Tonight is peaceful and cool, a nice ending to my last day in Ul'dah. I'm leaving for Limsa-Lominsa tomorrow afternoon by airship, and this time I'll be sure to board the right one. I'm excited and nervous, and I don't think I'll sleep much tonight. I've hired B'rahz to come with me. We've gotten to know each other a little better in the past few days I've spent here in the desert. I think he may be one of the few candid people in this city. He's short on work and food; I happen to have a little gil and skill at cooking. It's a good arrangement. He doesn't seem to want anything from me, and despite being a rough person, I think he will watch out for me. Besides, people in his line of work probably need a healer often. Still, B'rahz is a little strange for a Seeker. He has a tribal name, but a city accent. He could only be a tia, but he hasn't taken any opportunities presented to him with other females. (That Keeper, Glow, is strange, but still very attractive. At least, that's what I think.) B'rahz says he's not the 'one night' kind of person. But what tia isn't? It's a mystery. I might get an opportunity to solve it, if he decides to stay awhile in Limsa-Lominsa. We both need gil, and we could probably make a good team. I hope he stays. Aside from gil, I think one thing we're both short on is friends. I put another gil in the Gold Court's fountain for a wish. It seems like every time I go there, I meet someone new... A female roegadyn, tall with fiery hair and mismatched eyes of vibrant green and deep red. The eyes are a common trait among miqo'te, but I've never seen it among roegadyn before. She does have a heavy Lominsian accent though, which is common enough. Her name is Lost River. ...She calls me Miss Mow Mow. I... I suppose it's endearing. A little. Lost River is a bigger puzzle than B'rahz. She's a bounty hunter of sorts, but when I mentioned I wanted to attend an academy in Limsa-Lominsa, she had something to pass on to me. A grimoire--a textbook of her own, worn over the years. She doesn't look it, but I think she's some kind of powerful mage. No one would think so at first, not with that athletic build, enormous bow, and thick accent--which she can rein in perfectly, when she wants to be understood. I told her I would treat her to cooked meals in exchange for the book. (I will have to figure out how to saute giant ants on my own, but I think B'rahz can fish up some good trout.) When I asked her where I could find her, she gave me a pearl to contact her. At least, she said it was a pearl. It doesn't look like any pearl I've ever seen. I have it on my desk now, while B'rahz is out. It's a strange, eerie thing of deep black, etched with runes I don't understand. There's something odd about the way it looks--aside from the obvious, ominous design--but I can't put my finger on it just yet. When I asked who had made the pearl, Lost River only said questions like that would get me eaten by the Voidsent. She was joking. I think. A black mage I met recently at the Quicksand, Xel, discouraged questions about the Void. I don't know what it is, not exactly, but I don't think it's something to be tampered with. I might not be able to study the pearl, but I don't know of anyone knowledgeable enough to help me, either. I can't throw it away. I'll figure out something, but I think I'll have to hide it when B'rahz is around. It looks ominous enough for even the most oblivious people to question it. I'm beginning to think that the truly mysterious black mages aren't the ones parading around in black!

Hello! It's nice to meet you. Welcome to the forums! =^^= I love your grumpy Lalafell character idea! I don't see enough Lalafell, and would really like to meet some. There is a lot of room for him to be both gravely serious and slightly comical! Maybe with a dry sort of humor? My Elin character from TERA would sympathize with him. She was very cute and pink, but quite grown up, though people would pat her head all the same. Some of them got away with singed eyebrows. Some had to wait a long time for them to grow back. Are you enjoying your time in Japan? I used to live there when I was little. I miss it a lot, and hope to go back someday.

This website has character sheets in the form of wikis! If you go to the top of the navagation bar, click on Wiki, it will take you to the RPC Library. On the left-hand side, go to Characters, and Player Characters, and you will find a long list of character sheets. There is no hard set of rules in making a character, and everyone's wiki is a little bit different. Some people will post long histories or rumors about their character, while others just want to share basic information, like appearances, how old they are and where they're from. Take a look at a few of them, and develop your own preferences. =^^= -
What is going on this morning?

