  1. Thanks for all this information. I am getting a sense of just how I need to approach this situation. Especially all the lore excerpts, its helping me form the background and reasoning of this character.
  2. So i have this idea of a voidhunter, who spends his/her time hunting down voidsent and voidtouched. So I have a few questions as the information is scant; first off can it be purged without actually killing someone who was voidtouched for instance. Secondly, is that a feasible "occupation" lorewise? I am still working on the backstory, but if the very base idea is not workable, then it isn't worth it. Basic backstory I am working on goes something along the lines of a wife/husband became voidtouched, and my character slowly watched this person disintegrate until they were completely lost and had to be killed. This grief and sadness fuels my character to find and "help" these tainted souls or end the existence of these dark creatures. for a bare bones, does that work lorewise? any help would be appreciated.
  3. So first, hi, and i'm glad I managed to stumble upon this place. I have been playing FFXIV since 1.0 beta, quit for a few months, then came back. I have been Roleplaying for over 20 years now (wow) since yahoo chat in places like Ayenee, Everquest etc. I love to RP and find it relaxing and fun to read the simple day in the life stories or the epic stories of love and loss, triumph or failure. it's all fun to me. I hope to contribute to the RP community as a whole ( I used to RP but it was mostly private with a few friends) and I figure this is the best place to get acquainted with the community. So again thanks for having me and I look forward to RPing with you!
  4. Hmm I just updated it... Perhaps I did it wrong. Well yes in game you can look for Elspath, she's ALWAYS on, or Valia Londshadow, Averne, Sivamet, Kailisto Nadare. Any of these people can give you an invite. I'd begin with Elspath then go to Valia if she for some strange reason is not on. And no we RP and are active as a Linkshell and becoming active as a Free company. The Linkshell is the tavern, as such we are in a position to have many people join it who just wish to rp in a tavern and inn environment with a small twist heh.
  5. Yes both are not as active as they need to be, because I do not enforce any rules of necessity to post on the forums. For me, the forums are a place to go to, to help expand your in game stories, or write stories you don't deem need to happen in game or expand on something already going on. As such some days it'll get used, some days it won't BUT I can say our linkshell has a nice number of people who are active, helpful and roleplaying.
  6. With the server issues happening it will be tough to find me and others, but rest assured we are out there looking to give out RP linkshells to the tavern and inn to whomever wishes to have one. Also look for Elspath, she is always on as well, or Sivamet Kedin
  7. Yes heh I figure everyone will need a week or two to get used to things and do some exploration before they are ready to begin roleplaying in earnest. But in case anyone isn't we'll be roleplaying from day one.
  8. Yes we will have big locations, we'll give it a good week so people can get acquainted.
  9. I am so glad to see people interested in the roleplay in the tavern! We will hand out link pearls to anyone who is interested in roleplaying in a tavern environment and I will also begin a tavern thread here soon, so stay tuned!
  10. Well that's the best thing about a LS and free company. So anyone who wants to just hang in the tavern is MORE than welcome to to get Linkshell invite, I'll be handing those pearls out to all roleplayers and it'll be an active linkshell. And yes a cook would be great! As would strange mages wandering in and out lol
  11. Ha come on by mages, yes the core group is definitely looking for member BUT it is a tavern, and as such the linkshell will be available for anyone who wants to roleplay.
  12. (ooh very, VERY good story, i enjoy it very much keep it coming!)
