  1. That's not actually an alternative, as it doesn't provide for RP in any way, which is kind of the whole idea behind wanting a /sleep or /liedown emote. No laying in bed sick or injured, no laying on the ground relaxing and chatting, no anything! Nope, because ~*oh no, some people might make offensive images!*~ As though you can't do that right now as things are. What a load of crap from Squee. ; (NSFW) http://i.imgur.com/AB1W8HP.jpg Cute girls.
  2. Agreed. I'd like to see a muscularity slider for miqo'te and Elezen males, too. In general, more extensive body sliders would be appreciated. And *cough* a bulge slider *cough*. Females get a bust slider, so it's only fair! More customisation options! Especially for the Midlanders and Elezen. I'd like to be able to design characters that look like Gabranth or Edea. As for classes, a new disciple of magic, and now jobs are always welcome! A battlemage type class would be amazing. More spells and abilities! Moar! More emotes, especially RP-friendly ones! I'd also like the ability to change your character's "passive" stance. Basically, emotes that make your character interact more extensively with their surrounding world are what I'd like to see added. I'd like more skimpy outfits too for males, but ones that look less like they originated from a Pride Parade that bumped into the Rio carnival, and more like something out of Conan the Barbarian. GW2 had great artistic direction when it came to its gear, and FFXIV can learn from this. The ability to get robes and armour that look less stodgy and more elegant, e.g. gowns rather than robes, would be a plus. Additional Garlean lore and, perhaps, the ability to play Garleans. I agree with most of the ideas suggested by others here, e.g. cloaks. I'd love to see account-level achievements, especially since people like me enjoy tying particular classes to specific characters, which isn't the most efficient way to do things since you're meant to level more than one class per character; I'd rather have the ability to specialise my characters and still reap the rewards in terms of achievements. As for stat allocation, I wish they'd take another look at the Elezen; it would have made more sense, to me, to push the Wildwood as the more "physical" variant of the race, with the Duskwight possessing more magical prowess, not least of all because many Wildwood seem to take the path of the archer or lancer. More racial lore! I'd like the character's race to have a meaningful impact on my gaming ezperience. I don't like the idea of brushing race off as nothing more than differently configured pixels! As such, racial abilities, emotes, outfits etc. are all good things. More locations, more challenges for players after a more hardcore experience etc etc. Their idea of allocating rewards based on subscription time is very good, so I hope they keep it up. I'll stop now.
  3. Yeah, I call that the Yuki face. It reminds me of Vaan from FFXII. However, I'd say most Midlander faces are twinky/boyish rather than feminine per se, with the exception of the one you mentioned.
  4. Well, J'rakh is well known for his evening prowls... take that as you will. Also, *thumbs up* to body sliders for the Miqo'te and Elezen!
  5. Rhuarc is also a male Roegadyn! Big, manly, paladin tank, don't see why its not the most prominent race. Most likely because they look ridiculous - their proportions are very off and typically the 'big' races tend to be designed to appeal to the sort of player that enjoys overcompensating. It was the same with orcs and tauren in WoW - very few people played them and yet many of those that did seemed to think that 'dey da best lol so much biger an strong den every1 else lol xDDDD'. Masculinity is also not linked directly to size, especially when excessive proportions are concerned. I don't really think that's a fair assessment. I like Roegadyns because I'm a big dude, and I love being big. I want to play a character that's big like me. Is liking my body type overcompensation? I think for the most part, all the races have proportions that are "off". Even Hyurs, where I can play a man with ape arms or a woman made almost entirely of legs. Some people just see them all differently, I guess. In all fairness, you did say you couldn't see why they're not the most prominent race. I think Theodric's comments were apposite in that regard. As for this Ron elf, what is all the fuss? :?
  6. I, for one, never really bought into the "lulz belfs r gurlz xDDDD" memes that tend to infest and infect WoW. I suppose it is because I came into the game via TFT, which painted them as a rather tragic but driven race. It certainly never gave the impression of them being feminine. This came with the rather ill-conceived character /silly and the posture implemented by Blizzard, but I struggle to take it seriously. In regards to grit, I can't think of a "grittier" race in the setting. The adulation heaped upon the trolls and Vol'jin in WoW has grown dull; I've never been a huge enthusiast of the race. As far as FFXIV is concerned, although I can see why some faces lend the impression that the Miqo'te are feminine, you can certainly design them to look masculine. The Seeker of the Sun lore doesn't come across as very feminine to me. I think the characterisation holds even less water for the Elezen. You can clearly tell the male ones are male. The females do tend to be a bit more androgynous, though. Yet not to the point that you'd be hard-pressed to tell them apart. /offtopic digression
  7. --MMORPG background I've sampled a variety of MMOs, including the most notorious of the lot, WoW. I gave Rift, AoC and several other MMOs a brief run, but none caught my fancy until Guild War's 2 came along, with its captivating art style. --RP experience I've been roleplaying on and off for the better part of five years. Here's a retinue of my previous RP characters (the relatives, mostly.) Some of these will no doubt be recycled. I also have a couple that I RP on GW2. --Character ideas/info It goes without saying that I am a major enthusiast when it comes to our long lived, pointy eared alter personae, the elves. That said, I am not yet fully sold on the Elezen, however I may dabble in one inspired by Maester Seymour. The namesake of this character from the Warcraft universe was a sorcerer roleplayed in that vein. Another idea I had draws from Basch, perhaps playing a Knight imprisoned by and tortured by the empire before the rebirth of the world granted him the opportunity to escape and find his freedom. This could potentially be a Midlander. Lastly, I like the idea of two Mi'quote twins, each devoted to a different tribe when split from birth. They will have been born minutes apart upon the transition from an astral to an umbral month, and be indistinguishable in all but eyes and skin tint. --How did you learn about the coalition? Through Theodric, who has the great distinction of being my partner out of the game. --What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? It depends on how creative I feel at any given point. Some days I prefer to simply bash (or rather, conflagrate) pixelated skulls, on others I am more sociable and apt to invest in more plot-driven roleplay. --Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? When I'm not working, I am usually reading, preferably economics or philosophy. I also like indulging in the odd bit of music, which oscillates between anything from trance music to metal. Most of my RPG experience out of the game derives from classics like the BIS games (e.g. Baldur's Gate 2) but also games like Age of Wonders 2. So, that is about it in compressed summary. On reflection, this forum could really do with a black mage emoticon!
