adverse to IC romance - provided someone can get through Tala's rather thick skull on the subject. Because of her past, she's been rather sheltered in life and has never been in a romantic relationship. She has not ever felt romantic love or desire, and doesn't seem to have much interest. She's fine with others around her coupling up, or enjoying company between the sheets, and is sometimes secretly amused by all the shenanigans. However, she's completely oblivious to any kind of romantic attention directed to herself. Totally, 100% clueless. She doesn't (yet) see the point of it all, and secretly thinks it's not worth all the hassle and emotional entanglements. So far, she's content to watch the game from a distance. . Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): I have no problems with having family ties or friendships IC'ly between different characters, so long as it's something all parties involved consent to, and it makes sense. Currently, Tala has two adopted sisters - the miqo-te M'yrissa Tahl, and the roegadyn Korynna Tahl. . Views on lore: As a newbie to FFXIV, I'm not too clear on the lore yet. I tend to try to keep to the native lore as much as possible, and fit my character into it as best I can. . Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): Normally, I assume /say is always IC, and view /whisper as OOC. For /linkshell, it would depend on that particular linkshell. If it is a casual LS meant for OOC chatter, I would not force RP on the channel. If it is a RP LS, then I would try to keep IC as much as possible, and any OOC chat would be marked by the standard double parenthesis. The same goes for /party - if the party is primarily RP, I would try to stay IC as much as possible. However, if the party agrees to be OOC, then I would respect that as well. III.