  13. You come out of the forest into a grassy clearing where the grass grew high around what was a seemingly vacant building. It appeared as if nature had slowly began to reclaim it from those who once occupied it; from the vines which grew all along the building, to the cobwebs in the windows and doorways, but there was something strange that just didn't sit right with you... There were no sounds of insects, no whistling wind or even the howling of animals, the only thing you heard were the caws of ravens which seemed to continually circle the vacant inn, as if waiting for something to return... As you approach the door you reach out to open it, but before you do it opens on it's own and revealed a dusty foyer that obviously once had been far grander. Your heart began to beat as you felt something had been watching you from the shadows of the darkened room, but upon turning to look you saw nothing but shadows... Perhaps the shadows played tricks on you? You see there are two hallways, one on each side of what obviously was some kind of inn welcome table, complete with ledger. One hallway seems far darker than the other even though there is no light in either hall. Deciding to avoid thatparticular hallway you walk down the hall on the right, and come into what was once a bar, but is now in disrepair. As you step into the room the floor creaks beneath you, and you gasp as you see a lone figure sitting at table in the far corner. Your eyes squint as you try to make out what it is, but all you can see is the outline of a cloak. Then it hits you... "Ka..Kailisto?!" The figure holds it head up and the feline eyes shine back what little light there was in the room. You gasp as you stumbled backwards completely unprepared for this. Not wasting any time you turn and run, as fast as you can. There is the door, salvation is right within reach! You grab the handle and push the door open to see the full moon now shining overhead and the ravens still circling. But something's wrong... Your body is overcome with dread and fear and you freeze in place. "Welcome to the Raven's Eye friend. I oweyou a debt of gratitude for awakening me after five years, so allow me to repay you in kind..." Your screams are allthat are left of you as the door closes sharply... Three months later.. A bustling inn and tavern, the Raven's Eye, isfilled with adventurers, soldiers, mercenaries and sages tonight, all enjoying their time relaxing and drinking, sharing stories and getting work from the bulletin. Sitting at a table in the back are two women, one in the leathers of a archer, the other in a black cloak. "Well Kai, everything seems to be back up andrunning... what are your plans now dear?" Kailisto smirked and drummed her fingers on the table, then turned her gaze to the woman. "Oh my dear Inoxia, I have many plans, The Raven's Eye seems to still hold onto its secrets, the lands themselves have been twisted, changed drastically.. so there is much to do... But for now, let us enjoy our return to this world hmm?" Inoxia nodded and would look out across the tavern to the fresh new faces and then to Kailisto as slowly, a thin grin begins to spread along her face. Welcome to the Raven's Eye Inn...
  14. So what is the Raven's Eye Inn? Good question: OOCly it is a group of roleplayers who wish to have fun with other adults in a laid back roleplaying guild which will do quests, dungeons and even raids from time to time, but first and foremost will be all about roleplaying your character in a mature (or immature if that's your character) manner. IC: There are many forces in this world, some dark, others light. But all these forces have one thing in common, they are wild, untamed and best of all waiting to be discovered. The Raven's Eye Inn and Tavern was established by Kailisto and Inoxia Nadare as a place where adventurers and mercenaries could find work, soldiers find rumors, and powerful items and scholars could gather. Kailisto herself uses her tavern to find powerful warriors, scholars, mages and tacticians who can help her discover the deep and dark magics of the land, and to help her break into and discover the power of the Raven's Eye, a relic from a long forgotten era, and to break a curse she will not share lightly. But they would not get many jobs if the general populace knew this information, so Kailisto also organizes research and exploration missions which garner the Raven's Eye a cautious yet respected reputation for getting the job done and finding information and items which do not wish to be found, or have been lost to time. So what is this “Raven's Eye” and what is this curse?Well after running many guilds, I learned something important, even seasoned Roleplayers wish to have a overreaching story, or theme running through the guild, something to feed off of, and that's what both of these are. The Raven's Eye is an ancient relic which is housed deep inside the Inn, if you wish to know more you have to roleplay heheheh. And the curse takes different forms depending on the person, so it gives you a chance to add a flaw to your character if you choose. How does your character fit in?: Another good question! Well anyway you like! You can be a normal barmaid/ mechanic or a mercenary. You can also be cursed like the tavern's main theme and looking for a way to break it, or you can be a knowledge seeker. Basically we have no restrictions. Who is the leadership? The guild leader is Kailisto Nadare and her partner Inoxia Nadare, but they play a background role to others who wish to be the face of the Inn, like Valia. There are also several officers who will introduce themselves in this thread later. Any rules? Well yes, here are the rules and regulations: So now comes the not so fun part, the rules and regulations. You'll find we do not have very many here, most are basically common sense such as no god modding, no drama ooc, and respect officers and the leader of course as well as your fellow guild mates. If you have a disagreement and can't solve it yourself, ask an officer of myself, the Guild leader. Because we are laid back and like to have fun, and we can't have fun with tons of ooc drama and stupidity. If you engage in it purposely and are a constant in causing it then we'll boot you. Fair? Fair. Also ask permission before using anyone's character in roleplay or their NPCS. It's the polite thing to do. We also expect our members to roleplay! I know it's a shocker, but actually roleplay your character in say when you can and if it makes sense. You don't HAVE to always be in character, but it helps foster roleplay if you are. And that's it! Positions? Well the cover positions are the usual positions inside of a inn and tavern such as bard, barmaid, innkeeper, maintenance and repair, stable handler, security, or if you have an idea I am more than welcome to discuss it with you! And yes we do have the “real guild” which is where the scholars and researchers, warriors and retrievers come in, if you have an idea again you can discuss it with me. Dualistic? What's that? Well simply put, I believe the Linkshell is a great communication tool to use for people who wish to visit the tavern or inn, but not join the actual guild, and that's what it will be used for. Interested? Questions? Good!Come to our website http://www.guildportal.com/Guild.aspx?GuildID=482658&TabID=4159760, or simply send me a message, Sivamet or Inoxia a message on these forums. Thanks for your time! Our Website: http://www.guildportal.com/Guild.aspx?Gu...ID=4159760 Because it wouldn't link correctly.