Bouncing between writing my character sheet and the TESO beta (which is really enjoyable so far!). I'm so frustrated I can't log in. T_T I mean, it's Monday morning (well, afternoon, now). It's a holiday, but still... are there that many people already on? -
Hello and welcome to the forums! It's nice to meet you. I'm curious to know how FF14 is on the PS3! My PS3 is slowly dying... so I bought it for the PC, ha ha. I hope you can get on Balmung or Gilgamesh soon! Everyone is crossing their fingers in regards to the server maintenance they'll be doing within a day or so... good luck! I played TERA, GW2, RIFT, and Aion too! Most of my RP was in RIFT, but the community has become a little toxic there, ha ha. I enjoy faction tension too, so I was a little sad when the expansion came out and the Guardians and Defiants were no longer snapping at each other. It's still a fun game, but I've found a lot of nice RP in FF14 so far. As for which servers you should join, I think you will be fine in either. On Balmung, there will be a lot more veteran players. Since they were at the defining battle of the Calamity, or around for a lot of the story leading up to it, you'll run into more experienced people. This is nice for me, since my character is somewhat of a novice, and I'm hoping to find a mentor figure. On Gilgamesh, everyone is new (unless veterans transfer), and you can have a bigger part in establishing yourself there. You won't be behind anyone, since everyone is starting fresh on that server. Where you want to go is a personal preference. I wish I could tell you about the keyboard/mouse, but I don't know. Sorry! If you end up on Balmung, I'll be happy to quest and RP with you sometime. =^^=

Hello, and welcome to the community. =^^= Nice to meet you. I'm sorry you haven't been able to get on Gilgamesh or Balmung yet. Like Desmond said, hopefully some slots will open up with the server maintenance. Good luck! It's storming outside right now, and I can't log in to play, so to keep myself from going a little crazy I'm trying to make a character sheet. Do you have any idea what your character will be like? Maybe think a bit on their background, and their motives and personality. If you need any help brainstorming, I'm sure several of us would be more than happy to. You could also take a look at the Town Square section of the forums, where a lot of people post their stories. A few of them have inspired me to write a little. This one is my favorite so far. One major part of everyone's character is the Calamity--were they at the battle, what were they doing, how they were affected. Those are a few things to think on. Hope this helps! -
Hello from Ul'dah! That's right, Ul'dah. My plans to travel to Limsa-Lominsa went a little... awry. It took me the better part of this week to save up enough gil to travel. I did most of my work for the chocobo keepers at Bentbranch, mostly errands for gyshal greens and culling pests along the roads the chocobos travel on. (They startle so easily.) I saved about 5000g--coin enough for my airship pass application, the fare, food, supplies, a room at an inn, and extra padding, in case of anything crazy. I even ran into Firae the Aspiring Black Mage again, and he offered to travel with me since I haven't been outside the Shroud since... well. It turns out a friend of mine at the Conjurer's Guild had a friend working in the airship business, and they helped get my pass approved early. I was so excited and ready to go, and I couldn't find Firae again, so I just... went. ...Went and boarded the wrong airship. That's what I get for being impatient. If anyone back at the guild finds out, they'll never, ever let it go. I was told the next airship to Limsa-Lominsa wouldn't arrive for awhile. From the way some attendants' ears were glued to their linkshells, it sounded like they ran into some trouble. It looks like I'm stuck in Ul'dah for a little while, at least a day or two. Ul'dah is an enormous city, all sandy stone and bursting with people. I wandered for about half an hour before I found myself in what must have been a bad part of the city. A Seeker who calls himself B'rahz said he could tell that I wasn't from Ul'dah. He looked kind of rough, and said to be careful because a lot of people might try to take advantage of someone who wasn't familiar with the city. He looked amused when I asked how I could know if he wasn't one of those people, and said he'd show me around Ul'dah for free. It was then that Firae showed up out of nowhere. ...He wasn't lost like I was, and I really want to know what he was doing in a bad part of the city. Black mages can be so suspicious sometimes. Ul'dah is beautiful in a different way from Gridania. Where Gridania has towering trees and natural waterfalls and cool air, Ul'dah is all grand, towering sandstone, bright and hot. B'rahz took us to a fountain in the middle of the city, where it's tradition to toss in a gil and make a wish. One person, an Elezen wearing mail armor and a serious expression, thought it was silly. His name is Jullian. He reminds me of a mentor, or a father, someone who isn't very light-hearted, but isn't very harsh, either. He said it wasn't a tradition that was going to make wishes come true, but the people behind them. He looked a little happier when I told him I was on my way to Limsa-Lominsa to see about joining an academy. I asked him if he wanted to join us in our walk of the city, but he was waiting for someone. Maybe I'll run into him again before I leave Ul'dah. He seems like a wise person. ...I still made a wish with a gil, before I left the fountain. It can't hurt, as long as I don't get lazy. B'rahz says he's had a wish from the fountain come true, but he wouldn't tell us what it was. I wonder if it's something embarrassing... B'rahz took us to the markets next. It was so crowded, sometimes I had to dodge around and between people! Not at all like Gridania. There was so much to see. (They have a food stand with delicious things to eat!) I bought some ink since I was running out, but I have a feeling that's only the most boring thing to find in the markets. There were jewels and armor and shining weapons too, and bright dyes and fabrics. If I'm ever rich someday, I'll come back and buy some. He showed us the inn last, a place called The Quicksand. I think I was lucky to get a room, since the city is so full. It's a little more expensive to stay here than in Gridania, but the room is cozy with soft lighting. Now that I think about it, being stuck in Ul'dah isn't so bad. It's an exciting place. I think I'll spend the next few days exploring before I board the airship for Limsa-Lominsa. It can't hurt to see new things, right?

