  1. The Consortium is an OOC Linkshell designed as a hub for friends and fellow Roleplayers to gather. We are a social OOC linkshell, where banter and conversation are welcomed and encouraged. Here you can seek roleplay, or simply relax and have a bit of fun with those in the linkshell. We have a few simple rules: We are a mature linkshell, so darker or more risque humour may occur. Please be aware of this. If you have a disagreement with another roleplayer, please keep this away from the Linkshell. It's impossible to like everyone, but we want a friendly environment! You are legally openly encouraged to be an absolute marshmallow. Information for Fellow Linkshells/FCs You are permitted to advertise your IC events in this channel, but FC recruitment posts are not permitted. Contacts to Join: There are no special measures required to join, if you want in, just ping one of the folks on the list. Alts are accepted alongside main characters. 2. Oh I just bumped into a bunch of you folks today and you were awesome! If I wasn't already part of another FC I would have loved to stick my nose in to this one. <3 On an alt perhaps. *Rubs chin*
  3. I'll bite, I quite like the idea of having some sort of communication with other characters. The opportunity to meet them ICly some day would be neat too! Sarcire Sinclair - Hyur Zucutto Sohalia - Miqo'te *** ***Note that Zucutto has limited literacy skills so her notes will be much more simplistic.
  4. I have a few, though for different reasons... Amdapor Keep Demon Wall - He's not only a DPS check, but an intelligence check. Nothing says "Memorise this pattern and don't stand in the bad" more than he does; he's so fantastically easy when you know how to do him but people just can't work him out. Particularly bad in PUGs. Titan (Hard Mode) Supremely well tuned as a Gear Check across all roles, but his crazy AoE patterns and Square's poor server syncing for AoE make him extremely difficult for some people. He's the big road block at end game that a lot of people smack their faces against (and I've only gotten him to 15% heh). Aurum Vale Because apparently AoEing down adds and clicking fruits at two stacks of a debuff are hard... Praetorium Specifically speaking about the second to last boss, the one I like to refer to as the 'real' boss, with the last boss being the 'lol smack it and it dies' boss. People just can't dodge that much stuff most of the time, I find it funny that dodging straight lines and giant debuffs on the floor are so hard to do! ...That being said, once you have the patterns down on ALL of those bosses, it's actually extremely easy to do them all. Titan excluded due to lag/sync and gear check issues as he isn't meant to be easy. n_n
  5. I used to encounter this issue a lot in WoW because I was a heavy end-game raider for a time; top of the line guild etc. As a result I was usually decked out in some very impressive gear and it wasn't really something I could take off in case we went into a raid or I was called to sub in to one. Unfortunately for me I also ADORED roleplay and I generally find that people look at your gear and make assumptions. ...So you know where this is going. Black Temple gear = Killed Illidan Sunwell Gear = Killed Kil'Jaedan etc etc Those who were RPing used to jump to the conclusions that my character was in the team who killed Illidan/Kiljaeden/Arthas and while technically on an ooc level this is accurate as she has the realm first; I find that it's just awkward to roleplay that achievement out. The solution? I actually have it that my discipline priest, the heavily armed and impressive looking creature that she is, is part of the front line strike teams that take on the most dangerous threats. In short, she's in the military and would most likely come from something similar to the Marines or SAS. So yes, I do RP her as being powerful, this comes with her age but I also RP her as being part of a very large team that take out certain targets. The result of this is that she's on the frontlines against Illidan killing demons, Arthas while killing undead and so on. I never indicate that she helped kill Arthas, instead I like to think the NPCs who tend to show up in those raids did it. Instead I prefer to say that she took part in some very dangerous battles and while it's great she came out alive, you can be damn sure that there's no time to rest because there's always something that's going to cause a problem. There's absolutely nothing wrong with RPing a storyline as existing providing that you temper it with logic, reason and some realism. So long as your character continues to have vulnerability, they can still be in a powerful position. In the case of overarching storylines like WoW/FF14 etc, it's more about the OOC players ability to rein in their own character and make them more realistic, you can't just blame the storyline for making them seem ridiculous! That being said I do find it's good etiquette to not imply that you've killed a primal/god etc, as someone else said, "A hero did it" or indicating that you were part of a large scale war effort, is far better. TLDR - There's nothing wrong with following the storyline and making reference to it in RP, but it has to be tempered by realism from the OOC player. As most people can't do this very well, it's usually good etiquette to simply not mention certain aspects of the story.
  6. I'll definitely try to drop in for a time. I think I might have Siri show up as a matter of course during her investigation; after all, bars are always great places for gossip and info. <3

  8. I'm new to this forum, didn't even know it existed until I met Alothia on the FFXIV forums, so hello! I don't currently have any villains, I have a jaded healer and that's about it. However years back when Neverwinter Nights (the original folks) was out, I played on a dedicated Dragonlance server that was custom build and maintained that lore. I ended up playing a character that every other player managed to depise, she was Archmage of the Black Robes which took a ton of RP to get to and an in-game vote from all the respective mages. I utterly loved that character as she had so much depth, the only problem I usually foresee with villains is they need to have: 1. A group of people willing to recognise them as powerful/problematic 2. A group of people willing to let them get away with some villainous activities 3. Time to establish themselves as notorious 4. And a person who's prepared to be oocly hated by players who are new to roleplay. If I knew that folks were down for that type of villain again, I could certainly develop one, but I would need time to establish him/her before really launching into any huge plots etc. ...Although I quite like the idea of a cult (as mentioned on the first page), start off with one individual and then expand so you end up with a lead villain and multiple other notorious figures; that would take some work to set up though.