  15. Hello all, I am once more delving into FFXIV Roleplay now that RL is no longer interfering with me. I hope to once more get to know you all and cannot wait to begin roleplaying again.
  16. There was a feeling of strangeness in the air as the group arrived in the village. The people milled about their daily lives, children and husbands doing chores, merchants and buyers selling and bartering goods, the usual things which take place in a small village. But there was one difference, the area around this âtreeâ is completely barren, only the tree is alive there, and it seems to be thriving with its full branches, even in the winter time, and thick, strong trunk. When Miyu would begin her investigation she'd notice there was nothing strange or out of the ordinary about the tree as far as magic goes but it has a dark, eerie, almost sinister feeling about it, as if it is watching, like a predator. But other than that it seems fairly normal, as normal as a tree could be in the Twelvewood. But it was missing something which everything had in this forest, an elemental. It had none whatsoever. âSo, you must be the group sent by the Lady Kailisto,â A shaky, elderly voice said. It belonged to a elderly hyur woman with graying hair and a hunched over back. She walked with a cane and had two very large Highland Hyurs with her at her side. âI told the young welp we did not need her help, we could figure it out ourselves, but be that as it may you're here.. Welcome to our village. I am the village shaman Keah.â She said with a slight bow. She narrowed her eyes at Miyu and slammed the edge of her cane down on the ground. âYou, you have the look of a babe who just first stepped out of the forest. If you don't know what yer doin get away before it has its next victim...â she said with a sinister smile to Miyu. âWhy she'd send a novice and a gaggle of damned mercenaries is beyond me..â she grumbled and watched Miyu closely. âIgnore her, she's jus a bit cranky!â A voice said from the distance. It was another hyur, he had long black hair and a smile that melted hearts. To the experienced eye he also had the air of a adventurer about him. âName's Darius, and I plan to prove to these people it's a myth, me an me wife, a soldier in her own right will get married here, right under this tree tomorrow! Then i'll claim the reward...â He said with a smirk. The old woman frowned and slammed her cane down again. âBah, another fool for the tree, your wife's blood will feed the land along with the others.â
  17. We are temporarily closed for full recruitment. all this means is we will not be accepting people to actually work for The Raven Eye Inn. but please feel free to post on our site and interact with us in game! I'd like to thank Castiel and everyone else, this site has given us such a high turnout, far surpassing my expectations. Again for now, recruitment is closed, but we will be opening it up again in a few weeks!