Hello there! =^^= Welcome to a warm and fuzzy community! This is a great game to get into RPing... ...if you can ever manage to log onto a server. I can count the number of times I've managed it on a single hand, but at least I have a character... I'm sorry you haven't been able to make one on Balmung or Gilgamesh yet. There's no third designated RP server that I know of, at least, not a permanent one. I've noticed the server population has dwindled a bit early in the morning on Balmung--around 6 a.m. EST, so around 11 a.m. in England. I played on an EU server in beta, and I didn't notice any significant lag due to the timezone differences. If you have a decent connection, I think you'll be okay. What kind of character are you thinking about? =^^=

@Jove: FF8 was one of my favorites. Eheheh. @L'sheba: Thank you! I hope we run into each other in game (if I can ever log in). We can share notes behind the instructors' back. XP @Kyatai: Aieee, you too? Getting killed is no fun. X_X I will heal all the things! *Cure + + +!* I hope I can log in sometime today... @Yini: FREE HUGS! +_+ YES. I will seek you out... @Kouen: O_O; AHH! Too much, too much! *Esuna!* + + + ! -
Well, good thing there are aspiring healers in the vicinity! Oh wait. (By-the-Twelve-it-took-you-long-enough-gosh-finally! B'rahz is going to be so much fun. Let's follow the trail of the beaten and the bruised.)

((As a new player, the Calamity is an abstract and vague thing to me. This story was suspenseful, and personal, and took me right to the heart of it. I really enjoyed reading this; please let me know when you post the next part!))