  18. The room's dim light hid Kailisto's features well as Sivamet entered the room. She looked up from the papers on her desk and smiled a pearly, fanged white smile at the Elezen woman as she clasped both hands into eachother. âWell, There is the issue of the hanging tree again. It seems like another death has occurred, and i've been asked to come and do a investigation. Of course, things are not always as they seem and I actually do not have time myself to go. So, i'd like you to gather up two others, find Miyu if you can and take them to the village. Your job, as always, is to protect them, let Miyu do the investigation and then report back to me how she handles the situation. If she is not capable...â Kailisto said as the candle flickered briefly. âThen send for me, and I shall handle it myself and see to it she is punished. But do be swift... I am sure AETHER will stick their noses into this eventually.â She said. âAny questions?â
  19. The Hanging Tree... In the northern end of the Black Shroud... âOn this day, Belford, I now pronounce you husband, to Mara, your wife. May the twelve bless your new union.â The village elder said as the two Hyurs kissed to seal their union. Cheers and celebratory shouts were thrown the newly wedded couple's way as they smiled and ran off from the ceremony towards their modest home. Although many celebrated, there were a few who did not share in the ongoings. Those few stood in the back and shook their heads in disappointment. âAnother girl for the tree,â One woman said and brushed the brown hair from her face. âIndeed, when will they ever learn.â another said with a sigh. Indeed, despite the celebration, and the happiness of the situation there was a forboding overhead, as if there was something being ignored, overlooked about this joyous day.... Later that evening... âIt was quite a night, wasn't it my darling?â He said to his wife who was curled up underneath his arm. âMmmm indeed it was my love, And I am sure we'll have many more.â She said with a grin and a yawn as both curled up to go to sleep for the evening. As the sun broke the horizon and its first rays pierced the sky and fell into the window Belford rolled over and smiled. âmmm she must already be awoke, fixing breakfast I see.â He got up with a stretch and a yawn and walked from the bedroom to the kitchen, to greet his new bride, but when he arrived, there was no one. No smell of meat being cooked, dodo eggs being mixed. âMara?â he said as he furrowed his brows. He could feel the panic begin to set in, the tightening of his chest and knots in his stomach twisting and turning. âMaraâ!!?â He called out as he began to search the small home. -knock, knock, knock- He froze in place and looked towards his front door. His eyes narrowed as he got tunnel vision, focusing on the old oak that made up the door. That sound, that horrid and deathly scary sound of someone knocking at THIS moment? No... He ran to the door and slung it open. The town elder and her guard stood their, a look of sadness, depression on their faces as she put a hand on his shoulder. âI... I'm sorry Belford. Mara was found at the tree this morning...â And like that, his entire world came crashing down... Three days later, at the Raven Eye Inn. âYeah, so it happened again I hear.â One man said in a whispered tone. âmhm, another wife found hanging from that tree, no one knows a damned thing either.â The man sitting across from him replied. âTis a shame. What are the watch doin bout it though Micenn?â âWe went back to investigate, but again it's the same as usual, last thing he remembered they had ah night o passion, and then sleep. Woke up and she was missin.â Micenn replied âDamn shame it is ah damn shame. But remind me to bring my wife their next time she acts up.â âHey hey now Carlos, that's cause to arrest ya, old bastard.â Both shared a laugh as they waited for their drinks to arrive. Carissa raised an eyebrow as she wrote everything down she'd heard. âAnother mysterious death in a village, being blamed on a tree of all things? This definitely is right up Mistress Kailisto's alley.â she said and finished her notes, then folded them and slipped from behind the bar and back towards Kailisto's office. âHmm.. interesting. They were jus talking about this?â She asked. âYes ma'am.â Carissa replied. She stroked her chin in thought, then gave a nod to Carissa. âThank you. Contact Sivamet, we will plan a trip to this village immediately. Preferably before AETHER gets there.â She said and watched Carissa nod and then bow out of the room. âHmm, a Hanging Tree. Interesting indeed.â
  20. The Tavern was strangely empty at this time of night, no one was behind the bar taking orders and tossing comments back and forth with rowdy patrons. The tables, which usually had small groups around them were all empty and not filled with the usual banter and whisperings of secrets and rumors from patron to patron. No, instead it was replaced with one small candle which lit up the immediate surroundings of an old, wooden table. There was two tea cups, one on each side of the table and a small scroll which was at a neutral end of the table. Kailisto's crimson pupils and pearl white Cheshire like grin looked across the table to a figure clothed in a long white robe. âWe have gotten many new recruits over the past few days, and I have extreme confidence we'll get even more in the coming weeks. What with the flood of strange and unexplained things happening all over the world.â She said then took a sip of her tea. âYes, it seems the empire is good for business no? Providing numerous stories and myths, all for you to investigate no doubt.â the figure said. Its soft feminine voice was dark, almost foreboding even. Kailisto nodded once and took another sip of her tea then put the cup down. âWe'll find the scroll, that you have my word of, we just need more recruits. We have almost two dozen now, all with me for their own reasons, some for the adventure, others for fame, some, like me with a thirst for knowledge and even some whose reasons and motivations are not clear to me. One thing that is clear, we are all on the same page. To explore the unexplained, to help those who need an explanation of something happening.â She said, her grin spreading wider. âIndeed. That is why I am glad to have you working with me, Kailisto. We'll find those scrolls together. For now though continue your recruiting, i'll send you more funds to support several major excursions and hunts.â the figure said and stood up. It walked back into the shadows and simply faded away. Kailisto let out a sigh and drummed her fingers on the table. Her âsilent partnerâ was right, they needed more people, more bodies. âVery well, time to spread the rumors of my Tavern to Limsa Lominsa and U'ldah.â She said with a grin. âI am sure they have birds of prey in both cities.. if not, they'll have some soon enough.â She said as she continued to sip her tea with a smile.