I. Basic Info Characters: Tirra Lirra (A'Tirramei Liroh) Primary character: Tirra Lirra (A'Tirramei Liroh) Linkshells: None Primary RP linkshell: None II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Medium-ish! I love RPing, but I also like to enjoy the game. The more the two coincide, the better! I will likely be playing with friends who don't RP on occasion, but you fellow RPers are my family. XP Views on Conflict: Grudges. I'm a hard person to offend OOCly. Have a character that can't stand mine? Don't feel obligated to warn me or apologize for your character's actions. Bring on the drama! Just keep OOC, OOC, and IC, IC, please. Combat. No matter the archetype, my characters always seem to find their way into some kind of scuffle or conflict. People have a variety of ways of dealing with combat in RP--emotes, dice, PvP--and I'm okay with all of them, though I am ignorant when it comes to complex dice systems and would rather not use them. For emoting combat, I prefer to keep it on the shorter end; I'm not one to type several paragraphs of detail for one action. Don't feel obligated to warn me OOCly if your character wants to lash out at mine (with the exception of character death). Injuries. Injuries are a fun source of RP for me! Though we are in a world where healing magic is common, and even prominent, one thing I would prefer to avoid is running into, and being, a plot-crapper--that is, a healer/researcher/scientist that conjures the one-in-a-million cure-all for the obscure, terminal illness you have on the spot. I promise to try and keep it interesting, suspenseful, and realistic (relative to our magical world). Character death. My characters can die, whether it be an accident or outright murder. Please let me know OOCly if you've targeted my character. I like twists as much as the next person, but as a courtesy to others who have ties to my character, this is something I need to plan for. Thank you for your understanding. Views on IC romance: Romance tends to add a whole new dimension to my character development. While this isn't what I primarily look for in RP, it's great all the same. I am comfortable with mature, explicit, or dark themes so long as the story comes first, but no ERP, please. Keep your fidelity straight OOCly. If you have a friend or partner that may become uncomfortable OOCly with the IC actions of your character, be considerate of them. If I am making you uncomfortable, please be straight forward and let me know. Views on lore: I'm very new to it, so please point out any discrepancies you may pick out in my RP. I try not to take lore debates OOCly or offer criticism unless it is asked for. If a character has said or done something that completely contradicts the lore, mine will just give them a funny look. Views on OOC chat: Feel free to approach me OOCly; you won't ruin my immersion. My OOC chat is designated by the (( )) brackets in /say and sometimes in /tell if I'm not familiar with you. I like to keep my RP open, so barring some heavy and relentless trolling or a specific private scene, please don't ask to RP exclusively in /party out in the open world. Sometimes my tells are IC. My IC tells are designated with quotes. Tirra Lirra leans close, speaking in a hushed tone. >> [Tirra Lirra] whispers: "A hundred gil if you set that Hyur's pants on fire." III. @Firnwood: Thank you! I appreciate it. ; @Garryson: Ohhhh. Ohhh. Suddenly, things make more sense, ha ha. I'll definitely take a look--in the right place this time! ^^; Thank you. @Threndual: Lalafell gladiator would be epic. And adorable. XP Looking forward to seeing what you end up with, either way! -
Visiting the waterfall in Gridania is a good way to meet people in the evening. A Moonkeeper named Kyrio--pink hair, bright green eyes, curling red marking on forehead. Kind and courteous, he dreams of being a bard someday. He plays the harp well, but still needs to work on his song. He sang a romantic piece about lovers walking the Twelveswood. I wish my time in the Twelveswood had been so pleasant! Last time, I had to be saved from a malboro by a stranger. Kind of romantic, but more horrifying. I don't think I'd ever consider a stroll through the woods after that... Firae Elric. A Midlander, tall, of dark hair and eyes, modest robe and hat. Someone as awkward as me. He wants to become a powerful black mage someday. Seems harmless enough for now; he didn't have a crazy gleam in his eye. Firae can sing, too. I wonder if I'm the only one in Gridania without some kind of musical talent. That would be ironic. I've never tried singing. ...I can hum? Another Midlander, a pale and pretty woman named Kiana. Light of hair; I bet it looks almost white in the right lighting. Quiet. She seems like the type of person that listens more than speaks. Has a pretty accent, but I couldn't place it. I wonder where she's from? Hope to meet her again sometime. She seems kind. I talked with them more than I'd talked at all in the past three days put together. I lost track of time and was late for my lesson. The instructor was cross, but I think it was worth it. The lesson went well, aside from being tardy. They think I might have a talent for Hearing, if I practice diligently. They say that I'm impatient. It's true. Better impatient that sloth-like, I think. Hopefully I'll make more progress soon. Tomorrow I have to look for a few more jobs around the city. My coin pouch is a little flat; I'm down to 2000g. I'll need it to travel eventually, among a few other things.