  21. Can someone please help me learn how to add more than three people to my friendlist?
  22. Which is your favorite so far? I love how pretty Gridania is myself it feels like a forest in a mainline offline Final Fantasy game. But having said that Ul'Dah is my favorite city. Any city where one of the first NPCs you meet is a prostitute tells me you're in for a wild ride haha.
  23. Case File 002- The Case of the Mysterious Orbs Kailisto stood there, in the middle of the sea, her feet stepped across the waves like it was freshly fallen snow on a plain. She looked up into the sky and searched for the moon, but it was nowhere to be found. The moon was gone tonight, hidden behind the thick envelope of clouds which blanketed the night sky and choked any light that the moon goddess blessed the world with. There was a strange breeze that blew through the sky as she stepped carefully through the water. No signs of land, no signs of anything living but her. Step after step she walked, for what seemed like an eternity across the barren and dead sea. Suddenly there was a tremble in the water and she froze in place and looked around but saw nothing. âStrange...â she said and took another step. It was that step which submerged her into the sinking abyss. Her screams were cut off as the cold sea water entered her lungs. She grabbed her throat as she stared upwards and tried to claw her way back to the surface. She turned in place as again the water around her trembled. There was something in the distance with ominous yellow orbs for eyes and gleaming white teeth. âNo...â she thought and turned around to try to swim, swim as far and as hard as she could to get away from that thing. But it seemed like no matter how hard she tried, how fast she moved through the water it kept gaining on her. The sharp teeth nipped at her tail now and she turned around just in time to see down the throat of the beast before its powerful jaws clamped down. ~~~ âNO!â she shouted and woke up in a code sweat with her hand gripping her chest and tears falling down her face. She got out the bed and looked out the small window of her room in the inn up to the Sun. âThank the goddess... Just that dream again. Shake it off Kai, you have a lot to do tonight.â she said softly and climbed back into bed for the day. On the outskirts of Gridania... The sun had set and the moon had just began its journey across the sky. Kailisto carefully walked across the small clearing, eyes focused down on the blades of grass below. Her retainer, Clarisa, stood beside her with a lantern in one hand and Kailisto's cloak in the other. âAnd The Lalafell said her mate was here, in this spot correct?â She said, not bothering to look back at Clarisa. âYes ma'am. She said she saw a grouping of strange lights flickering and hovering overhead as she was making her way back through the forest to the site when she heard a scream that sent chills down her spine. She ran back and he was gone, no trace of him, no blood.â Kailisto nodded as she continued to move slowly across the small clearing. She bent down and plucked a blade of grass from the ground and held it up to the lantern light. âWell, this looks like blood.â she said as she showed it to Clarisa who nodded in agreement. âWhat do you think happened-â Clarisa was cut off by a howl, or a cry one couldn't really tell. Kailisto's eyes perked as she saw two orbs of light slowly appeared in the tree line and began to flicker in and out as they seemed to be getting closer. Kailisto stood almost entranced as her mind raced to figure out just what was going on. âHmm... Interesting indeed...â