@Firae: ^^; Well, they have now, ha ha. Thank you. @Threndual: ...I was going to post a screenshot of Tirra doing the /welcome motion and ~*~ Friendship is Magic ~*~ over her head, but that's venturing into pretty dangerous territory. e_e; ... So just... *hug* No Lalafell?! @Jove: Thank you! Pretty pictures make everything better, especially if they involve cats. I hope to see you around in-game sometime. @Astersk: Thank you! It's nice to meet someone in a similar situation. Astrid, Astrid... were you on Piken Square or Tarnished Coast? +_+ Either way, good to meet you. ^^ @Teardrop: I have been desperately searching for the appropriate .gif to respond to Tralala's cuteness and why is there no tarutaru /panic .gif on Google Images grrr death rage...! Er. ...Also, hello. <3 -
I wish I knew. If it makes you feel better (it probably won't e_e), I was on at 0510 EST this morning, ten minutes after early access started, and tried to roll a character on Gilgamesh as well (just in case Balmung didn't work out for some bizarre reason). It was already locked. I hope it's lifted soon. Good luck. T_T <3

@Nimarhie: Thank you. ^^; The Moonkeepers are beautiful in their own way! They are pale and enchanting, with an aura of mystery I doubt the Seekers could achieve so easily. @Firae: Muwaha, maybe we will! +_+ Maybe we will... I was about to say hi to you in game, by the way! ...Then the NA servers died for the second time today. *sniffle* @Threndual: Hello there, ominous and frightening taruta--er, lalafell. @Nahv'ir: Hello! I'm glad there are seem to be more than a handful of new people to join the crowd with. I hope to see you around, too, and hope we have a third person with us. I have a terrible sense of direction... @Sukakun: ^^; Ahaha, thank you. I felt like doing something creative... so I wouldn't go crazy during the server maintenance. Sometimes good things can come of it, I guess. XP It's nice to meet you! @faceman7381: Hello, and thank you! I hope to see you around, too. @Garryson: Thanks for the welcome! I have a question for you, though... what is the difference between free companies and linkshells? I don't really understand. ^^; I like the theme of your group! Secretive, shady, and dark, huh? Fun times. My character would probably be opposed, but she could sure end up as a thorn in your side. XP I'm sure you have many of those already, though! @Zofie: Hello and thank you! We healers have to stick together, ha ha. Hope to see you around in game soon. ^^ -
Eeeeeee. Fellow new person and friend! <3 You played GW2, Aion, and Rift, too! That's great. Maybe we've met each other before, ha ha. I hope we can meet up in game sometime!

((Hello! I am new Final Fantasy XIV and these forums. Though I have several friends that play FF14, I only know one or two people in the RP community. I look forward to meeting some of you! I might have encountered you in the past from Aion, RIFT, and GW2 under different characters. I love to role play all sorts of things and can always be approached. Despite my character's positive and happy nature, I enjoy RP with elements of conflict and shades of grey (not the book!) the most. I like to start with a character that people can influence and see where they go, because it is always somewhere interesting. I am also still learning the lore, so please be merciful and correct my discrepancies. My character is Tirra Lirra on the Balmung server. 'Tirra Lirra' is the equivalent of 'tra la la.' The nickname was made up by a lazy Midlander who couldn't be bothered to say or type the pretty, but rather convoluted female Seeker names every single time... Thank you for reading. See you around... if the servers ever come back to life. ^^;;...))
